I met Guy in 2017 at the TT. I wanted him to sign my helmet. I waited in the que and spoke to him while he signed my helmet . As a thank you I gave him a packet of Yorkshire tea bags and some smackos for Nigel… He then smiles and tells me how much of a smack addicted Nigel was lol LEGEND !

I was an HGV fitter, long ago on Scania and Volvo. To achieve 100% MOT pass rate is a mark of excellence akin to 3 star Michellin, I didn't achieve it. Chapeaux Mr Martin.

Guy's passion is addictive, he is a dying breed of proper grafters from the UK, I totally get what he said when he said the merlin engine will be in the living room as he just likes to look at it! It's the work that has gone into I that makes it great to look at and makes it beautiful!

It is BONKERs.. those 600's sound "Under Powered"... these lads are SQUEEEAZING every last Rpm out of them .... but if a civilian opened one of these bikes wide open on a normal rode.. all HELL would break loose!

The Rolls Royce Merlin IS the ULTIMATE of engines - yes! Mythical! I’m like Guy. I “get” that engine. I own a 500hp Porsche Cayenne 4.8 litre V8 twin turbo SUV, An Audi A8 supercharged V6 & an 1890cc V Twin Indian Motorcycle. And yes it doesn’t get any better than the RR Merlin.

A young version of the steaplejack Fred Dibnah, he even has that little high pitch laugh. Lovely bloke, he could buy me a pint any day

In my honest opinion, Guy Martin deserves a gong. He's a completely normal bloke working hard (I know I'm a Light and Heavy road transport engineer and Ex RAf Armourer) hard work dirty hands black finger nails, as he says it's what built Britain and put us where we are today. Forget all those nonce's who kick a bag of wind and think they are something special because they've been on TV for fifteen minutes. How long was it before Fred Dibnah got a gong and how brilliant was he. Guy is the new Fred in my opinion. Lets see more engineering episodes, especialy with Guy's humour. Me Mam is Eighty Six and she loves seeing him, in her words 'Proper down to earth bloke and right in everything he says'.
