I love how complicated in its simplicity this is. Look at it and you think "That's not too hard" pick the bass up "Why is my thumb in the middle of my hand now?"
This song is currently enjoying a second coming, thanks to a certain film, and you know what, I’m here for it. It’s great seeing a new generation falling in love with Murder On The Dancefloor, and of course, the bass! A wonderful, uplifting, fun record, that takes me back to being 20 again 😀 so yeah, thanks ❤
Hi Guy, after the comment from the hospital for "one sleep" I'm finally back home after 17 days. Needless to say, your videos have kept me great company and I have watched them many times passing from one to the other. I am writing today because I want to compliment you because your great sympathy and empathy, in addition to your well-known and undisputed musical talent, are human qualities that are by no means negligible. Even with today's video you have demonstrated it not of your talent that I repeat is undisputed, but of your openness to music and art in general. It's so nice to listen while you play a song by Pink Floyd and then to see how naturally you move on to a nice piece of disco music like this one in the video. For my conditions your idea of the "lockdowm licks" is exceptional. Now I hope, as I think many others who follow you, you will want to dedicate a piece played with Brian Ferry to us. Ciao Guy, ciao to everyone. William
I had no idea you played this baseline . One of my absolute fav disco bass lines ever,70's or otherwise. I'd also like to note that I have Betty's twin sister . A 1965 Burgundy Mist Fender Jazz .
@@guypratt7104 Well, if I ever see one on the market I'll let you know Guy - very small finders fees ;-) Just revisiting this vid as been asked to play this at a wedding later in the summer, thought I'd get the word from the one who knows !! Cheers
I watched this during the lockdown as I remembered Sophie’s song when it came out in the early 2000’s. It was like an awesome time capsule back to 78. Anyway thanks, Guy for the story on the bass for this song!
I've always loved this bass line, just as you are one of my greatest idols on the instrument. But I didn't know you had recorded that song! Thank you for sharing with us!
Kiss And Tell, one of my favourite Guy-lines to play along to, along with Beautiful and Waiting For The Sunshine from Jimmy Nails Growing up In Public album, in fact all the basslines on that album are bloody top notch ! Thanks so much for your contribution and influence in my playing over the years Guy, you're a treasure mate.
Guy, Thanks so much for sharing thebasslines of the songs to which you have contributed to during your musical career. I have been following your channel and started learning the songs from the videos. Good practice and lots of fun. All the best
Thanx for covering the background instruments....Good to see you doing so well through these crazy times. And above all else, thanx for doing these videos, they sure have helped.
