I was working at a warehouse a few miles away from 63rd and Wallace when I read a small article in the Trib, sometime in the early/mid 90s about this place. Then I found out it was only half the story. I don't think it was discovered until the trial for all his other reprehensible crimes, which apparently was bigger than OJ. When they did discover the building, they found a large crematorium in the basement and a chute that ran down there from an upper floor, like a giant slide that he would drop bodies down, so he wouldn't transport them halfway across the city to dispose of them. 63rd St. is far south side, Fullerton is 2400 north, around 11 miles through the city to transport a cadaver. (fun fact, my high school was on Fullerton, twice I've lived within a stone's throw of it and for the last dozen years I lived a little over a block south of Fullerton) But about 15-20 years ago I was watching a program on WTTW about the 'Murder Castle' and the post office that was partially built on its foundation, and although I don't typically believe ghost stories, the employees were talking about some pretty freaky shit going on down in that basement. Still, I don't think I'd be as scared to go down there as I would be about fucking around in Englewood.

This case and Lizzie actually have a connection. I am still trying to binge watch all of your videos. They fascinate me, educate me and horrify me at the same time.. You did a Lizzie Borden video from my birth city of Fall River, Ma. , another excellent video, so we can actually connect that video to this one in a macabre way. Lizzie Borden was found innocent in the summer of 1893 and spent a few weeks in Newport, RI. She wanted to go to the Chicago World's Fair so badly, some of her friends urged her to go before the fair closed so she was actually in Chicago at the World's Fair in the Fall of 1893 while H.H. Holmes was committing his horrendous murders. Two very famous murderers in the same city at the same time. Imagine that get together if they had met for tea? :-)

He didn't claim to be a glass blower, he said his business was meant for bending the glass panes for the new buildings being built in Chicago in the late 1880s/early1890s, when the Chicago World's Fair was under construction and the city was being rebuilt after the big fire.

I'm always impressed with your storytelling abilities and your willingness to go onsite to show where things happened. Given your gift of storytelling, have you considered branching out to other things that qualify as Grimmlife? You live in California now, and that state is known for its gold rush and its native battles. Would you consider going out to the locations few people ever go to, to film the area and tell your viewers about what happened there? Lots of people lost their lives, and as you mentioned in this video, it's important to remember history good or bad. I think these places and the people who lost their lives there are worthy of remembrance. Regardless, you do a fantastic job. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the tour. Holmes was worse than anyone could imagine, as well as his greed for money. He married women for their money then killed them. One had a young daughter and when he killed her mother, he also killed the child and sold their skeletons to medical school, as he had done with other people he killed. I had read the non-fiction book "Devil in White City" by Erik Larsen that some of your commentors mention. The book details H.H. Holmes' crimes, but also describes some Chicago history, the challenges of building the 1892-1893 World's Fair (The White City) with first Ferris Wheel, the main architect of White City's fair, and the detective who hunted down Holmes. Fascinating and informative book - I recommend it.

Dear sir, I am always a big fan of the channel and the way you approach these topics with your lovely girlfriend. And again this video is one for the books, only it would have been more successful, if you knew where to look and knew who to contact for a good reference guide. Since I have been busy with H. H. Holmes and the full story and everything since I think 2015, I found a lot of things that could have helped you with this visit. First, there is one man that knows everything about H. H. Holmes and the castle and the dumping site, etc. and his name is Adam Selzer. He is a tour guide, author and local historian on Chicago and in particular H. H. Holmes and even an actor I understood. He has a site called “Mysterious Chicago” and also did tours back in 2016 with that name. He stopped doing them, but he has a lot of great videos on the topics of Holmes. Including an excavation of the body dump of H.H. Holmes, where they were digging at the spot where the glass factory stood. Also, I saw video where he talks about the tours he gave in the evening and what spooky things happened there during those tours. Apparitions of a woman and flickering lights that started when he was talking about Holmes and a scary chair that moved on its own and an old looking tree. Next to iron building (whatever that is for), where now the houses stand, there was the factory where Holmes brought the bodies. I saw some cool videos of the basement of the post office, where Adam was. He was walking down there and going through the part under the post office and the part where the official Murder Castle stood and did overlap with the original blueprint. He saw some old bricks from 1888 with fire damage. In one particular video, you hear the voice of a little girl. He has a RU-vid channel named Adam Selzer and there you find them! Unfortunately, I can’t give you any link here, due to the fact that Google deletes posts very quickly then. This is the second time I write my message now, since my first was very quickly deleted (to my great anger). I didn’t give any links then either, but nonetheless for some reason my post was automatically removed. If you search for Mysterious Chicago, Adam Selzer, H.H. Holmes body dump or H. H. Holmes Murder Castle Site basement Footage, you will find all you need. There is a very great documentary that links H.H. Holmes to the murderer Jack the Ripper in London. The name of the doc is called American Ripper 2017. You see Adam Selzer in this doc also, and he tells a lot of details and little facts only he knew. In this documentary you see the great great grand son of Holmes (real name Mudgett) named Jeff Mudgett going on an investigation with a former CIA agent called Amaryllis Fox. They find out all sorts of connections between Holmes and Jack the Ripper and new facts about Holmes. I hope I gave you enough information, so you can find out the interesting videos and information on the places you visited! Good luck!

Very well produced and done. Appreciate the work you guys put into this. I've always wanted to know what stands in the place of mudget's old, "murder" house/Castle. Comparing and contrasting the original with present day really made this video awesome. There's not much on the actual real site as far as information goes which is why this one was awesome. Thanks again.

I like how you say legend of HH Holmes. Because most of the story we hear isn't completely true. There is an expert on Holmes. He does tours and written books about him. His tour company is Mysterious Chicago

H. H. Holmes always seems to get my interest. It amazes me how he was able to kill so many people and got away with a lot of it. Plus, some seem to think that he was Jack The Ripper.
@drt6680
@drt6680 2 года назад
If one was to really look into H.H Holmes and The Ripper its not so hard to believe. Holmes sold skeletons to colleges and may have been a Ripper suspect or fit The Ripper description sketch while there under a false name selling his victims skeletons

I'd heard that one thing pointing to Holmes *possibly* (key word, there) being Jack is, the Ripper murders happened when Holmes was in England. When he came back, they stopped.

I have family members that live on a property where in the 1890s a medium lived until she was REDRUM. I won't go back. It is a horrible place. The spirits are attracted to the site. Once you come onto the property a part of you never leaves. The place gathers negativity and tries to make you slowly go insane. It is cursed. Strange phenomena happens. People that don't know each other have similar experiences. Many don't return and leave during the night when they stay for the night. The place attracts chaos. It collects bad energy that energy becomes part of the haunting. People have seen dealt heard spectors. The place is insane and it will possess you and it is almost if you stay to long your energy and the darkness make it almost impossible to leave. I left and haven't been back in a decade. I don't even want it as a inherence. The property feeds off of your aura.
