My guitar teacher had one of these. Sold it to me for 20 quid (about 25€ at the time). 6 years later, (only misplaced it once for a few hours) I still have it! Great pick!
As much as the wait time was outlandish it was definitely worth the wait. It by far crushes the competition. Gives a nice defined crisp attack and wears very slowly and evenly. I would highly recommend them. In fact most of my students own at least one
I still like using Dunlop Jazz III's. Feels comfortable in my hand, and the fact they're a bit smaller and more pointy works for me too, since I have small hands. :)
I have three..I love them...I will not use anything else ever and they worth every penny. They amazed me the first time I used them and they still blow my mind. Never heard of Guthrie until after I bought my first Red Bear Pick. Easiest, cheapest investment I have ever made in upgrading my tone. My bass player has been with me for 20+years. First night with my Red Bear pick he says, "Man your tone is killer what did you do differently?" Believe it!!!
Red Bear is the best pick I've ever used overall in many decades of playing. The speed and clarity is instantly noticeable. My playing improved, which is more than you can ask from a pick (I'm not saying I have more musicality; nothing for that yet.) I got a selection of 5 different ones to find out what I like best, and for me so far it is the A-HVY. Will order up some more and try other models as well. I don't care about the price and neither should you. 4 month wait.
For my sweaty fingers, I love the Ultex Jazz IIIs. Aside from having the great tone and pick attack from original jazz IIIs, they have this texture to ensure you will never drop your pick. But I've also heard great things about these red bears, I just don't know if I can shell out 20 bucks for one right now.
Dairy products? That's the most cruel thing you can put into a pick, day old murdered calves, stolen milk from slave cows and murdered cows at 1/5th of their lifespan... Even Guthrie is not aware of the cruelty in dairy, while he recognizes the cruelty in turtle shells, he has been brainwashed (like most of us) to see dairy as something growing on trees! fair enough, I would definitely recommend them for any playing style but if you are unsure then it would be wise to pass due to just the shear cost and time frame related with the order. You can get them in pretty much any shape that you would want. I just ordered two more.
ok so why are people talking about everything except picks is beyond me. what is the gage of that pick? thanks. looks like its a H for hard. I like the dunlop flow jumbo 2.0.
@xXNeoShredderXx couldnt of said it better myself... never tried a Red Bear tho even tho some of my favorite guitarist use them.. Andy Wood, Guthrie of course.. I use Blue Chip picks which are along the same line as the Red Bear.. i mean i started using Jazz III for the same, that certain attack they have and listen to Andy Timmons he has among the sickest tone ever and he uses those Jazz IIIs you can hear it in his playing... gotta get me Red Bear
They're fairly good picks if you don't mind spending the same amount on one pick that you could buy 6 dozen and you also don't mind waiting forever to get them I am still waiting on mine almost 3 months now.
@shaqdaddy11 lol same. I try to avoid the cheaper picks now. I always now look for something that I know is gonna feel comfortable in my hand, and help me with picking accuracy, which certainly you can get with a Jazz III.
yeah it is, but in the long run it is well worth the wait. have it shipped to where you're moving to perhaps, or have it sent to someone who could bring it to you?

Good that no turtles are harmed for your pics, but dairy is death too. What do you think happens to the calves? What do you think happens to the dairy cows when they are no loner profitable? What do you think their living conditions are? Etc.,....You may want to look for an alternative, mate.
@AZIARGROUS Worse than that, dude. It's $18 for a "second" (one someone else rejected!). Luckily, my pick for acoustic playing already had my name on it. :D I think they're $30+ for a custom order. I get a small heart attack every time I think I lose either one.

ok. so he doesn't fucking say witch one he has. what does it say on his pick can anyone please tell me, because it's blurry I cant tell. what does it say, they have many many kinds, and names. wow on there site they just say extra heavy. what gauge is it?? it's a guess lol well i'm not buying.geezz it's online give me details. they dont have these in stores here. well there site sucks.
The Turtles get it, when they mine the material to make the picks. Yes Sorry! that's right, there really is no way out for turtles, they are gonna get it, what ever you do. Wouldn't be a Turtle for Quids
