Funny how i see people talking shit about how cocky you think Vazquez was or whatever some of you think. He knows how to spar, and that was both boxers working with each other. Considering Vazquez had only been back in the gym for 2 weeks after a lenghty layoff he held his own against a good Benavidez. That was Sat before the Pacquiao vs Margarito fight which Benavidez fought on 5hat card. So he was in top shap3 fo4 this sparring. On Wed and on Fri after Vazquez sparred Amir Khan and did well, even to where Roach stopped the sparring early the 2nd time around because Vazquez was having his way with Khan. Again only after being in the gym for only 2 weeks after a lenghty layoff. Give him his props, or try and step in the ring with him if you think you're man enough.
@2locOUT I agree with you completely that sparring is about getting better and better, but again taking unnecessary shots doesn't make you better. Working on being slick, countering those punches on the inside, and the when he feels like boxing using his length would be a much better way to develop that. Don't get me wrong I love this kid's fight game, and I want to see him on top, but being a slick boxer/counter puncher is a full-time assignment. Thanks for the response!
I wish Benavidez took advantage of his range more, slipped more, and did some pull counters. He is a big 140 and has all the tools to dominate this sparring session, but who knows maybe he's working his inside game. Either way, I think he took way more shots than he needed to.
lol yea he definately was working on his inside game.. Benavidez already knows he can dominate any and everybody on the outside so like all great fighters is working on his weaknesses.. funny part is Vazquez was getting all cocky the whole time thinking he doing extra good anshit lol you can see it in his face around the middle of round 3.. Benavidez started putting some pressure on him when he seen dude was taking him lightly
