Yeah girls just a dope MCI don't think people really underappreciate it that style and just his format until you go back and listen to it but so subtle and simple but yet so unique
@@reannar678 except those dudes used only samples. Guru uses actual instruments in his Jazzmatazz albums, along wit The Roots, Deltron 3030, A Tribe called Quest and De La Soul. Multiple Hip-Hop artists do this btw instead of using samples to be more authentic. This style of Hip-Hop is a sub-genre called "Jazz Rap" eastcoast boombap wit actual instruments
@@elyknived3840 Me too bruh! I've been going back listening to the old skool classics like this here. Boy this brings back some really good memories. The parties, the honey dips and kicking it with the fellas.
Not to me. I never bought any Gang Starr albums, because back then I was an unemployed child. But I remember this track and "Trust Me" with N'dea Davenport. Trust, I will be digging deeper. Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago.
I'm glad GURU made this track featuring a jazz artist. So often rappers just sample great artists and they don't really get the recognition they deserve.
"Peace to the Blackbirds, 125th street and check the flow that's unique" my geography of Manhatten is second to none thanks to hiphop tunes like this and I've never even been there!
Back in these days where rap had more substance,A genius like guru blended rap and jazz perfectly, embrace this my friends... Guru was a true talent....R.I.P Donald Byrd, and Guru
Man, Guru's sited on a brillant Le Corbusier forniture, accompained by the legend, Donald Byrd. Rapping about the most notable and respectful action of life, lounge. This clip is a piece an art! King are all within on it. Peace to the pioneers.
in high school in the 90's I ordered something called Rock Video Monthly and they sent a VHS every month. this video was on there. otherwise I never would've heard of it. bought the cassette tape and wore it out. great album
A classic East Coast masterpiece! To take that Donald Byrd sound with Guru wow, I loved this in the 90's and it still is cool, so smooth rip Donald and Guru 👑💕
I remember buying this album on cassette tape summer of 93 and it sounded different than any previous guru album or any other rap album on the market...guru wasn't afraid to try something new and I believe this is the best of the three jazzmataz albums
A collaboration of 2 groundbreaking legends. now both in spiritual essence. i grew up on both these cats music and samples. and guru payed great homage here and other songs. keep their legacy alive & play jazzmatazz and think twice forever...

Of all the many hip hop albums i own, this is one of the most treasured. Much love & respect to you guru, one of my favorite mc's of all time.- Gang Starr fan for life
This is ONE funkalious jazzy lounging ......that 🎺 is like legend Dizzy Gallespie🫰🏾🌈🕺🏾🎶💃🏽💯🌹 my what a 'get down' flow of this blend of jazz & hip-hop/rap‼️
The main difference between the earlier rap pioneer's vs today's rappers, is that back then, they, the rappers, still respected and paid homage to those before them, there was still a sense of 'family'. Many of those rappers actually were college educated, or had other classical training, thus an appreciation of 'the arts'...that is reflected in their music. But today, to long generations later, it's a totally different rap world/scene.
Jazz legend and MC legend! "Every knows they have times when they want to just lay back, kick their feet up .... you know.... listen to good music ...and just lounge"!!!
