Thank you @astroworfcraig9164, I’m sure next episode will exceed all expectations for openness 😅 I’m glad you’re enjoying our conversations! 😎👍 -Alex (GV)
3:30 in to your introduction and I’m already in tears. I think a lot of us viewers of reactions do know that so many stories are hard on the reactors, often enough to the point of triggering stuff. I don’t go in looking/hoping for people to be traumatised, or reminded of trauma, but I notice it happens sometimes with all sorts of reactors, even when the person is very very quiet. It is a privilege to be able to watch reactors be so vulnerable on camera. In the way that Heartstopper is revolutionary representation and modeling of healthy communication for young people, I think the many men on RU-vid who come on and be emotionally vulnerable, and talk through and about their emotions, like you gentlemen do, is a very much needed representation and modeling of healthy masculinity. It breaks my heart when men and boys talk about not being allowed to have or show emotions. Especially sadness.
@@ariadnepyanfar1048 There’s really so much that can be said here, and a larger discussion about mens mental health is probably needed. However I just wanted to say thank you. These episodes get exhausting for the both of us at times, for different reasons, as I’m sure you can tell, but if we’re going to “react” to something like this, it would be a disservice to not have some meaningful dialogue. -Carl
Powerful television drama at its best. Season 3 really has just shown us the brilliant acting skills of the actors, the perfect writing from Alice and great production and direction. This drama does so much in just 8 half hour episodes per season, than other dramas have done with 26 one hour episodes per season.
Very true… I feel like many other dramas would have dragged out the story for the sake of drama… Heartstopper feels like it moves forward very deliberately, without feeling rushed 😎👍 -GV (Alex)
This episode hurt a lot because I have known a lot of people who have had mental health issues and EDs. When nick said because he will barely talk to me about it. I started crying because I have been nick.
Thank you @sylviemilner!!! As someone who has dealt with some of those issues personally, I’m sorry that you’ve felt the pain that Nick is going through. For me, watching these episodes, I’m more emotionally moved when Nick is in pain. It makes me feel sad for all the people I must have made feel this way. Thank you for your comment 🫂😎👍 -GV (Alex)
I'm always interested in your reactions to this show. I've watched the reactions of younger fans (God bless them) who often scream or squeal over every little thing that happens and ends up being more annoying than enjoyable. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to your Season 2 reactions also. I may be wrong but I think when Darcy gave Elle the skirt she says she hasn't worn a skirt outside of school for years.
Thank you @bengilbert7655!!! I don’t think Carl is the squealing type 😅 But seriously, we’re so happy to have found viewers like you, that enjoy our friendship and the way we love to banter 😅 Thanks for the clarification on Darcy’s skirt. I’m guessing she felt forced to wear it because of her mother and it being a part of the school uniform. -GV (Alex)
This was a truly beautiful video. I love the love you both have for each other and the way you talk about vulnerable topics with such care. Thank you from a younger viewer who takes great inspiration in the way you both communicate 🫶
Thank you @izzyjohn9483!!! Carl & I greatly appreciate that we can share our friendship and our views as Veterans with you and everyone that has watched so far. Comments like yours help remind us why we started this RU-vid Channel 🫂😎👍 -GV (Alex)
Yes. In Alice's book 4, she gives dates of some events. The day at the beach (and the shower scene) occurred on August 11. Nick and family left the next day (August 12) to go on the 3 WEEK holiday. 12+21 = 33. That puts the return date as September 2. The school year begins at the beginning of September (Sometimes September 1). So that puts them starting the new school year as soon as they return from the holiday. Nick's birthday is September 4.
Thank you @ThatsMyUsborneBook!!! I figured it had to be something like this for them not have seen each other before the first day of school 😎👍 -GV (Alex)
40:35 I love that you recognise the hard work your friend who has the mental health issue has had to do. Because the work is often invisible that Charlie has to do, I feel like a lot of viewers of this show see the work that Nick is putting in to support Charlie as being a bigger task.
[I’ll make sure to highlight this comment to Carl.] I may have done “the work”, but throughout the Adult Part of our friendship, he’s always been there for me whenever I needed someone. For that I will always be grateful and he knows that I will drop everything to come to his assistance. 🫂😎👍 -GV (Alex)
16:50 when you guys were talking about Darcy’s clothes, I 100% agree! However, that got me thinking about the reverse. I seriously doubt that if a boy at the boys school decided they wanted to wear the girls skirts they would ever be allowed. Elle is a good example. The show talks about she got in trouble for her hair length, but never mentioned anything about her clothes being an issue. I’m for equality, but it should go both ways. Anyway, just something I thought about.
I wonder if the fact that these students have School Uniforms has anything to do Elle not getting bothered about her clothes while she was still at Truham 🤔 -GV (Alex)
This episode (warning...and the next!) are so hard to watch, especially if you have any experience of eating disorders or serious mental health issues. But so, SO important! I honestly think this series will change, indeed save, lives. It teaches such import things in a gentle, unjudgemental way. Thank you for sharing your experiences. They matter. It's so important for anyone going through this stuff to know 1, they're not alone, 2, you can get better. Xx
Thank you Jacquie2004!!! As someone who has dealt with both those things in my past, I completely agree with you. I get into more detail about this in our next react episode 🫂 -GV (Alex)
@@GVSV-Media been there, done that, both myself and, because these things are often hereditary, as a mum. Love your open, honest evaluation of what's happening, and I hope with my whole heart that life is good for you now x
Thank you @raygoodspeed2382!!! Being made to feel anxious about anything, is not how I want people in a relationship with me to feel. But sometimes I need to talk and want to be heard, and I know if I don’t ask for time to be set aside to have someone’s undivided attention. I might never find the right time to just talk about it, because they will always find something else to fill their attention. This is not a valid excuse, just me thinking out loud about my wants and needs for why I’ve done this to people in the past. -GV (Alex)
Thank you @ThatsMyUsborneBook!!! You hit the nail on the head with this comment. 😅 I’ve known Carl for 30 years and I’ve seen him in so many different environments. I knew he was holding back in our earlier episodes, but you can tell that after a few weeks of filming and watching Heartstopper together, he’s mellowed out a lot and is now able to be the amazing person that I know him to be. I’m just so glad that everyone gets to see my friend the way that I get to see him. Not the broody emotionally distant person he can be around strangers. 😅😎👍 -GV (Alex)
Thank you @thevoidbender!!! I’m guilty of doing this, but I don’t want people to feel anxious. I just want to set aside time. Because if I try to have a serious conversation at a moments notice, I know we’ll somehow get interrupted by life. -GV (Alex)
When the show film began being filmed (season 1), He identified as non-binary and used exclusively they/them pronouns. In 2023, he came out as transmasculine and queer, and uses both he/him and they/them pronouns.
Thank you @ThatsMyUsborneBook, @lararodrigues1360, @slm_766!!! I don’t mean any disrespect to Kizzy, I just didn’t have the most up to date information. I’m glad that they are happy, healthy and able to represent a part of the community that does not get much mainstream attention. 😎👍 -GV (Alex)
