Due to Malaysia tax structure, a SuV is taxed heavily compared to a pick up truck. Hence, as much as it’s not a true/equal comparison, based on price alone, a Ranger Raptor is a more worthy purchase. However, should the ckd price drop to rm200k, it gives many suv a run for its money!
It all depends on one purpose to buy either a raptor or a tank, I wouldn’t include Rogue because that’s for the lazy thinking. If one plan to use the vehicle for trail adventure, follow convoy to do community service for the remote villages (sending doctors and nurses with supplies) in sabah or Sarawak, raptor is gone from all the check lists. 1. From the architecture standpoint, the departure and break over angle is poorer, it has wilder and longer wheel base than most of the off road vehicles so it will suffer big time in malaysia semi jungle trails. 2. Raptor is engineered to deliver the type of performance for the Baja racing, not for jungle trails, raptor can not become a FJ cruiser or LC80 and shouldn’t be. Tank 300 is a wagon designed to tackle rock crawl, mud trails, overland and etc. there are plenty of after market off road accessories, suspension enhancements parts to facilitate one needs. It depends how you want to use the vehicle. A V6 Ranger Raptor owner.
Nak masuk hutan semua 4x4 kena upgrade. Keluar kilang tu basic je. Kebanyakan pasang steel bumper, snokle, uplift malah winch. Absober pun upgrade.Kdg2 sangkut juga dlm hutan atau kawasan berair. X perlu kita bezakan kemampuan setiap 4x4 yg keluar dari kilang. Sebagai salah seorang pengguna Ranger Raptor v6 ,saya enjoy pandunya. Luas pandangan sbb tinggi. Selesa ,juga yakin dgn perfomancenya. Bukan nk racing dn masuk hutan pun.
Cant deny it is a very amazing car for Offroading. But i saw some review of owners in China. They states the fuel consumption in city drive is around 5km per litre. 😅
As a new v6 Ranger raptor owner, I agreed on the price bang for the bucks compared tank to Ranger raptor, but raptor’s approach and departure angles, break over angle are poorer, suffer big time in small jungle trails, stuck easily due to the departure angle that many double cab experience with. Also raptor is 2.5~2.6 ton heavy, I wouldn’t say I enjoy my daily commute to work struggle in the start stop traffic. Just my two cents
Thanks, Alex, for your honest input. For sure the approach and departure angle would make quite a difference if you actually do go offroad; however I am surprised about the lag - tbh I did not take the Raptor offroad, so I didn't know. Perhaps I should - the diesel Ranger was okay.
Always curious abt buyer profile of raptor & equivalent, how many of them will drive in the hutan like this. Believe some will get it for the height, comfort n rugged look only. But Tank 300 so far never promote that.
Dude, you're talking as if the Tank300 is a new car. It is only for Malaysia and the rest of the world. In China they had been whacking this around since 2020.
