Charlie's dad's face in the final scene just breaks me. We know he loves and cares for Charlie so much, even though he sometimes takes a back seat to his wife when he shouldn't. And seeing the pure devastation and heartbreak on his face kills me. And knowing what comes in the next episode, seeing Tao so worried and concerned here gets me in my feels too.
@@DSGodiva yes! That got me too. Both parents look heartbroken, but there's something about the dad's reaction that suggests he's absolutely gutted by Charlie's revelation. Just another example of the phenomenal acting in this series.
I cried through the first half of the season, and then squealed through the second half. This is such an important story line and so beautifully written & acted. Your tears are all of us. Rest assured, the pain is balanced with smiles in the end 🫶🏻 They all grow up so much this season.
Rules....watch what Charlie does to his sandwich. His rules might be that every piece of food must be divided into X number of pieces, he can only eat half or a quarter of those pieces, and none of them can touch his lips. Each piece must be chewed X number of times....eating disorders are generally about control. Rules establish that perception of having some control. I found him tearing that sandwich apart physically painful to watch.
If we get a season 4, which will be the last and align with volume 6 which Alice is currently writing, I would love to see that memories book make a reappearance. She has said at the end of volume 6 that she wants to include an epilogue. Wouldn’t it be amazing if part of the epilogue was that memory book, now completely filled with their memories of their life together. College, wedding, kids, etc. That would be the perfect end to Heartstopper in my opinion.
Sorry to break it to you, but episode 4 will require a lot of tissues again. Episode 4 is different, but the acting in these first 4 episodes is just outstanding.
