Did you know that Western Europe (and Spain) actually have some truly dangerous hoods? Inspired by the likes of Kurt Caz and Bald and Bankrupt, I went to a gypsy hood in Granada, Spain and interacted with the locals to find out how truly dangerous it was!

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 RU-vid videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

Lived in Spain for 3 years. 2 years in Sevilla and 1 year in Malaga. The Gypsy communities are a big problem in Spain. They are not helping to make the country better. I also lived in Colombia for 8 years where the most dangerous neighbourhoods looked a lot cleaner and the people were a lot friendlier.

Like the spontaneous vibe you capture in these video Elliot. I am a Brit living now for two years in rural Andalucía. I recall places in Sevilla and La Línea very much like this. We spent time in La Línea de la Concepción specifically to absorb the feel of the place. Careful not to provoke or stand out like a target for thieves we found them mainly either neutral or relatively friendly. Very obvious that we were in a potentially dangerous environment & vulnerable but I’ve been in far worse places in the UK & USA. The Spanish (not to stereotype) do respect respect. Give it and often you’ll get it back. Subscribed.

@@AdventureElliot I studied Spanish at La Universidad de Oviedo and La Universidad de Sevilla many years ago through the Univ. of Central Florida in Orlando, and we took many excursions on weekends. We were warned about the gypsies in Granada, Sevilla and a few other areas, and a few of us were surrounded by gypsies a few times trying to get money. I suppose these incidents still happen in several parts of Spain.

I’m from the U.K. Elliott, and I’ve travelled to Spain many times on holidays, years ago, including, the Canary Islands and beautiful Malaga in Andalucia. But it’s interesting to see disfranchised communities living in Spain, and how they cope with everyday life. Also, in parts of the U.K., in impoverish areas, we have Gypsy communities living here, but not so much like they use to, living in caravans, ferrying themselves around by horse and cart. Mainly because local communities complain about them to the police and the council, to have them moved on from where there caravan sites are located. And Tyson Fury, the world famous boxer came from a Gypsy community, and to this day, even though he no longer lives in a caravan, he still honours his gypsy heritage.

Well, you can go to Paris, and visit the Champs Elysées, or you can go to a banlieue in Paris to see the areas of immigrants in substandard housing, or you can go to New York, on 5th Avenue or in Stuyvesant, in Brooklyn. Elliot decides through the banlieues of Paris or Brooklyn. I don't understand your videos looking for marginal areas, it seems that you want to give a third world image of Spain, looking for the most depressed areas.

99% of all RU-vid videos about Spain, especially Andalusia, are complete cliché. I've travelled all over Spain in the last 42 years and have my own little place in the Axarquia in Malaga. There is some seriously wretched poverty in parts of the country and Andalusia is the poorest region of the lot. For every dozy arsed video about flamenco and tapas in Seville you could have a video of people going through rubbish bins for food. The working class barrios in places like Granada, Almeria, etc, are no joke and you have to be pretty careful. I'm a tall, rugby sized, Welshman so I sometimes get sized up but left alone. It's total macho bullshit. I've been to parts of Italy where it's the same. The majority of foreigners that travel to Spain have no idea about the real country.
@AdventureElliot

Thanks for understanding.. I’m not trying to sound entitled, but this video should have hundreds of thousands of views because like you said, it’s reality. People have to live from chatarra or drug trafficking here.. on top of that I literally risk my life making these types of videos. But the typical tourist doesn’t give a f about anything except the cliche stuff like you said. I’m better off filming videos about Brits getting drunk in benidorm to get views.. oh well.

Interesting video. However, you mentioned in the finale of your video that gypsies don't have neighborhoods in Canada or the United States. I'm from New York City and in the Boros of Queens and especially in parts of Brooklyn, there are gypsies. Many of them also have Palm Reading stores all throughout Manhattan. Although New York City is predominately Irish, Italian, Jewish, Greek Puerto Rican, Dominican, Chinese, and African American... These are only the primary ethnicities. Every other race and ethnicity in the world is in New York City. There are also many Spaniards, but not Gitano Spaniards. I have not met a Spanish Gypsy/Gitano. Almost all of the gypsies that I have met or seen in New York City are Romanian. Interesting video though...
