In this guide, we check out an unstoppable GW2 Reaper Open World Build designed to provide tons of damage to melt enemies in seconds, while still maintaining very good survivability and sustain in Guild Wars 2. Whether you're working solo on your account progression or doing group events and metas, this GW2 Reaper build will help you dominate your enemies with ease.
This GW2 Open World Build uses the cheapest possible gear to make it more beginner friendly, while still maintaining its high damage and sustain in. In the guide I show you exactly where and how to get each piece of gear from the cheapest and easiest sources. I’ll also explain how the build works in details and show you how to use it. At the end of the guild, I provide more options for extra sustain if needed.

For those who want to know benchmark numbers on the golems without adding any extra boons to myself or extra conditions to the golem, here are the results: On a WEAK golem: it did 15.8K

Thank you, been following you for a while now, enjoy your builds and they really do work and help. Cheers :) I prefer testing in the open world over the test golem... the golem doesn't hit back nor force you to move out of "stupid".

Hit that Like Button guys, well deserved!! Wow Johny you are a busy little uploader, yet another great Reaper build to try. I'm currently using a full Lifesteal Reaper build in OW and it's great for tougher fights but less damage as it obviously centers around sustain. This will be my 3rd build template 100% as I have been slowly replacing my Exotic Celestial gear with Ascended Berserkers gear (Zojja's), so far I have 3 pcs of Armor & 2 Trinkets so abit to go. Thankyou GTJ for the time you put into your videos as I know it's a labor of love & it's very muchly Appreciated by all. Lastly, I find it funny that your Char looks like an angel but than turns into the Reaper of Death 😂😅 Ty & Tc my friend. EDIT: I forgot to ask, What cursor settings are you using to get that Yellow crosshair that's fixed to the center of your screen??

Thank you so much for the kind words! I use "Action Camera" and there are visual options you can adjust for it from the "General Options" tab, then press on "Action Camera Reticle Settings", and from there you can choose the color and shape

Thank you Johny. I'm still using your build with Blood trait line, and happy to try this out too, but I'm doing lots of convergences, and there only seem to be big bosses in there. Is there something else I can use instead of grasp and rise, in this case? I can certainly use them in Open World content perfectly. Love your builds and theory crafting is sooo detailed and makes it so easy to use. Thanks again, Johny! 🥰

Glad to know the build is working well for you! For convergence I'd recommend the following: 1- For more DPS use "Well of Suffering" and "Well of Darkness" 2- For more Boon Strips use "Corrupt Boon" and "Nothing Can Save You" 3- For more sustain use more minions

I was thinking of You are all Weaklings because of the Might, but I see that Nothing Can Save You gives more chill. I took Spectral Grasp off of a build and I'm thinking it's time for me to put it back, esp for big content. It's not on the tooltip specifically but, per the wiki, Spectral Grasp does more than we might realize. It does 5 pulls on use and, if you are in the hitbox of a defiant mob, all five pulls can hit that boss. Each pull is 150 breakbar damage and it's possible for all 5 to hit a single target for very significant breakbar on your foe. Since there are always people who have already burned all their CC outside of the need moment or who have weak CC in their builds, being able to pop Spectral Grasp and Chilled to the Bone of Charge! on the Flesh Golem makes your reaper a major player against a boss' defiance bar. Each one also grants 15% Life Force so that adds up too as Johny mentioned in the video. It's also adding more Chill for your Reaper to exploit. So it's a very easy skill to love.

Gosh I love reaper builds! 🤩Thanks so much for this one, will try it out asap! I often find myself in underwater combat in PvE (for example when killing my 10 daily kraits as of lately), so could you please also advise on the best underwater utility skills to equip?

Exactly. Spite will give you more damage, but then you lose a lot of sustain

Sorry for the late reply. If you don't have SOTO, you can use Axe / Focus instead with the same stats and sigils

So I play reaper power greatsword. Do I need to turn off my auto targeting? (Not auto attack) Or should I keep it on? Seems like if I don't use it the rotation dies after whatever I'm killing does. It doesn't put the skill that's in action locked onto the next enemy. I had alot of people say i needed to get used to it off but it helps me clear pve trash mobs faster.

Auto Target in PvE is very useful. I suggest you leave it enabled exactly for the reason you mentioned

They're both equally good! The Double Swords Reaper build you're talking about provides a little more sustain and still very decent damage. But this most recent one provides overall more damage, and still overall enough sustain to handle most open world content.

What is your cursor add-on?

I don't use any addons. In the "General Options" tab, look for "Cursor Contrast" and it will chance the cursor's size and visibility. Right below it you'll also find "Action Camera Reticle Options" if you use action camera like I do and want to change its cursor settings
