Guru has been my #1 for mad years, I personally found him so fucking unique compared to other emcees, he was tremendously humble and all about positivity, he gave advices to all ages thus the name Gifted Unlimited Rhymes "Universal" and I will forever miss this man! Rest in peace Keith Elam, aka the Guru!
This song is still such a vibe, this takes me back to vh1 soul used to wear this out during the summertime. this era of hip-hop/jazz/neo-soul is underrated
This song has been on my mind, so I've been playing it all weekend. Rest in power, Guru. Bringing life to your music in 2019. Edit: Still jamming in 2022. 😉✨
The most underrated M.C. in the history of hip hop. His music uplifted the souls. Strictly knowledge and wisdom. But the Caucasian power structure shut him down because they wanted to keep the population dumb down. G.U.R.U Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal. Rest in peace my brother.
Haven’t watched this vid and haven’t heard it in quite sometime this was and still is R&B/Hip-hop at its best never knew Guru passed away Rest In power and let cancer harm you no more
I just started listening to Guru & I'm 30 sum. Yeah I was tripping. But better late than Neva. 1 of my top 10 emcees now. Gotta make room for him on my list!
Maverick Kapone 😂💯... thankfully I fell in love with this nigga back in the early 2thou's... but yea better late than never brother! Peace... RIP GURU😓
definitely the most underrated lyricist ever, amazing lyrics, especially his early raw lyrics in Gang Starr and his Jazzmatazz albums. THis combined with the sickest dj's, like Premier or Scratch, have made him a true Legend.
Still fresh and influencing new generations, for me it was the non aggressive story telling with the tone, beat, and the overall musicality and jazzy vibe that gave his output a lush foreverness. The collaborations with jazz greats who influenced from the birth of hip-hop, guesting added to the vibe and authenticity and warmth of his grooves. I am deeply saddened that his journey was cut short, as that’s journey I wanted to ride. Now in my 50’s and with my son having just turned 16 for the first time we are comparing notes on music, and there’s parallels that can be drawn, as he is listening Tyler, The Creator who also uses jazzy influences, so allowing me to show him where it started.
only been listening to Gangstarr about 2 months now, I'm primarily a Wu tang based hip hop listener but ive been expanding my horizon of hip hop recently and seriously, i cannot fault any...and i mean ANY of guru's tracks, absoloutely superb, this is how hip hop is done! take note generations to come... R.I.P GURU x
