This woman was something else. She believed in child abuse, committed adultery, believed in divorce when it fit her narrative (but God forbid you divorced), weight shamed others, wrecked families and drove so many to depression. This story is so interesting to hear, but at the same time it hurts me for Michael because he has all of those bad memories. I appreciate him sharing his story.

Yes, depression born from having wronged and been wronged. The interviewer is over joyed he is finally vindicated over the truth he discovered 20 years ago. NOBODY is innocent here, ESPECIALLY not Gwen.

That poor kid. You can look at Gwen and Joe and see alcoholism and drug abuse. It’s all over their personalities. “Church” people need to get some discernment.

Wow, that makes me wonder if the plane crash was a crash or was it a murder/suicide? The meandering flight track that it was on and then the sudden dive for the ground with witnesses saying it was near vertical at impact. Maybe it wasn’t spacial disorientation after all. Joe sounds like he was a conflicted person and maybe he felt trapped in a way that Michael felt trapped with no way out.

I know I've been really curious on the happenings since the crash and what happened with his sister. I haven't been able to find much information on it, maybe he will talk about it in upcoming interviews.

Not much good comes from infidelity, lots of unnecessary pain for lots of people. 😢 when he tells the sniper story… holy cow!! THAT would have really scared me!! Maybe I would have been the one trying to travel somewhere outta his reach!! I really appreciate his candor and his honesty.
Wow. Michael has revealed what was suspected all along. It is obvious that he is carrying a lot of pain, and who wouldn’t carry a great deal of pain from those experiences. I hope now that he has told the story, he can move on and even forgive. In forgiving, he would not be saying that they didn’t do anything wrong. He would be acknowledging that he isn’t their judge, and he would be free himself from the pain of the past. Have a great rest of your life Michael. Phil, you did a very good job and you were very sensitive to Michaels pain. I appreciate that.

Joe Lara has crazy eyes, and so I believe Micheal Shamblin. In the documentary I saw him threaten his ex wife with his crazy eyes. That’s why he wasn’t good looking to me. Even when he was young.
He inherited millions and left his family. Many others who have done right in life are far worse off. He needs to repent, find the true Church (Catholic) and offer recompense for those hurt by helping the poor with some of that money he inherited.
Yes, I agree a movie told from HIS perspective would be wonderful. I think it would give him a lot of relief and help set a lot of people free with the truth about what really happened behind closed doors. May Jesus bless Michael. I can understand if he wants to refer to his mom by her full name if their relationship was so damaged but does he also have a problem with his dad? I noticed he refers to his dad by his full name too. All of this is very odd.

It was extremely difficult because the cult hired a Remnant leader attorney who intentionally made my life difficult. I warned them all that Joe was unqualified to fly. I knew they were having an affair prior to the engagement. I knew they used drugs. Nobody did anything because Gwen's reputation was number one. I have so much to share in my upcoming book.
God will not let this man get away with all this slander. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I'd be on my face begging God 's mercy if I were you, Michael.
When I watched the HBO series and then Phil's excellent interviews I can't help but think of Kenneth Copeland and the cult he has amassed. He's is in his '80's and he's not taking those millions and the Jet aircraft with him to Hell.
As described, the statement about the sniper bullet sounds like a legally actionable drath threat. Pity it wasn't recorded, would be nice if it'd been that easy to debunk as a claim or bring the threat issuer to trial and convict.
I’m sorry Michael, for all the pain and distress. Weighdown got a little weird when it became a church. I think your music is awesome and you are a very talented lyricist, vocalist, and all-around musician. I got the same feeling about Joe like he was acting and trapped. But it is a mixed bag just like everything else in life, Weighdown has done a lot of people good, it helped me heal my relationship with food.
It seems very clear that Michael was enraged with jealously that when his mom fell in love with Joe, Michael lost his position in his mom's life. He wanted to be the apple of her eye. The only thing creepy about this is Michael's obvious jealously of Joe Lara.
You can tell the power she had in her cult, no real family or friends to say no, no stop that isn't a good thing or idea. Hence the hair, I wish the son would try and stay away from the look as well, I understand his mother has left him with so much mental health work things like hair doesn't matter but wonder if it does matter.
