I swear I've had "I'm gonna write you a letter, I'm gonna write you a book" stuck somewhere in the back of my head for 15 years. Only now have I found where it's from!
Saw this live tonight. "An intimate evening with Guster" from their we also have eras tour. what a show. To see and feel apart of thr bands journey was amazing. The incredible acoustic vibe. The theatrics. Truly outstanding
It's an incredible city. I only had a few days though, so I spent most of my time "getting somewhere." Next time I want to spend more time there and just "get lost in Amsterdam."
Man, this song reminds me of the worst and the best times of my life. I actually get teary-eyed every time that I hear it; it's just that good, in my opinion. Relate-able, very tastefully poppy, and just pretty much perfect in every way imaginable. Thanks for the up.
Agreed. Of course music is the most subjective of subjective tastes, but I can't think of another band that nails catchy alt-pop tunes better than these guys.
Love these guys and this song! Can't believe saw them back in the early '90s when they were street musicians at Harvard Square and were known as "GUS". Their energy was so unique... I got on their mailing list way back then - and their postcards of tours always found me through 4 different address changes (before the Internet)! I knew they had something!
Finally! A music video where you can tell they are actually playing and singing! It usually just looks like them standing there pretending to be doing something.
I saw them in the early '90s when they were still just street musicians at Harvard Square -- they had so much energy and a unique sound, I just knew they'd get somewhere someday! I can't believe I saw them way back when!!!
I used to watch music videos on MTV every morning before school and this video popped up one or two times. I haven't heard the song since. Now twenty five years later the song still gets stuck in my head from time to time. Luckily I remembered those iconic lyrics in the chrous. I looked it up and found it here; I'm finally hearing it again!
I was twelve when I first saw this video. I'm almost 29. I STILL want that drum kit! EDIT: I just found out, it's called a cocktail kit. I want it even more now!
One of my favorites from Guster! I wish it was bigger when it came out. I only heard it a few times on the radio, and never saw the video until now. Great memories of fall 2003. We recently did a parody of "Amsterdam" at an event on behalf of Amnesty International, which you can find by clicking on our name here. Enjoy.
They played this one last night here, changed the words to Rotterdam, since it was in Rotterdam, great concert and top guys, talked to us after the show and had a drink with the handful of Dutch fans. Said they went to the places where they filmed this clip 12 years ago.
+RC Codes Heh! I find Dutch women to be very beautiful. I find the classic Dutch features to be very attractive. Legalized prostitution isn't high on my priority list, but it's interesting to see it working in a modern and tolerant city.
