I haven’t tried his food or cigar yet but I do know he is a great guy, I was living in northern Cali when the fire wiped out paradise ca he came up unannounced and cooked for all the firefighters and people that had lost their homes, he didn’t want people coming up because he was there he just wanted to help
I’m new here. But originally a cig smoker for 15 years. Quit for 2 years. Now smoke cigars every other day. And save the premiums for special occasions. This is a solid episode. Thanks Tim
Guy talking about the smells triggering memories is so true! I bought some pipe tobacco because the aroma was exactly what I remembered going to my dad's parents as a kid. My grandad used to smoke roll up cigarettes and they would always have a tin of liquorice allsorts and the tobacco I bought smelt of the coconut monster eyes from Bassetts All Sorts and my grandads roll up tobacco!
I can’t distinguish notes very well but once in a while I’m like “this tastes like Christmas when I was a kid” or some random memory tied to the scent or taste
We have a great cigar lounge in Traverse City MI. called Nolans downtown. My son took me there several years ago and asked me to simply trust him, he got me a dark leaf cigar, and a glass of Dragons Milk, WOW! I was blown away the flavors went together in pure happiness, never skip trying something new! Thanks guys!
The cigar that gave me the "AHA" moment, was when I had my first PDR Andalusian Bull. It knocked my socks off. This is followed by a Undercrown Maduro and a Serie V Melanio. Those really trip my trigger!
34 years old… only been smoking cigars for 1 year never smoked anything before… initially I’d get really sick, kept at it. And now pretty much I buy new cigars every time and have wow moments all the time. I always keep some buffalo trace in my humidor because it was my first…. You always remember your first. Recently got a Lunatic from Cigars daily and that will be my Saturday. Lol
Gotta say, my AHA moment and cigar was with the Undercrown Maduro. It was the third cigar I had ever bought, and I picked it off the shelf because green is my favorite color. As soon as I lit it, I got hit with Mexican hot chocolate, kinda spicy, but with heavy chocolate notes. To this day one of my all time favorites.
Tatuaje reserve... went to a brick and mortar shop wanted something different and remember when i picked it up i wanted something mid range price, but without all the blingy wrapper. To my surprise i was rewarded with excellent construction, great flavors and strength! What i loved most about it was that i knew i could smoke this about anytime of the day due to its pleasant aromas and smoothness. Definitely looking to pick up a box to share with friends for future events or hang outs!
Guy is such a cool guy. He committed to a crazy, zany style, and despite any shit he takes for it, he lives his life authentically. Every time he talks about flavor or food or drink you can tell the raw passion he has for every second of life. Mad props to him for jumping into this business and being such a legend
This Was SO SO SO Cool. Ive been watching DDD since its conception. Ive been smoking cigars since the 70's, you know, the TINDERBOX was the only tobacco shop that I could go to that wasn't a Rexall Drug Stores. My AHHH HA moment came with a Padron 1926 maduro. It was heaven and the other AH HAA moment was Hoyo De Monterey, Double Corona cuban. I retired now and I cant really afford premium cigars anymore. My cigar smoking is one per day, usually in the evening with a cup of good espresso. My favorite pairing, A HOMEWRECKER, big old polish, yellow mustard, sweet relish and onions on top. A Coca Cola and afterwards an EPC Inch Maduro. That's a perfect day and match for me.
I am not much for celebrity anything, really. This is actually something done right, and it is so cool to hear how it came about. Thanks for sharing! I love Guy, such a real dude.
I love this - love watching Guy and love Eric Espinosa cigars - a marriage made in heaven! Going to my cigar lounge tomorrow to try the Knuckle Sandwich!
My aha moment was definitely when I had Montecristo white series. The first time I had that cigar it blew me away, maybe truly fall in love with Cigars.
First time I had a cigar it was the Avo classic #2 given to me by one of my customers about 8 months ago and then became my friend at the restaurant ,after many times of trying to get me to smoke a cigar I finally did and man I got hooked , line and sinker . Very shortly after the I bought my first humidor cause I wanted to have as many cigars as I can . Now I love everything about them aside from just smoking, I love the whole ensemble that goes with cigar smoking, the different cutters, lighters and of course the different types of cigars and what I love mostly is the camaraderie that comes with smoking cigars or just sitting back and forgetting about the world for about an hour or so.
Regarding pronunciation of Guy's last name, I took Spanish in school, and...if I remember correctly...the "H" in Hoyo de Monterey is _silent._ Si? 😉 Beyond that, I love that Guy talked about planning and looking forward to smoking a great cigar...waiting for that moment, that open window of _Me Time._ Once there, I have fallen in love with the _ceremony_ of cigars! Unwrap, smell, cut, dry draw, taste, toast, blow, draw, hold, exhale...long and slow...taste, _relax!!!_ Having said that, I don't like to smoke _before or with_ a meal because I find the smoke coats my tongue and interferes with the flavors. Stogies and booze are my dessert!
Enjoyed listening to the passion in the voices. Funny how smell is a great memory container. That's why I started smoking cigars, selfishly wanting to leave an imprint on my kids so when I'm gone and they smell a cigar it takes them right back to memories of the good times when they were younger.
Great interview! The last time a cigar surprised me was when I tried the Nub Each wrapper option was great I thought it was just a marketing ploy Its just a great cigar!
I was so angry when I first saw the Knuckle Sandwich logo on a cigar, in a shop. I was like... someone straight-up stole this logo from Guy Fieri ! It took a couple of days, but i researched it and found out is was a compilation from Espinosa and Fieri. I am a huge fan of Guy, and of cigars, in general. My worlds have collided in a spectacular way. Congratulations, to all three of you. May success and good times travel with you, always.
I had smoked for over 10 years about 1 to 3 a week. Then I had a 1926 Maduro #1 and now I help support the industry. It changed from a social experience to a hobby.
New cigar smoker and love Java mints and deadwood’s. Huge fan of Drew estates larutan. Was my first ah ha moment. I only had one and they don’t make them any more. Recently it was a Rocky Patel 10th anniversary. So smooth and buttery. Amazing cigar and blew me away.
Great f'ing interview man, I loved this. Love the handshake contract. I'm gonna have to buy a few knuckle sandwiches now. For me the La Aroma Mi Amor was the first cigar that really captured me with the flavor notes.
Got hooked when I smoked an Arturo Fuente Double Chateau Maduro. Smoked on and off for 15 years and it hit me. Don't know why BUT, at that moment, I loved everything about that smoke. It was a time and place.
my cigar was the Fat Bottom. I had tried a few and was on the fence. My brother came to town and he wanted to smoke something so we went to the local smoke shop as we don't have a proper cigar shop where I live and we asked the owner what he recommended. He came over and told us about the fat bottom. We took it home as well as a bulldog smoking a Cuban collectors stein. I have been into them ever since.
First one was with a Oliva O Maduro, then a Liga Privada T52. Til those almost every cigar tasted identical to me. Now I go back and try some of the ones I didn’t like at the beginning and I start to appreciate some of them.
The knuckle sandwich maduro really blew me away as a beginner cigar enjoyer, I've bought it 4 separate times with other stocks and I'm always like mmm can't wait to smoke that one out of the other mystery flavors I explore. Haven't tried the habano or chefs special yet. AWESOME episode Tim!
@@Chris-ul2zu stays fairly consistent. Had a little difference here and there between sticks, but for the most part, spicey light up that fades back a bit going into the 2nd third. Highly recommend you try it if you haven't. Also Espinosas comfortably numb vol 1 was a good one, not as spicy but still great flavors
I actually just picked one up yesterday off of a recommendation from the guy at the counter of my local store and I'm definitely gonna smoke it tonight after seeing this I'd love to see whiskey or tequila pairing with it
Cigar snobs make fun of me but the cigar that started it all for me was Deadwood tobacco co Leather Rose Torpedo. My second fav was knuckle sandwich which I had no idea was Guys brand. But those two got me hooked. I’m still new. Just got my 1st humidor and I absolutely love cigars
Great video, I have loved Guy's shows for years! Just a genuinely nice guy. I have not had my ah-ha moment yet, I just know if I like one or not. I am sure it will happen.
Grateful to Guy and Erik--this is a 'W' for the industry, as a whole, and it's awesome to see someone in Guy's lane as real and genuinely passionate for the industry as Guy. Cheers! Jon Huber
I have had a couple of ah ha moments.... One of them was a Rocky Patel grand reserve. The draw was fantastic, the bite, the spice, the snap on the toungue. Very nice. I will be picking up a knuckle sandwitch sometime soon. I seen it a couple of times and seeing this, there is no way I can pass up trying a Fieri cigar.
My "aha!!!!" cigar was the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Nestor IV. I started smoking it and was like "oh that's what creamy is!!!!" I had a Cheshire cat grin on my face the whole time I smoked it
My aha moment after about 100 cigars was the Pistoff Kristoff. It was when I finally started to enjoy and look forward to all that comes form smoking a good flavorful cigar. I always have one on hand. Always!
Erik is the best, Hector is the goat, and Guy, well, what more needs to be said? A match made in cigar heaven. I smoke the shit out of all the Knuckle Sandwich lines. They are fantastic! Especially The CT. Great work fellas!
Funny my son just told me last night he smoked a knuckle sandwich and it was one of the best cigars he’s had. I’ll give it a try. My go to is the Hemingway
'my ahhh moment'. CAO Consigliere. Was 1 year in experimenting with sweet cigars but when my friend gave me the CAO I figured out what a good cigar can be and stopped all the sweet & cheap cigars. No comparison.
Guy is the only person who can still pull off the frosted-tips hair cut from the 90's. I hope you get to do some kind of DDD but with cigar factories in the future.
My AH HA moment for me was actually my 2nd cigar a month ago My Fathers The Judge it was the first time I tasted flavor. I tasted chocolate and was immediately hooked now I can't get enough of cigars and i watch this channel daily and my Cigars Daily Review Journal and 4 pack sampler and Flathead 660 will be delivered today and i cant wait. and my humidor that i set up last week has been staying aroung 60 70 degrees and 68% humidity but cigars is a whole new world and after this I need to get me a couple of Knuckle Sandwhiches
Guy, you are a really cool fellow. I have enjoyed cigars for a long time and was totally unaware you had your own line. I'm going to buy some and give them a try alone with your Tequila!
