Very well explained. Very good teacher and marvellous sound. He should work together with Martin Schmidt-Hahn and his perfect clarinet - sound for swing
/How does the neck of the guitar look so thin in your left hand? I cant get my thumb around at all, yet you seem to be able to completely swallow the guitar neck
You need a gypsy guitar with specific gypsy jazz strings to get the really authentic sound, but you can get a relative approximation with careful attention to muting with both hands. Also, use a very thick pick.
Kind of. Gypsy jazz guitars are designed in a way that specifically makes it sound that way. so you won’t be able to get that exact sound on a flat top steel string guitar. The closest thing I can recommend would be switching to the kind of strings that gypsy jazz players use, and the closest you’ll be able to find that for an acoustic guitar I would say is Silk and steel strings. In my opinion they make it sound a lot more authentic.
Hello. Can I ask for advise please? At 4min40sec Reinier gives an example and says "of course you will recognise this". Because of my lack of knowledge I am not sure. Could someone tell me for sure who he is referring too? Btw a great lesson I feel. Thank you 😊
