Gushing About Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

I recently played Aria of Sorrow all the way through once. Now I'm playing dawn, and I love getting multiple souls to power them up, and it feels entirely better and i actually love the older anime style and have loved it all so much😊

A very unique Castlevania game that deserves more love !

oh right i should say something about sorrow here the only castlevania game i played in my childhood was portrait so i don't have as much of a big nostalgia love for the rest of the series but upon playing sorrow i realized what i was missing in portrait from the more traditional earlier games , in the un-segrigated metroid like world map of dracula's castle , like i remember hearing in the lore of castlevania probably from a video - oh actually yes that's right how could i forget it's in the first game overthinker - where moviebob mentions that dacula's castle is supposed to be the size of a small country onto itself , and dawn's was my first taste of how that was supposed to feel through it's gameplay translation it was so well done it still makes me question if portrait is the worse game because it lacks that , and of course gameplay is the most important and designing an intersection of mechanics is the purest way to make good game design - that's why metroid is a top tier game genera - so surely it must be right? but i also remember never fully selling myself on that idea either , and im still not sure now , but one thing i am sure of is how you pointed out that portrait makes up for this with it's aesthetic freedom is a positive for this point , maybe there was something about that very anime like intro presentation setting the mood just right for me , idk , but i do know that i also think portrait has the best ost in the franchise , which only later in my adulthood did i learn that's because it uses a lot of the best songs from previous games , like the sealed curse , and the second pyramid portrait uses music from the msx game king's valley 3 which isn't even castlevania O: but like holy luna , has anyone even ever HEARD of portrait of ruin's name entry music? THE NAME ENTRY song you wouldn't spend more than 7 seconds on is better than most game's entire ost's......

I just got through beating this game and Portrait of Ruin. Still gotta say that Symphony of the Night is my favorite.

Love dawn of sorrow hands down my favorite castlevania of the series.

I may be the only person alive who actually enjoyed the Ice Break, and the Boss Seals with the Stylus. I love all Three of the DS Vania games. But the 3DS Vania game was a HUGE Drop in Quality..

6:50 Actually, the IV Seal getting replaced with an easy one is a good reward, at least for me. The IV Seal is the one thing making Zephir's battle difficult. III and IV are the only Seals I never liked.

what if my formidable years were watching AVGN, and it rubbed on me pretty hard, that i felt nostalgia playing the Anniversary Collection, and beating Castlevania from 1 to Rondo and Bloodlines and finished them, they are amazing, even the first is amazing, they all amazing, except Simon's Quest. and i have SotN on PS5, but i don't really have a good enough reason to continue it after the first boss which was 2 bosses together from previous games. and my brain works in that peculiar way, that i can't just skip a game, even though i bought the GBA collection, and yes, i already bought have all 3 DS Castlevania for my New 3DS XL, for 2 years or so, and can just FUCKing go for it. right now. but i have no real reason, not while i started in Jan 2023 to play the whole Kirby laundry list of games, and by the end of the year shifted to Remedy's 2010s portfolio since i'm such a fan of Max Payne, and so i finished all Remedy games, Alan Wake 2 is great up to a point when Max PAYNE died, but in real life, so that's on a backburner. so i now in various stages of grief -- stuck on with RE4RPSVR2 and other PSVR2 games. i also have Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate 3DS, bought it because i heard the 3D effect is stellar.
