Gus played tonight at Monsters of Rock Buenos Aires, the guy is a beast! and he's so young!! you gotta give him some credit to be in stage and play with a monster like Ozzy =) we all know that nobody can do what Randy did, but Gus is a great guitarist!

Those Bark at the Moon riffs are boss as a motherfucker. And that tone is incredible.

Gus is a great guitar player, there is no doubt about it, but IMO, the best guitar player that Ozzy ever had is Jack E Lee, that dude is crimanally underrated...

Funny how people ramble on about shoes being filled, rating their styles, and other bullshit. Each guitarist that played for Ozzy expressed the music accordingly to what feels natural to them, that's what makes them unique as individuals and as musicians.

Just needs +3 on mids and +1 on treble. The distortion isnt the problem, its the scooped mids. Scooped mids is always going to sound terrible.

Another great ax man for Oz. Not his biggest fan but the man has an ear. I can't think of anyone who wasn't outstanding in their own right. And props to any mortal man stepping in to cover the Maestro Randy Rhoads. Bernie, Brad, Jake, Zakk, Joe Holmes, and Gus. Did I leave anyone out? That's quite a list. Next to Randy I have to say Brad was amazing. His work on Speak of the Devil is just epic. When I finally heard the original Sabbath versions I was let down to some degree.

In light of the comments here, it's really difficult to regard Gus G as anything other than terrific. I'm old, and saw Randy Rhodes with Ozzy back in the day, but tone, technique, and expectations have risen since then. Ozzy can afford the best, and anyone flaming Gus G confuses me… The guy is good, get over it.

Come on guys... This is just a practice video for RU-vid. Why would he spend hours on his tone just for messing around on RU-vid? Can we just concentrate on his ability and skill, or how about how cool it is that we even have the chance to hear and see the guitarist that Ozzy picked to be HIS guitarist up close and personal? It's supposed to be fun and cool, and you are all only interested in showing how much more you know than than everyone else and how amazingly awesome of a guitar tone expert you are. If you're really that amazing, get In a band, right some rad songs and become as successful as Gus G. That will show him and everyone how cool you are. Not some words in a comment field for a RU-vid video!

There isn't enough gain

Never really cared for Gus G....no offense Gus. There is no other then Randy Rhoads which those shoes simply can not be filled. However, Zakk Whyle is an amazing guitarist in his own right. No he's no Randy Rhoads however he's up there in a guitarist that will go down in history. Gus the more I watch him the more I do in fact like what I see. I think the issue with Gus thus far is that we have only seen him play cover songs. There's nothing real original that I have seen him do. Still although I rank him #3 of all of Ozzys guitarist having Randy be first an Zakk second. Gus is an inspiration to anyone who plays.

Like Mr Crowley or I don't know it's too bad they weren't fast on the records with the speed Randy played then at live. Like the idk intro, Randy plays sort of a galloping riff with alternating picking compared to him playing it in 16ths live and it's a fury of picking,.. it's funny how later u do stuff live u wished u would of done on the record. Even the main choruses of Crowley are played so slow but Randy kicked it up... I think he forgot hey these are my riffs and I should have fun with them and I suppose he did alot....like after hours suicide solution he hits a bad note and looks towards the small crowd and kinda laughs at himself... for some reason the after hours show which was I don't know, crazy train, Mr Crowley suicide solution think that's it. Anyhow 2 songs from This show are on ozzys channel but the rest have been taken down for copyright reasons....this is the only real professional footage with randy....too bad they didn't do more ..just these clips are amazing....they came a long way in quality. Back when I first saw them idk 10 years ago they were recorded with a toaster..ha . RR forever

Goddamn. Listening in headphones at high volume, these detuned chords in Bark at The Moon ring out so heavy. Good lord Gus's tone from the way he frets these chords and maybe also his intonation, is just filthy. Especially in the breakdown, or the bridge before the short coda to the solo. It is SO HEAVY. Wow.

"I've heard versions where people do it like that" - he means Zakk Wylde. Someone said that anyone can sound like Zakk Wylde after playing guitar for 5 years, and I have to agree. Gus G has strange fills, but Zakk uses squeals like a kid who has just learnt them and has to use it 100 times.

It's actually interesting that a lot of people here are saying that his tone sucks, which it does. The funny thing is, that the sound is so gained that there is no tone. There's zero depth and articulation, it's just distortion. Take a lesson from Dimbag. Large amounts of gain needs to be done with gear that can bring out the notes and the dynamics. Very few amps can do that. Boogie MkII C++, Krankenstein, JCM 800, Diezel Einstein and Herbert are a few of the only ones that can really do it. The Blackstar is a nice amp, but things get muddy quickly, when too much gain is used.
