Oh you should be. I believe it is a blessing for you. But have you considered that may be you could become as strong willed as him. Most likely is you won't. But have you ever wished to as superhuman as him. Be so willed that you won't let fate decide you future. Well I have but I never taken a step towards it. I have tried but failed because I am weak and pathetic. But I know I can be someone great. Cause I believe every human being on this planet has the potential but won't that the first step. Cuz I and many like me are stuck in this hope to be something great but too scared to take the step. I have dreams to reach the stars but to scared to extend my arms cuz I see myself as weak and pathetic. But who knows maybe the stars are closer that you think and you can reach with your tiny, weak and frail arms. But you let your doubts and fears to consume you. And won't even try. But I am just a teenager who knows nothing of this world.
Was going to say Ike seems to have inspiration of Golden Age Guts in him. The entire is a Mercenary wielding a 2 hand sword and more blunt battle ready. Especially compared to most the series being more Centered on Nobles.
"where am I? What are these overly saturated colors? Why are everyone's eyes so big? AAAAAAAAAGGHHHH! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT, GRIFFITH!!!!!!!" Proceeds to paint the Fire Emblem world red and black, until Schierke calms him down.
I like to image Guts and Shinji suddenly switching places. Like "Guts get in the robot and fight the angel!" "Angel?" "Yes, you have to- no what wait get in the eva first!" "GRRRIIIIIFFFIIIITTTHHHH" Dunno its dumb but lightens my mood
All this video has done for me is giving me the mental image of Guts class-changing. And my mind is going full on "does not compute" at the idea of Guts as a healer or mage...
Nah, Guts' progression path would be predetermined. He would go mercenary>swordmaster (or a unique class, probably called black swordsman, so he could use his cannon, crossbow, and knives as ranged weapons).
If Robin was anything like Guts, it would have made his relationship with Chrom so much deeper and meaningful. A man who has experienced the failure of friendship and a man who always believes in it even when told to his face that it's destined to fail.
Esteban Maysonet Honestly, all it would take is to remove the whole amnesia plot. Let Robin grow up knowing his dark destiny and doing whatever he could to avoid it while it keeps trying to chase him down. Then let him join Chrom and learn to give him a chance. That would make things much more interesting.
well... in three houses, the main character does end up wielding a big-ass sword (of course, with no weight and also it's a whip-sword lmao) and the most important point of the story is marked by treason from a white-haired, charismatic lesder, followed by a timeskip. So maybe they did take small hints from Berserk after all
What’s ironic is this is what people wanted in the SMTxFire Emblem crossover. A Fire Emblem game that covers darker themes and stories. Instead we got a Persona title with a light coat of Fire Emblem painted over.
As someone who is currently up to date with Berserk Golden Age is indeed an upbeat fire emblem plot. Except with more dark and shit that makes you go "holy fuck"
Great points. I do wanna throw this bit out there, but not necessarily as a defense for Robin though. Iirc Awakening was rushed and story content pertaining to him and a certain boss were cut. As was evident with Echoes. I do hope Byleth gets challenges as a character, I think Ike was the last main character to actually face personal challenges that were significant to him as a character. And I hope Byleth gets similar if not better adversity than Ike or Seliph did.
@@basilofgoodwishes4138 yeah but in my eyes as a fire emblem fan, I just see him as a huge pain in my ass during the second half of the story in his route.
Dimitri's story was amazing until the event leading up to his epiphany that turned him into a nice guy again which felt forced, rushed and a little unbelievable.
When I watched the '97 Berserk, my first time being exposed to the series at all, I thought to myself "This reminds me a whole lot of Fire Emblem!" I think this is time I've seen or heard someone make a similar comparison. It was nice to hear.
Yeah man I wish, Ike was kind of a very family friendly Guts in some aspects , but would love to see them go all the way Ooh also interested in more FE videos :)
Imagine Guts become a teacher in Fire Emblem Three Houses, he opens up for his students. Casca is nursed back from her insanity, Guts starts to believe that he found his new home in Monastery . . . and then Edelgard betray him and the church and starts a war where monastery is badly hit ( just like in game ) and Casca dies because of that. Then he became a Dark Knight and start a journey for revenge . . . all that when Soltis try to seek reason in his soul . . . Jesus Christ that would be a game of a fucking year . . .
Wasn’t expecting this video, but it was awesome none the less. I’m very interested in those other Fire Emblem video ideas and will be pretty stoked if you made them but no pressure
Skull Knight would also be a perfect Jagen archetype character. He's wiser and more powerful than the protagonist at first, but the main character has the potential to outgrow them in strength. Also having Guts promote from the "Swordsman" class to the "Struggler" class upon obtaining the berserker armor would be fitting beyond words imo. I love and hate this video now because it's getting me to fantasize about things that'll never come to be
Amazing video If anyone wants a "dark" FE game, then how about checking out Genealogy of The Holy War? That is the darkest FE has gone ever and also check out Thracia 777, since that game also happens very close to Genealogy. If you are a fan of Berserk, then for sure you will enjoy those games
@@BOOFIRE191 fe4 has been called by many to be the best in the series for its twists and dark tones. It's kinda difficult, but a walkthrough would help you through it easily.
@@BOOFIRE191 A bit late, but Genealogy is one of the easier games in the series. It has a very unique and different gameplay style compared to the rest of the franchise.
Nobody talks about those because kids do these don't talk don't play those games they just complain about the 3DS ones. Even though one of the 3DS games save the franchise.
*But can he survive Reinhardt's double bright slap?!* (Reinhardt is voiced by English Bright and kind looks like him) I don't mind Robin as a character but the Grima thing really works more to their detriment. I think Self Inserts in FE are a good idea but I think the lord should be the protagonist and you should be just the tactician. With Corrin I think they should have made them more book smart. They've been locked in a fort with the greatest knight in all of Nohr right? It would make sense that they be competent in war on paper but be poor at interacting with people and understanding the real world. In a 2 generation story I think Oifey works as a good base model for a protagonist.
Apostles and the God hand would be interesting villains in the Fire Emblem universe especially in a 'warriors' themed game.. I wonder how characters like Marth, Ike, Byleth and others would fare against them.
Now that its been a good length of time since Three Houses came out, how do you feel about the game and the main protagonist? what would your ideal fire emblem game be?
Hectors closer. Big. Berserking. Emotionally closed. Wants to be the very member in any battle that turns it into a decisive victory. Accomplishes such.
Also the perfect fire emblem game needs a little more in game hype building for battles and such, For me at least, add a little bit of the flavour of making characters epic from dynasty warriors, sprinkle it into a journey through a map with branching paths, change the writing so your personal my unit is a little more guts like and human, and make the protagonist more of an under dog in a way similar to when gannon uses his clever planning to either make the master sword the equivalent of a toothpick against him, or take the triforce of courage, and have the antagonist do so with whatever mechanic allows your my unit to be so powerful. That way your characters grey morally, with companions who have their own personal goals, without a trump card. Hell even throw in characters into the party (and not just the backround) that you can work with just to see them betray you on the battlefield. Within a world where you are meeting the difficulties and tribulations of navigating country to country to take out said menace, coming across local and international threats. By the time that big bad evil guy gets taken down, it would be super satisfying. And throw in some dark souls style world building to boot.
@Wil E the only differrences is their value. dimitri only kills a murderer, while guts don't give a damn on who he's killing as long as they get in his way. edit: guts also hate a holy man who kill in the name of god.
@Wil E waiiit a minute? did he literally kill anyone and everything? i know he killed a lot of people, but did he killed someone else as a "collateral damage"?
Some guy expressed surprise about "no Berserk games existing" so I typed out this response but then you yeeted your original upload of this video and my comment wouldn't post. Hopefully he sees it here. Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage for Dreamcast is the first Berserk game made and is the second most available game in the west. It features an original plot and Hack n' Slash action but suffers from the chunkiness that plagued early 3D games. Berserk Millennium Empire Arc: Chapter of the Holy Demon War for PS2 is the second Berserk game made but is the hardest to get into as it was only released in Japan. Fan translations exist but with the crackdown on Rom/Iso hosting sites getting your hands on a working, translated Iso will take a bit of effort. Berserk and the Band of the Hawk for PS3, PS4, PSVita, & PC is the most recent and readily available Berserk game. It plays like a Dynasty Warriors clone so the gameplay doesn't express the series' themes very well.
Not sure if it's been done before (at least with FE Warriors, you kind of have something similar, but since you do return to the status quo by the end of the game, I don't think it'd be the same), but I was thinking what if the first chapter or so of the game's play out like that, where our main protagonist is fighting an army with trusted allies, only to then have them lose in front of him and probably die, and he becomes one of the only survivors left. Then he eventually meets up with another Lord or wanderer and ends up joining his party because a band of brigands (bandits) decide to assault them and a nearby village? You could have it that maybe certain events let you show you what the dude's life was prior to that event and maybe get to know and grow attached to the old "hawks", and by the time of the final battle, you end up fighting the two battles simultaneously, one that most surely would still end in defeat, while the other comes close, but due to events that happen in the fight, you get a chance to overcome the odds. (Heck, you could even make the game have permadeath as a default again - even though I hated it - , but make it similar to casual by also letting you retreat your units from the fight should they hit critical health, with the catch that they can do a strong counter attack once after reaching said state without healing, and if they don't kill their assailant by the time they get boosted, they could die.
@@ursaber I'm not good on the lore of the Buster sword, but I feel the Dragonslayer is better, as it has bathed in the blood of so many demons that it can kill spirits.
So what we need is a third tellius game where Ike's ideals are smashed at the beginning of the game. And the ghost of the black knight keeps showing up to haunt him.
Micaiah from FE RD gets a lot of flak, but honestly she was one of my favorite Lord units for both gameplay and story reasons. Gameplay because she's a Lord that isn't solo the game overpowered and has higher utility in a support role, and story because she's a nuanced character with ideals, struggles, notable accomplishments, flaws, notable failures, a past, growth, a future, relationships, and isn't always The Hero (looking at you, vast majority of FE protagonists).
Interesting note about Byleth as a name: it first appears in a book called the Ars Goetia, part of the Lesser Key of Solomon. The Lesser Key of Solomon deals with demonology, and describes Byleth as a "mighty and terrible king of hell, who has eighty-five legions of demons under his command." When summoned, he "gives all the love of men and women until the conjuror is satisfied".
The problem with Corrin was also the theme of the game itself not being balanced with the FE setting. The problem is that Fates, at it's core, is a Story about him discovering his true Family and fighting for them, despite one part of his family being on the side of Evil(this giving us the idea that you should work for bad people, because Family, a.k.a being pro-abuse), no matter how you justify it. That was not properly balanced with FE being a war setting and encourages, if not totally agrees with the disgusting notion, that the suffering of non family members is ok and as long it's for family, it's OK, as seen perfectly for Conquest. Corrin being a self-insert is not the biggest issue, it's the theme of Fates itself making a pointless dilemma.
Guts could easily be a side char but never a main cause they treat it like a self insert in recent times with fates and Three houses. He'd be a better written tough guy of the group.
The series has always been on the more optimistic side of things with it’s themes of friendship but it feels like you didn’t play the games before Awakening? There have been plenty of interesting characters, and plots that challenged those characters in the past. Awakening and Fates were story low points for the series, Fates obviously being fathoms below all else. You should check out the GBA titles and the Radiance games for stories with lots more going on. Admittedly it’s been many years since I’ve played them, but I can say for certain the writing there was a lot stronger than what Awakening and Fates had to offer.
Guts is basically a more extreme ike I agree with you that the character player shouldn't be the main character. Corrin was garbage. I actually like FE conquest I believe it could of been epic if corrin was erased and then maybe make Xander and Royima love the same woman or something for them to hate each other alot more.
But I mean, how should the gameplay mechanics be? The series is basically Guts slaying people, and later Apostoles, most of the times alone. So how would the strategy system, that is Fire Emblem's core, work?
Easy, say it with me. ISEKAI. No apostles or Griffith, just Guts getting thrown in a new world in the middle of a conflict he literally doesn`t care about, trying to get home and maybe eventually remembering he actually once cared about people through the new people he meets. This ain`t ever happening but i figure something like that might work.
@@quintonthevillain2745 here is my idea, remember Guts left the band after the hundred years war or he hunts down the apostles after he the the Dragon Slayer. let's say in those 2 yrs. time he got teleport to other world (the FE) and he wanders land to know where he is. He sees a town he hears about the war and stumbled onto the protagonist.( I don't know the story of new FE)
