The Alden i feel is less dressy more casual while these Allen Edmonds Macneal's are more for a dressy look.

Wish AE still made the MacNeil. They don’t even have a wingtip derby anymore, other than the Dalton (boot). Crazy.

These styles come in and out. I’m sure they’ll return.

Great video! How did is the sizing on these? Do they run big or TTS?

A lot of people share that they run big. I’ve found that the shell pairs run big but I have a pair in suede that is tts.

Got the same exact pair. I don't see much rolls on yours. Do you have a deer bone to remove the said rolls? Would love to see a video if so. Keep up the great videos!

I do but I don’t have massive trouble with rolls that some complain of.

why is "shell" better than and more expensive then traditional calfskin?

It’s more expensive because you only get a small amount from a horse. From a cow you can get many pairs of shoes. You need multiple shells to make a shoe. It also takes much longer to process and tan. It’s not “better” but very different. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-onug30pjRm4.html

True. N S. The average cow produces 10+ pair of shoes and the average shell produces one in my size (11, not 16). Shell tans for 6-9 months and calf can be a few weeks on the high side. Hatch grain runs about the same price as shell because it takes so long to tan, and the super high end brands like G&G or EG only get 1-2 shoes from a cow hide. Hope that helps. Care of shell is much easier. Just condition and brush.
