i remember gus talking about how the blues were pantherised and it doesnt work for origin. It's the same with the dogs with him and ciraldo pantherising the bulldogs. the bulldogs have always been known for outworking and winning the physicality battle against other teams It's probably why they played better under mick potter because he knows the bulldogs style. Not everyone can play like penrith and ciraldo needs to know that. andrew webster coming from penrith didnt do that with the warriors, he simplified their attack and defence around the strengths of the warriors style and now they're flying.

@@tayoz Gus was captain at 20 the youngest since the 1930s, 4/5 origin series, 2 premierships in his first 5 years as a coach, set up the panthers pathways system, knows nothing hahaha. It will take time, it took time at the panthers.

Remember Dean Pay. After taking over a decimated squad he had a rough 1st season before the team actually showed improvement. He was hampered by terrible contracts and management who were determined to balance out the salary cap chaos from des (Good luck Titans) Competitve and always improving next season, Pay had the squad positioned to really make some noise when the Bulldogs would finally open the purse strings. Yeah it was rough. Lots of injuries but that's no excuse. It just goes to show you that buying good players won't automatically make you good. All the top teams have world-class halves who direct their teams around the park, which is something the Dogs do not have right now. Burton is a centre, not a 6.

@shannonavery9449 injuries are always going to be an issue for any teams season. But a squad is made up of 30 players. Just imagine if Manly who's top 4 paid players had 12% taken off salary for not making the 8, they'd have around 450k to spend the following year...Reece Walsh is only on that this season.
Addo Carr, Mahoney, Burton, Kikau, Thompson - all gone backwards at the Dogs. Some would say their career has gone to the dogs… Something terribly wrong is going on there, but nobody seems to know what it is. Stop looking at the future and look at what you have. Now Pangai wants to quit the Bulldogs & take up Pro Boxing...WTF ! He is on $750k / year & wants to throw that away & try boxing..something doesnt make sense. I bet Pangai will walk away from his contract, try boxing until early next year then he will end up coming back to the NRL to play with Bennett at the Dolphins.
There's so much Gus flogging here I find it hard to comprehend [Sounds like you're all from Queensland] Love him or hate him, give credit where it is due. Gus loves rugby league and has done as much as any one man to improve the game. Penriff have Gus to thank for who they are today. While the NRL put their effort into stupid rule changes, girlie football and expansion expansion and more expansion, Gus turned Penriffs focus on developing juniors. He did the same [to a lessor degree] at the Warriors and is now doing the same for the Doggies who will be in a far better position in years to come thanks to his efforts.
I’m getting a bulldogs membership for 2024. I am an NRL chameleon, and I love the game, I’m putting my support behind the dogs for the near future, I like the direction they are going. And be honest any team Gus touches turns to gold. I feel sorry for the warriors who lost him because of Covid
You feel sorry for the warriors😂 They are sitn 3rd and playn the footy I was hoping to see the dogs play.. gus got it sosooo wrong... it's Webster who was the gun behind Penrith.. not barret or ciraldo... I have never seen performances this bad under potter or Dean pay with lesser teams.. our board and recruitment has no idea.. we were better off keeping potter. Mahoney is ok but wouldn't swap him for Marshall King and to make a young kid captain is so wrong his inexperience makes him think he has to do everything not trusting his backs let alone keeping alamoti and releasing Avarillo. Having not noticed for the majority of the year that perham was not the answer at fullback... every1 saw that after 4 weeks. The decisions made were so wrong. Whoever made them must be held accountable.. this is discussing. However I'm a bulldog through and through which is why we needed to bring a bulldog back to rectify this and give him the reigns to do so.

Does anyone remember that running joke about Gus and his "5 year plan" at Penrith? It took longer than 5 year's, but he and a few other very good footy heads were able to build this brilliant pathways program that has literally allowed Penrith to lose star player after star player and still be the best team in the comp. Heads up everyone, fixing the Bulldogs is going to take longer than 12 months.
The 5 year plan had ground to a halt which was why when the chance to re-unite the Clearys came about, the Panthers didn't even take a breath before booting him

Same could be said of his NSW coaching stint. However you are 100% correct in the pathways and the pathways has led to this golden era for the Panthers
The Dogs were consistently strong or at least decent through most of the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and even early 10’s. Their last 7 years or so has been almost the worst period in their history with consistently low finishes and small win percentages. Poor management of the cap and over paying players who are not as good as people think they are is a big reason.
The bulldogs are my least favourite team. In their defence the had a terrible injury toll at the start of the season which severely impacts new players and existing players gelling as a side. But their results will come, perhaps their biggest issue is at half back?
As a dogs supporter none of that applied on the weekend. They were full strength,with a better lineup on paper than the knights had. They just don't care. They didn't even try to win that game. It's difficult to justify even playing NRL for much longer. They're wasting their time, and that hurts to say.
Gus thought he could just throw money at the problem and buy players. He is also too busy making excuses and bagging out other clubs instead of focusing on his club.
Why do we keep giving Oxygen to Gould?! The guy has proved that where ever he goes... Clubs actually go backwards and suffer a terrible culture. Just speak to past players/staff at the Panthers...They say that he totally destabilised the club - Very similar as to what is evident at the Bulldogs right now!!! Over paid; Overhyped & Doesn't Deliver!!!
Well considering his job is to set up systems and create structures that develop success, I’d suggest he’s exactly as good as he thinks. He sets it all up, then when everything is working he goes to the next club that needs fixing up. No point having a guy to build a clubs systems up when they’ve been built and now it’s a matter of waiting for the results.
Pangai and max king needs to be dropped to reserve grade, burton needs to go to centre and Mahoney needs defensive lessons, overall the players need to believe in themselves and as a team
Burton at Penrith = great. Mahoney at Para = great. Kikau at Pen = great. Come to the dogs and lets just pick up money and be a laughing stock. Same for JAC.
The bulldogs have always been their strongest when they develop their own players. Get rid of phil gould and put his salary into junior development. Dogs build championship teams not buy them like the roosters.

It's OK to say where building for.tue future but it's about getting g results now . We need a full back Averillo is moving on We need a half n five eighth Burton is not a five eighth Sexton is not a leader as a half back We need a ball playing forward Unfortunately our hooker tries but he lacks stamina with too many mistakes from dummy half n poor valley selection Sad to watch week in n week out We don't give 100% Gus n we can't keep up to pace of the game Seems some players aren't fit enough 😢
Should have let Michael Potter to coach the Bulldogs. They were doing just fine. So much hype and propaganda cooked up by Philip Gould about Cameron Ciraldo and what have they both achieved this year? All they have done is made the Bulldogs to look like kids playing under 7s football. The Bulldogs Board should be fired if these 2 don’t coach the Bulldogs to win more than 5 games in the first 10 matches of 2024 season.
how long is guss going to hang on to this idea that burton is a 5/8, the guy is trash and has no idea how the position works, he constantly looks lost and would not start at 5/8 in the reserve grade at places like Brisbane, Gus is clueless, brisbane went from spooners to very possible premiers within 2 years, while the bulldogs have gone from crap to really crap. kevvie made hard calls while ciraldo sticks with players like burton at 5/8
