@@NewLayer I think Zhiun 100 W molus 100 Iphone size light is just unbeatable. They came in this sector and nailed it from the first try.

@@__-yp5bx I agree! Their F100 wand/tube lights are also amazing. I can't wait to see what they release next.

Thanks for the review! Been searching for a good, affordable video light with battery option. Seems like I found it. :)

Glad it was helpful! Here's another option that's even cheaper if you're interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2PbbX0HxITo.html No mobile app control and it's daylight only, but...

@@NewLayer oooh nice. But I just checked: it's 99 here. And I could get the SD80D kit with stand and softbox for 159. Guess that's a good deal.
@perspectivestudioscaribbea5899
Loving this light, looking like this is my next light, especially the kit with the softbox, thanks dude 😎👍🏾
@NewLayer
@NewLayer Год назад
Glad this video was helpful! I think the one thing to keep in mind is that the soft box is not a quick-release type, so the 8 rods are individual pieces. Once it's setup, it's all good, but it does take longer to setup and take down, so if you want something you can put away flat after every use, that's worth knowing.
@perspectivestudioscaribbea5899
@@NewLayer Thanks, I think I'll go for the light by itself and get a softbox from Ulanzi which is a quick release type

Very nice review man I just bought two of them cause the offer 218€ one plus one Could you know if you can fit from codox for example ,front covers and which ones ? Thanks a lot
@NewLayer
@NewLayer 7 дней назад
Nice! These are Bowens mount lights, so they'll fit any Bowens mount modifiers. Godox makes a lot of Bowens mount modifiers, but also some Godox-mount modifiers, so just make sure before you buy them.

What is the difference between the D and the S? I didn’t understand. Thank you for the video and happy new year
@NewLayer
@NewLayer 7 месяцев назад
The D stands for "dual", meaning it's bi-color, so the color temperature is adjustable. The S stands for "single", meaning it's single color/daylight (5600K) only.
@padiver

Thank you for your answer! I am definitely going to get the D model

Does it have a traditional thread on the bottom for switching between whichever tripod i choose? Just curious!

No, but if you get a spigot adapter kit, you can stick on in the mounting hole of the light to give it one! geni.us/spigotadapterkit

How would this work in a podcast studio environment. Do you believe it will be enough for key for a two-person set?
@NewLayer
@NewLayer 13 дней назад
I would recommend 2 lights for 2 people to get the best, most even lighting. 1 would work, and you might throw it in a lantern softbox for the easiest setup for multiple people.

Im a about to buy 4 of them! Would you go for sd80d or sd80s? Does sd80d have any advantage aside the variable temperature or is this the only difference? I will appreciate your help.
@NewLayer
@NewLayer Год назад
I would get the bi-color versions, and yes, the only difference is the color temperature adjustability.

How does it stack up with the Amaran 60D? They should be around the same price point.
@NewLayer
@NewLayer Год назад
The Amaran lights were slightly more color accurate in my testing, but not so much so that it matters practically in my opinion. And the SD80D was actually about 1/3 stop brighter than the Amaran 60x. The Amaran 60x is $179 on Amazon right now, and the SD80D is only $139, so a good deal cheaper. The Amaran lights come with a case and have the integrated battery clip for v-mount batteries, so it just depends on what's most important to you, but I will say if you plan to use NP-F batteries, it's much easier on the GVM light because they are integrated, whereas with the Amaran lights you need the plate and a cable.
@marcodimartino2810
@marcodimartino2810 Год назад
@@NewLayer so to put in perspective, the Amaran is less bright but more accurate, while this is more powerful yet slightly less precise. Gotcha!

TBH JT, I have purchased an EF-II60 from Jinbei after your review and beside being massively big, it’s really a solid piece of equipment.

@@marcodimartino2810 I think that Jinbei light is the reason why so many brands have come out with lights that support NP-F batteries now! :)

Those are great lights, i'm thinking on buying this from Neewer MS60C RGBWW For the same price I got all the colours, but they are 65w ... but do not know if it's the same lux power!?
@NewLayer
@NewLayer Год назад
Right now the SD80D is only $139 if you have Prime, at least in the US, so there is a decent price difference. I haven't tested that Neewer light specifically, but it's 65W instead of 80W, and bi-color + RGB instead of just bi-color, so it's likely about 2/3-1 full stop dimmer than the GVM SD80D or equivalent. You might also look at the COLBOR CL60R as well. It's all metal, has RGB support, as well as some other cool features/options. I just got it and it's pretty cool: geni.us/colborcl60r
@flaviopresutti
@flaviopresutti Год назад
@@NewLayer Good options! With the discounts of Amazon Prime right now the neweer it's $159 for me. I have 4 FS lights from Nanlite, I just want one RGB light more powerfull than my weeylite ... but for now I am saving, it's not the moment to Buy any more gear! Thanks you

If you compare with ml60ii, which one you would pick?
@NewLayer
@NewLayer 5 месяцев назад
The SD80 is better for you if you like the integrated battery slots and the Bowens mount. The ML60II is better if you want the most compact light possible and/or plan to use it handheld at all.

I don't seem to be able to find the GVM P80D model anywhere. Any idea why?
@NewLayer
@NewLayer 6 месяцев назад
The P80 is their old light that this one essentially replaced. I'm not sure they're still manufacturing it. I also don't think they ever made a bi-color version of that one.

What type of flash trigger do you recommend on this one?
@NewLayer
@NewLayer 7 месяцев назад
These are continuous light rather than flashes, so none 😀
@MiguelSanchez-pu2hm
@MiguelSanchez-pu2hm 5 месяцев назад
is this light continuous or can it act as a flash as well?
@NewLayer
@NewLayer 5 месяцев назад
Just continuous. There are a few LED lights on the market that do both, like the Godox FV series, or some from Rotolight, but they are nowhere near as bright as even a cheap, dedicated flash, so you are pretty much forced into having both for the most part.
