I sold my gx470 about a year ago and bought a bmw 435i. Now Im in the process of the selling the bmw to get another gx470 lol. This time Im keeping it.
One of the most tastefully done builds on a GX I’ve seen! I’m looking to do the same as yours but mine is Pearl White, so I’m going with the Bronze wheels.
Nice build. I have ‘03 with 337k miles and an ‘04 with 226k miles…only put on new rims/tires and took the running boards off. I want to do more to make it my own. Yours looks freakin’ SHARP dude.
Absolutely superb build, my man! I wired in my rear Baja designs pod with my reverse lights so it comes on whenever I shift into reverse which is great for backing up at night obviously; but I do plan on doing a separate chase light system for other applications. Also love how your maps are in Arabic 🤣
Nice with the dark gray interior. Just like mine! But I am not an off road guy so I just took it a small level above "soccer mom" status. You have done a fantastic job and quality without going over the top! I have the full 10" Phoenix Auto Tesla screen and HD backup camera and very happy with that. 3 years later and very few issues. Cheers and well done! I am not a poster but have a couple vids of my complete mod if interested. They are a bit older now as I have also upgraded the foglights and lo-hi to all LEDS.
The JW offroad for the rear tire carrier is also a great tip. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a used GX, but I want to modify it. I'm surprised how many quality mods are out there for a vehicle that is not super popular.
Awesome build man! I like your taste. I’ve got a stock 03 limited silver sequoia with 145k miles and I plan on building it like this. Going to pick up some Nomad convoy wheels and a prinsu rack.
So I actually read about those and evidently I’ve heard their tricky to get to/use. The cleanest set up is the LRA steel second 30gal fuel tank that ties in with your factory fill point but that’s like a $2k option. A cheaper route is the exterior molle side panels that go over the rear windows and attach to the roof rack for support which could carry 4 gal rotopax on each side of the GX.
Thanks! Definitely holding on to her. Actually just added the rear tire carrier which really finishes it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8TC9z1nUCOA.htmlsi=cHZcqZWafxZPsrhi
Thanks! Totally stock engine, transmission and exhaust, just modified everything around those 😂 Didn’t want to mess with the phenomenal reliability and honestly I like a quiet ride.
Thanks! First mod was definitely adding Apple CarPlay with the new Joying headunit, followed by blacking out the headlights and the roof rack. I’ve got videos on my channel for all these if you’re interested.
Great build! How did you run the light bar wires from the rack to the engine bay? I have pulled the windshield molding off but wiring doesn't seem to fit under this? Am I missing something?
Im wondering... You have a light bar, and you have two additional lights, SS3 & SS2. Which zones do those lights light up and what about the light bar? Im just a bit confused as to which lights Id need. I purchased an SAE SS3 for my fog lights, and would be getting side/ditch lights, but as everyone does it, it would be mounted on the hood. What would the other two yellow lights be for?
My roof rack mounted LED light bar and center bumper LED light bar are just to illuminate directly in front and splash off to the side a bit as well (combo spot and flood). The amber fogs are intended for either fog or snow.
Hello from NYC, hello sir I was wondering if you could share your issues with your navigation unit, stereo, apple car play sys or whatever you call it. I am thinking of adding one of This sys to my 2008 GX4 but looking at the market I am totally confused on which one of this system to purchase they range from 300 to 1200 USD. Since they all tend to have some sort of issue. If you had to redo your system which one in the market today would you buy or if you still will go with this unit you have in your system. Thanks again for your help n reply.
Thanks man! Bought it for $17k - clean CarFax, only southern-owned and my understanding is non-Nav, grey interiors without dash cracking are hard to find. If you find a clean one, they’re great bang for the buck!
Love the setup! Did you have to do a body mount chop for those tires? I'm currently on 265/70/17 with a 2.5" lift and wanna go bigger, but don't want to go big enough to do BMC.
@@theoutdoorgearhead Oh okay great! I have wheel spacers right now that I think I need to take out to make that work without a BMC. What about your spare, does it fit in the spare tire holder?
@@theoutdoorgearhead I just picked up a rust free beauty from the south west. It's the same color combo as yours. I want to do exactly what you did, if you don't mind (I figured that's why you filmed it). Do you have a complete parts list you could send me? I know it's cheating, but at least I'm not asking for instructions. I'll be doing everything myself. Thank You!
Ok one more question😂 did you have to do any type of body mount chop or do anything behind the wheel? Obviously you don’t get front wheel rub because of your bumper. Thanks man!
@@theoutdoorgearhead that’s sick dude. I’m 16 and just bought a gx470 in that same color. It looks wayyy better in this video than it did in the pictures online. Very excited to start working on it. My dads given me about 4k to do some upgrades so I’m thinking about lifting it and getting new wheels/tires. That front bumper looks sick too though but I’ll have to see how everything ends up costing.
I have a 2003 fore sale. It has 337k miles. Runs great. Just did full fluid changes on everything, new brakes, timing belt done 30k ago…new battery and some new hoses. Everything works just fine, except the parking brake.
