Sorry, I prefer the stuff of when she was in No Doubt. The lyrics had soul, you could feel how she felt when she sang Don't Speak, A Simple Kind of Life (or whatever it's called), Spiderwebs. All those she wrote herself, this is just some Pop garbage she was told to speak when they were in the studio...if you listened to No Doubt back in the 90's and then heard this, you know what I'm talking about. Can't blame her, a lot of bands when they become famous fall into the same routine. Sing these lyrics we made so you can make our paychecks and you can be on the charts and get some nice coin as well.

She's done Alice in wonderland themed stuff many times ( Remember the 'What you waiting for' video). Maybe she just connects with it. Not everything is mind control and sinister. Perhaps people are just making music because they like to make music.
I don't understand why people are saying that "this isn't Gwen" if people really knew her music they would know that this is totally Gwen she went back to her "ska punk" vibe. Just like when she was with "no doubt" (remember the rock steady album). For those that don't know "ska punk" is a mixture of reggae and alternative rock and no doubt was the president of that genre. Her Love Angel Music Baby album was great and so was The Great Escape but those were more pop.( so she totally changed her sound on those two albums, which I loved btw) and now I see her getting back to her original sound but still keeping the pop influence in there too. If you listen you can here the reggae and pop sounds, blend perfectly. She took her "ska punk" sound and mixed it with her pop sound (which both are great) and came up with this. I love it she manages to create something new but still keeps her original sound in there. Huge Fan!!!!
I absolutely jammed to this song and this song only when it came out, it's so catchy and the video is psychedelic, and it was Gwen's comeback! She doesn't age at all. I truly adore her.

Loved the wizard of oz, and the old school retro references. Loved the ending, though it was lacking a bit of energy. But overall it is not her best video but its good, i loved it.
This takes me back to the 90's when popstars just walk around and look pretty, no direction, no message, no concept. Just a random video to accompany the song for the sole purpose of being shown on MTV. I don't feel the effort put into this, they might've worked hard for this but i dont feel it. We're in the era of big productions, either massive visuals like Gaga's G.U.Y., socially relevant commentary like Lily Allen's Hard Out Here, or kooky ones like Taylor Swift's Shake It Off or Nicki Minaj's Anaconda. This video just does not give anything.

What a coincidence she would sing this song in late 2014, when in 2015 she verified Gavin was screwing around on her with the Nanny, even though he initially lied about it until evidence was placed in front of him. Thus the divorce. The Queen probably seen other red flags, but screwing the Nanny was all she could take ! Like she said, he pushed her too far.
lyrically it's not strong, but the beat is sick and I think the video definitely fits her body of work. Black, white, platinum blonde hair, red lipstick, polka dots, stripes, houndstooth it's all there. First of all literally no one anywhere says lmfao anymore, second of all, I don't expect the entire pop genre to have, or even need, substantial lyrics to be enjoyable. However, Gwen's songs do tend to pack a little more punch, with details you can link to her personal life and some clever lines. Listen to the bulk of her first album or the majority of her No Doubt songs and you'll see that, and maybe in doing so you can get off your music elitist high horse

This video still speaks on the human condition and the ever-changing social culture. The clouding presence of social media and the digital world is wrapping, consuming and controlling much of our daily lives. It starts from a simple perspective then all the other distracting factors come into play. One can interpret that the 'Baby Don't Lie' comes from someone making themselves within the environment of digital social culture.
It looks super tumblr-ed and I liked it, it's fresh, it's current, it's different, it's Gwen. And no harajuku girls this time, she's taking new directions

Disposable pop to just adhere to current trends... it's not meant to be Gwen's life & soul put into her work.
I agree this isn't Gwen she's usually more energetic in her songs with popping lyrics and it's inspirational...now this song comes out and she's just walking In this animated world...it's depressing this is just sad...yeah she looks great for her 40's and still has a great style! But she needs to make a music video that's great like when she was in her early 30's

She should reintroduce this on her new album getting ready to be released this year. It would become an even bigger hit now. Totally underrated when initially released.
