Guyver 2 The dark hero is for more better than the first one... at least we got David Hater as Guyver 1

The sequel is definitely superior, with a likeable lead (played by David Hayter, the guy who voiced Solid Snake) & a more consistent tone to the film. The fighting seems to be more polished too from what I remember. I thought Hamill would've been the Guyver, but when they went with a charisma vacuum, I was turned away & I don't want to see it again, especially when Hamill gets the axe.

I watched the sequel Dark Hero basically on loop as a kid. They made it R rated instead of PG13 and it stars Solid Snake.

I don't watch anime often.. but when I do, I watch Guyver. ... you gotta watch the sequel, Dark Hero. It's not as polished, but it's R-Rated Power Rangers with a tolerable protagonist (same character, but someone who actually qualifies as an actor). Also, no sqeaky shoes in the score.

As Iain was saying about anime, Manga Entertainment used the Celtic Frost song The Heart Beneath for promotional purposes.

LMAO David Gale is still in his Re-Animator role, with the whole rapey stare and finger lip touching scene.

I always look forward to Thursday's as I know you guys will be popping up with a review. Seriously one of the highlights of my week.

Jimmy Walker's line is from the series Good Times, which was in the 70's.

When I was a kid in this mid 90s I thought the Guyver was the coolest movie ever.

The New Line Cinema US VHS copy cut out a lot of the silliness and has more violence than most blu ray and DVD releases. Worth checking out.

I remember this when it first released it was retitled mutronics in uk. I had a blast watching it and was fascinated by the guyver lore. Took a while but when manga video started releasing the video magazine every month I bought every tape and was blown away by it. There is still potential for a great movie to be made and I hope one day there will but not holding my breath. The final fight sequence in dark hero is still amazing though, that's in my top 25 fight scenes of all time.

I really can't blame the film. When it comes to live action video games and anime adaptations, most of them are not that good. Yes, most of them. There are "decent" adaptations. But that's the closest they get lol Anyway, it's always fun to see the boys joking and losing their minds! Classic Iain & Gary! Great review you guys!

I'm not huge on anime, but I do enjoy some, especially the 80s and early 90s ones. Guyver was the first one i ever saw, and the first animated anything i saw that was super violent and bloody, i loved it lol. Didnt see this movie till a few years later and I hated it cause they butchered the story so bad. The sequel is alot better, while it still doesnt follow the story and does it's own thing mostly it's more true to tone and the action is alot better. The suit does look good in this though for time.

I was lucky as kid to sneak down at night some days and see anime on late night channel 4, Fist of the North star, Akira, Guyver, vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll.. All those sexy super violent animes a child shouldn't have been watching. 😂 I loved this film and its follow up, so glad to see it getting a review off you lads. 😎 When it comes to anime to live action adaptions, you could do alot worse than the Guyver.. 😂😭 Big up Iain for throwing Dragon Ball into his list. 💜

Those Zoanoids look like Gremlins I think

The VHS of this film is a different cut of the film its actually shorter and has slightly gore it also cuts the opening text crawl and those silly screen transitions as well as some of the more goofy stuff , it's still a goofy film but a tighter slightly less goofy version of the film and for some reason it's not called guyver it's called mutronics

This film is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, after seeing this movie on HBO when it first came out (and instantly falling in love with it) i was introduced to the 80's anime series and the animated Guyver movie, eventually i saw dark hero. Around 2007 i got to see the rebooted show and determined that the original movie sucked but was still just as fun. This movie holds a special place in my heart because it turned me on to anime; gore, fights, story and dialogue. I'd rate it either a 5 or 6 personally.

I just streamed this for my Kamen Rider group last weekend! Total classic! Looking forward to the sequel review!

Jeezo, i haven't watched this since i was 12 or 13 back in 1991/92, but it was called Mutronics though. I quite liked it, it's cheesy but fun and the practical FX are pretty cool. Awesome review guys 👍

In Australia we got it here as Mutronics but me and my mates knew it was Guyver but lads you need to watch the second animated series of the franchise Guyver Bio Boostered Armour the show is actually better but the second one is pretty cool too Guyver Dark Hero and has David Hayter as the new Guyver in that second movie 😊🤟

I've seen this movie and Guyver 2 dark hero and I'm very familiar with the manga Guyver bioboosted armor it's a pretty interesting series if you ever get a chance to watch it

I'm glad you guys reviewed another movie I like. I just don't like the camp that they did in this movie. The sequel Guyver II: Dark Hero is light-years way better. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend watching that and all three versions of Anime of The Guyver. The 1986 OVA movie Guyver: Out of Control, the OVA series from 1989-1992 and the 2005 TV series you mentioned. A lot of my younger friends are finally getting into The Guyver franchise and are digging it. Guyver has been a big favorite in my Manga and Anime collection for many years.

I'd recommend you guys watch "I am a hero" it's a gory Japanese zombie film, think "train to Busan" with loads of gore and creepy looking zombies

My dad used to buy me copied manga video tapes from his mate at work when I was a kid (an obsession that started with wicked city and street fighter 2 anime) We both watched cybercity oedo 808, ad police, genocyber, guyver etc together when my mum had nights out with her friends every other Friday. So naturally when this aired on the sci fi Channel (way past my bedtime) my dad got my grandad to tape it because we didn't have sky at the time....so many wwf Raw and nitro tapes haha rip grandad. Suffice to say my ten year old self was far from impressed especially after loving data 1-12 of the original Guyver series so Damn much. Anime and heavy metal was how my father and I bonded and this was an Awful film, I remember the two of us being gutted haha the sequel was awesome (as far as made for tv production goes) Just an anecdote lol Thanks again for making my depression less depressing for a day. Looking forward to next weeks review already x

This film is right between the line to be cool or be silly, is an interesting mix of japan and american production and they put a lot into it to bring this character to live action, the performances with well known actors involved over all some are good some silly but that give charm to to characters, anyway besides all that back then it get some succes and spawn a franchise of movies and later squels get a better production and cast, just as the otsr boys said is worth to watch this movie and have some fun

Love the manga, watched both animated series and saw the out of control movie. But it was the live action movies that introduced me to the lore, and holy hell are they awful.

Now I think,in the interest of Diversity and inclusion and fairness and whatever other nice happy-sounding words I’m forgetting,there needs to be a follow-up called The Gal-ver.

I cant believe you Gary, you liked the first one more then the second one? WOW! Almost make me want to unsubscribe again after the "dissapearance" lain, for better part of a year! Second one is more mature and has more badass fighting scenes, whereas the first one IS CHEESE EXTRAVAGANZA, and don't get me started with that annoying GREMLIN RAPPER!
