I used to love to go to Escapades. It was one of the few places that didn't just play Florida Breaks (unlike Kenny's Key West). They would venture into progressive house, progressive breaks, trance, and some of the best music out there. Would listen to G-Brown, Dirty Boy Mike (you're missed brother), and countless other DJ's. Sometimes, I would go to a rave at The State Palace Theater, only to leave dissapointed and go straight to Escaped where the music would be banging to the teeth. I have the vinyl for Gyrate. It was the only release he did for Fragant Records but both tracks were incredible. This was progressive breaks before it even had a title. Gyrate was so ahead of his time. The musical composition of this track is sublime. This was made before Ableton and most DAW's. If you ever get a chance, listen to Doran - Fragrant Sense, a DJ compilation with pinnacle mixing. Had a lot of music that Escapades would play. Still remember when G-Brown would drop Sanda Collins - Ode To Our. The bass would shatter the building.
Heather Dominick I drove by escapades a few years ago just to look for myself, it's hard to believe it was bulldozed and now is a parking lot of all things, go figure
A Sunday morning at 7:00 am, at Escapedes, that was a weekend to remember. I would go to countless raves. However, not going to lie, going to Escapades and listening to G-Brown, Dirty Boy Mike, or DJ Dynomite... it was the best place.
Escapades is not a parking lot now. It’s chronos wellness spa, along with all the other buildings in that parking lot. I just drove by it last month when I was in NOLA for the first time in years. I loved that place and I went for years. I could not wait to leave Metro or wherever at 1am and race to Escapades. G Brown, Dirty Boy Mike (RIP) and you too, Dynomite always brought the heat. We still talk about that place fondly.
