Ah it's a fantastic documentary. The first part is even better but I can't for the life of me find it on the hardrive and if I do I think it should be online for everyone to see.
The video tapes taken from 4.43 till 5.16 aren’t from Afghanistan. They’re from Egypt, from “saeed” [صعيد]to be specific which are the reef parts of Egypt. The stick dance is a tradition over there usually referred to as “raks baladi”. What proves my words are the clothes worn. The men here can be seen wearing galabiyas (the long dress like thing) with sort of turbans to prevent sun burns. The second proof are the the buildings seen in the background. The red bricks used are only available in Egypt which are is made from clay in river nile I believe . I know this because I’m an Egyptian myself from saeed.
@@angelmarie9308 yes we originate in what was India, our DNA is punjabi, pathan, Balochi, Brahui, Burusho, Kalash, Makrani, Pashtun and Sindhi from what is now Pakistan, and also from Afghanistan, but also we migrated and moved through the middle Eastern nations like Iraq, iran, Turkey, the oil wrestling you see here is from turkic tribes, stick dancing from Egypt roma travelled there too. As we are a people who travel our culture has many facets. We are also Muslim in countries outside of western Europe.
@@moiasiya8812 i know we all traveled through different countries but it began in India. Some of the first ones to settle stayed in the middle east such as Pakistan etc.

This documentary is quite old! It was made when a country called Yugoslavia still existed - before people who always got along well enough, started to hate each other and split the country into Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia... The living conditions for gypsies in East Europe have deteriorated since then...
The Soviet Union made Yugoslavia from those countries they only had peace because the Soviets wouldn’t tolerate anything like the civil wars that followed the breakup. These countries existed before WW1
They are good people and being human, I am happy to call them Indian if they feel if they have Indian roots. Bhagwan has created all equal and let every one live in peace digity and pride.
Hey folks, there are a history channel documentary available here on youtube, they try to explain all the journey, supposly from India, and how they where spread to almost everywhere around the world. I'm from Brazil, and everyone should know a bit of their history to fight against predjudice!!
I remember as a kid a group of Gypsies camping on some wastground in our town and I befriended the kids and I played with them and we got on great and I got on great with the adults my mum didn’t really mind as long as I was polite to them and hoke before dark but omg my grandma hated them and she slapped me on the back of legs for going near them warning me to stay well away from them broke my heart later saying g in tears to my new friends I’m sorry I’m not allowed to play with you or my grandma will hit me again so I gave my friends a hug and never seen them again 🥲
I had similar happen to me. I used to play with Darren and Eileen who were Roma neighbours in the U.K when I was about ten. Our other neighbours who were petty nightmares came and told my Mum that I was playing with the gypsies and they didn’t think I should be. My Mum to her credit said ‘So?’. I still wonder how Darren and Eileen are doing as we moved away a little after. If anyone knows roma siblings in Worcestershire called Darren and his older sister who I knew less well, Eileen I’d love to know how they are!
@george rix. It’s a shame that you still have to make a comment advising against animal cruelty. If people didn’t pay to watch, they will stop killing mothers to take the cubs, whilst giving them a life of misery for the entertainment of foolish people.
Hello respected journalist. I have few questions. Why do you have a wrong map of india ? This is not the official map . I am wondering what is the source of this incorrect map !!
Yeah and apparently the Romani are related to the warrior caste. They're thought to have been warriors traveling towards persia. Possibly the fought muslims or was gifted to the muslims as musicians and warriors. It doesn't make sense that they were discriminated against in their motherland India.
European Gypsies have a remarkable resemblance with Indians from certain Northern regions. We have a fairly large Gypsy population in India and they too mostly in the margins mostly in poverty.B
@@Studio-gs7ye I know brother❤️ that’s why I put your flag next to our (symbolized by the green, blue and the wheel, because there is no Roma flag emoji haha)
Interesting. I know Elvis' father was gypsy. So Hochstadt. I met Elvis in Arizona autumn 1967. We had very same colour of our complexion and, of course, hair.
How can gypsirs be out siders. When we didn’t have these cars houses etc. Our ancestors didn’t have them either. So how are they out siders? Meaning they just didn’t want to change the old ways. FairPlay to them.
If they are a foreign nomadic group from other countries who call them selves different due to being a different culture not of those they visit. Then how on earth are they to be anything other than outsiders. They may be outsiders until they have citizenship. What next:? Your money is our money. Your food is our food, your daughters are our daughters and your dislike is racist and yours?
@@MikeGreenwood51 very well said, they are always into themselves, a secretive tribe, people know little to nothing about them, they moved country to country but adopt only a few just to get them going, never explained themselves or accepted /fully adopted any culture of any nation they visited so folklore was inevitable! Settling down not completely in their nature so rest of the world should not be blamed for whatever happened completely!
Im Egyptian from Albania we call ourselves egyptian and we say we have origin from Egypt and that also we are different from Roma people we do not have language we speak albanian and we got roots from Egypt like 3000 years ago
@@arinaleyla1603 i know that roma people origin is from India,i have a lot roma friends and they say the same and they know we are not the same race but respect
India got ruled by Great Britain and the Portuguese brought their influences. Just by the way a lot of Indians talk it's not that much different than the English. That's how strong the influence same can be said for a lot of Carribean islands like Jamaica
I'm Afghan however my father I never met doesn't look like your typical Afghan I could have origins in India very possible. I only want to trace the last 500 yrs beyond that is silly. I do know my identity which is important
Everyone is human this is a good video where our differences in appearance comes from is the regions where we come from. These people most likely came from North India. I find Dravidians interesting they are from the South of India. But all are the same to me regarding the country
Researching the Roma people’s history, sounds a lot like a people that’s referred to in the Bible in Psalms 83 as being a “hidden people”. May TMH YHWH bless these people.
Yes they are not from India! They lived there for a time just like many other places they lived in so of course they have similarities with India but Indian they are not.
I have romani/gitano /espanol Great grandfather and grand mother, i feel deeply connected to yaweh and very "hidden" as you say 💕 God bless and thanks for your comment 🥰🌺

Fascinating video. "take their sheep for a walk before eating them" sounds so wrong on so many levels...lol I wonder how many Indian women admire their fellow sisters for having pale complexion, presumably from all the centuries of mixing with the Europeans.
Perhaps not mixing so much with the Europeans as with the more pale faced Afghans, Uzbecks, Tadjicks and Persians, on their slow traveling toward west.

alla Romani may have migrated from what is the modern Indian state of Rajasthan, migrating to the northwest (the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent) around ... 100
They werenin foreign land just assimilate to the local people,,,they refused ...go back to India where they are able to practice their culture and language,,
@@furlexilove5916 , yes, we do know now that the so-called gypsies originated from India. 18th century linguists noticed the similarities of their language with dialects from the Northwest of the Indian subcontinent. And genetic studies have confirmed this theory
@@furlexilove5916 Roma (Gypsies) originated in the Punjab region of northern India as a nomadic people and entered Europe between the eighth and tenth centuries C.E. They were called "Gypsies" because Europeans mistakenly believed they came from Egypt. This minority is made up of distinct groups called "tribes" or "nations."
This is historical the out of Africa theory may or may not be true I'm inspired by Charles Darwin who studied Evolution. I don't think the out of Africa theory is accurate. Pangaea is true all continents were close to one another and spread out. Something to learn
Just to remind you they are originally Indians and whole world knows about contribution of India in every field for e. g: IT, History, Spice, Film industry, etc. So just be aware that if you are saying anything to gypsies it means that you are directly saying to Indians
