It is… Definitely a cool budget mod that adds some tuning stability and sustain. I’m definitely looking forward to the Trem-vid. I haven’t done a mod like it yet, so it’s going to be a “Learn as you go” process 😆

I have one of their microtuners tailpieces on my Epiphone Les Paul. I quite like it. This is next on my upgrade list, as well as a black one for my BC Rich Virgo. Especially since my toddler likes to yank at my strings and recently popped the D strings on both of those axes, right at the bridge.

I’m going to have a video coming soon with their Duesenberg style tremolo on this guitar. I’m really looking forward to seeing how that works. Their locking tuners are great as well!

@FretboardDiaries , I'm hoping for some improvement in tuning stability. Although that actually hasn't been an issue with the bridge on my FFST. I THINK 99.9% of my issue is at the terrible vintage style string trees. Which I am also replacing with Guyker parts. Next will be locking tuners.

I tried to install one of these on my IYV IP-350 PRS clone, but the overall profile was slightly higher than the stock bridge, and it simply wouldn’t go low enough. For some guitars, the Wilkinson roller bridge design with the locking roller saddles might be a better choice, since it has a lower profile. Another problem I found was that the roller bridge doesn’t seem to dampen the vibrations as sharply, causing unwanted sympathetic resonances behind the bridge on my IYV, which does not use a stop bar tailpiece, but rather string through body design like a Telecaster, with a length behind the bridge somewhat like a Jazzmaster. This resonance problem is probably not a problem on most LP-style or 335-style guitars, which have much less length of string behind the bridge and sharper break angles.

Hmmm that’s interesting… It does seem slightly higher, like 1.5mm or so… This would also explain why I had to do another turn of the screw down for the action. I would say that if your posts are all the way down, then this bridge may not be a good option. I still have some room to go lower, but it explains why I had to do another full turn (on the new post), when I had measured the post height of the previous bridge and used that as a starting point. I didn’t have an issue with any resonance thankfully, it did feel like I had a bit more sustain which was a plus. Notes seemed to hold on a bit longer but thankfully, no resonance. What you’re saying makes sense though… I’m gonna put a Duesenberg Style trem on this guitar soon, so we’ll see how that goes 😂

@@FretboardDiaries Let me guess, is it a Guyker clone of the Dusenberg trem? Those are good too, from other reviews I’ve seen-they seem to have decent enough build quality, and while it may not have the range of a Strat-style trem, it probably has about as much range as a Bigsby, and they’re much simpler and less “invasive” to install than a Bigsby, if that makes sense.

@zuperdee Yup sure is… They were kind enough to send me one along with this bridge for review… So should be fun, I have no experience with installing one but doesn’t look that difficult. So I’ll be doing the vid from the perspective of a first timer, which is a good thing. I’m not a big trem guy but it’s nice for when you need it, like the solo from Yellow Ledbetter and others

@@FretboardDiaries I’m not much of a trem guy either, which may be one reason why I don’t like Strats, but I will admit, a Trem for a Les Paul or an SG certainly seems preferable to bending your guitar neck for the occasional pitch drop, the way Wally Bryson did at the end of The Raspberries’ song “Go All The Way,” which BTW, is deceptively difficult to play! (It actually has a LOT of chords in it, and while it does use some Keith Richards-style chord moves, Wally used some rather unusual chord voicings that are actually rather surprising and challenging!)

Hey thanks for the kind words… With regards to modding experience, I’ve been playing/modding/working on guitars for 30 years (yes I’m that old 😂) I’ve never been a “Luthier” or worked in the field, I’ve just always enjoyed the process of working on instruments. Oddly enough, I’ve learned sooooo much from commenters on RU-vid, guys that are like, “Hey, have you tried it this way” or “Here’s a better way to fix that” Sometimes they may even point out a tool that I wasn’t aware of. So I have found the RU-vid guitar community to be awesome as well! Overall it’s been great experience
