H.E.R & Skip Marley come together for an amazing live performance at the 51st NAACP Image Awards Follow the NAACP Image Awards: www.naacpimageawards.net / naacpimageawards / naacpimageaward / naacpimageawards
They sound like him because they have listened to him and copied his style. They did not find their own voice and style in music. I’m not impressed with people who are not authentic.
Well I grew up around few of them so I wouldn't go has far as saying they not automatic I sound like my father but I never studied him but that dont take away from who I am I think it boils down to genetics and I agree with u a lot of ppl are not authentic
@@mayor834 Genetics would have alot to do with his actual voice. The sound of it. But I guess I'm thinking about his style and artistry as a whole. He wears his hair like Bob Marley. Who is he trying to be? Himself or a carbon copy of his late grandfather. He's not his own person. Artistry is an expression of the individual. These younger singers who call themselves artists need to seriously revisit what it means to be an artist. Bob Marley, Whitney Houston, Prince, James Brown and Michael Jackson were one of a kind. Every artist has to find that uniqueness within themselves. If I were looking for raw talent as a producer or manager that is what I would be seeking. The music industry needs a breath of fresh air.
@@Geneiveve on part of uniqueness yes I do agree but also remember the weight that comes behind the name marley so often time they could get lost in that but overall I think they do and try they best to build their own example damion marley don't do music compare to his dad but he sound like him look like him but he build his own uniqueness but I can agree
@@Geneiveve I have been studying cadence among family members for a while now. And they sound alike because of genetic couple with being around each other for a large part of their lives. While they might guilty of sticking to the same genre of music . They really cannot help the vibration that their voices all carry. My female cousin an I who grew up together and my mom and aunt, we all sound alike. There is a distinct cadence that our voices all carry and that was what pushed me to start studying speech pathology.
I won't stop saying it...H.E.R. is THE best young talent in music right now. She focuses on being a true artist. Both singing and playing. She is an artist. No skimpy outfits, very little emphasis on overdoing her songs with hip-hop remixes because it's "popular". And she carries herself with class. We don't hear about weed, or rapper boyfriends, or anything ridiculous with her. Prince would have loved her for her approach to artistry.
I watched a video of her when she was a little girl, playing the piano & singing. Amazing! Her parents are pretty amazing too, just normal hardworking people loving & supporting their talented daughter.
Can we all just love the fact she played a handful of instruments in this performance!! True talent !! Skip said he was so impressed with her and that she can play literally everything in the studio lol She’s amazing so is he.
It just goes to show as a female artist you don't have to be all raunchy or naked to sell or show true talent. H.e.r. is sexy and her voice is amazing and she is multi talent playing instruments and writing . And skip is so slept on he is definitely a replication of his bob marley so talented and good vibe both artists are classy..you know you all that when Jamie and Jill Scott making cow eyes at each other and lizzo looking and screaming lol. Much love
@@StarDust_2077that’s true, I think the point they’re trying to make is that women shouldn’t feel like that’s what they HAVE to be. Women should be allowed to be whatever kind of artist they desire. It’s just in today’s climate a lot of female artists feel like they HAVE to present themselves a certain way in order to make it in the industry.
I am saying that woman are perfectly capable of determining what they have to do or want to do without anyone else’s permission. You don’t have to put others down to uplift someone. It’s perfectly fine to just give a compliment.
Almost as good as this performance was seeing all the audience members swoon and be smitten by HER and Skip's artistry and channeling Bob Marley. It was nothing but love and joy. Beautiful. Good, timeless music just permeates the soul and connects us all. Doesn't hurt that both of them are also snackalicious! Ha!
Can we bathe in Skip Marley & H.E.R and tell me you wasn’t transported wonderfully magical Reggae & RnB ❤️🙌🏽🙌🏽 we need more of what connects us as Black People #Fact 💯
No offense, but music connects everybody, it's a universal language, and that's what is so beautiful about it! Please don't lose sight of that. Being also that Bob Marley himself was mixed and rejected by his own people and people on every side, yet he still chose to be a bridge with his music, and the beauty in his music lives on timelessly across the world.
@@-M0LE Generalized statements about people and how they feel and how they are based on their skin colors is a bigoted view no matter what skin color its based on. Evil comes in every race, and so does goodness. I'm not sure what white people you're referring to that feel blacks are nothing, but I can assure you there are a 1,000 times more whites who absolutely don't judge others based on their skin color.
Okay, it's the matching blue jean ettire, the matching middle finger rings and the Beautiful musical chemistry they both have oh, oh and how they have everyone mesmerized smiling. It's the Bob and Rita vibe for me.
Yes , they 0:04 both of are amazing and they have strong chemistry together, I pray they make more music like that together real soon. Simply Beautiful
H.E.R is just amazing.. and that Marley voice just keeps passing down generation to generation! This reminds me of the performance with Lauren Hill and Ziggy Marley when they did Redemption Song... so sweet
Watching these celebs. moving and grooving in love and harmony reminds we of a song by Bob, " one good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain, so hit me with music"
Such a classic hit. The two singers, artists vibe together so well. Skip is like a young Bob Marley, and H.E.R. is like a young Lauryn Hill. This performance takes me back twenty five years.😍😍♥️🤩
