try looking at things from other ppl's perspective. he was a person, who from what the movies i've seen (i know hollywood exaggerates but, there is truth to it even if it is a shred) he was mistreated mentally probably emotionally/physically because he seemed a little different or "slow" mentally & you add in the delusions that religion can install into ppl + the time period (even though there r still plenty of situations that happen like his but don't always end up the same), situations like these r ticking time bombs. he seemed nice & helpful because i'm sure besides these acts he was a nice & helpful person, but you don't know what he was going through internally, alone. he had a curiosity about women & wasn't properly taught how to interact & told "lies" (which thb were they really lies? she probably wasn't a very nice person herself & we don't know how his family actually treated him, but sometimes it takes a not so nice person to get actual truth out as damaging as it might b) when the right combinations collect in an environment it can really damage some ppl. there r a lot of cases where families turn on certain members in families & torment in some way/s to achieve something, whatever that something might b i'm guessing reasoning varies. i don't necessarily condone or defend the things he did but i feel bad for him with the way that ppl treated him, he's not the only reason why he was the way he was. every1 is always telling every1 else to take accountability while not accepting that his actions could have been caused BECAUSE of his environment which would b partially other ppl's responsibility unless they left him to b truly alone, but in cases like this it's always ppl who want control over something or some1's life/perspective etc. some ppl aren't as able to control themselves, you never know who or when that's why you aren't supposed to provoke. you never know who exactly is doing the provoking tho, unless you r.

I found an aerial photo of the Gein property from April 29, 1957. Southwest corner of the intersection of Archer Ave & 2nd Ave just like you said. In the aerial you can see the house near the intersection and the barn about 50 yards south of the house, and they both faced 2nd Ave. The house sat exactly where Baby Ghoul walked onto the property to the right side of the gate, and sat maybe 15 yards off the road. She first stopped and stood looking south about where the porch on the south (or left) side of the house was. So yes, you both stood on the ground where the house was. That driveway circled past the left side of the house and went south, down to the barn.

His other neighbors he would eat and hang out with, bring "fresh venison" even though he never shot a deer in his life. One of the neighbor's daughter found shrunken heads in his farm but he explained it as a relic from the Phillipines that his cousin got during the WW2. They were human masks. There was a lot of disappearances that no one knew about around that time, both at that town and around it. Apparently two male deer hunters vanished near his house too.

Nice! Some have said that his scene at the end of the film is superfluous and only exists because the studio forced Hitchcock to make extra sure that audiences understood the story. And in a way, I agree with that. But I also happen to enjoy that scene because of your great uncle's performance. Not only did he have a pleasant voice to listen to, but the way he delivered his speech of exposition made him sound fairly modern for the time. The film was shot at a time when depression was still being treated with electric shocks, so to have someone actually consider the psychological problems of the antagonist was very mature, I think. I haven't read the book or the script, so I'm not sure who wrote your great uncle's lines, but he delivered them convincingly nevertheless.

His Mother Augusta loved this farm. She and her husband and two sons left their former farm in Camp Douglas to move to more rural area...Mrs Gein was a devout Lutheran and wanted a proper environment to raise a family.

I am watching this video while doing housecleaning, & I've had to stop several times to simply comprehend some of the crazy things Ed did😳🤯 Thanks to you and baby ghoul for covering these historic cases. It's important to learn about the terrible things of the past, so we can better appreciate when beautiful things happen today.

I watch them when I have an hour to spare here and there, the first one that I saw was the day the music died, I’ve probably seen 5 now keep them coming. I don’t think it’s morbid. I find them insightful great presentation and very informative 👍🏻

Me and my wife just visited Ed’s property today for the first time. It was pretty creepy to say the least and to top it all off there was a rotting deer carcass laying about 12 to 15 feet to the left side of the gate outside of the fence. It smelled horrific! Guess it just added to the realism of the place and what happened there years ago.

"I'm a little hesitant about reading this, because honestly is a little bit too much, it's making me a little queasy. But history is history, and you need to remember these things" Never a truer word spoken. I love your videos, guys :) Only just discovered and subscribed to your channel, and I'm working through your vids slowly... but I love your style, and the way you present the things that need to be presented and I love how when there's a subject that can disturb or upset, you always make a point of being kind and respectful toward the subject and to your viewers. You're insightful, intelligent, respectful, and most of all you both seem like genuinely interested and interesting people. Keep it up, guys :)

I was born in WI, and now, 57 yrs later, have come back here. We're outside of Madison. My husband and I went through Plainfield, and decided to stop at the cemetery where Gein's family is buried. It was no big deal lol. Stuff like this happens sometimes in this messed up world. Also, my husband's father was a Postman in Madison after Gein was put into Mendota State Hospital there. He delivered there and to the ward where Gein was held, and often saw him when he delivered. True Story!

I'm about your age. My mother's family lived there and my dad did some photography at the crime scene. He passed away before I leaned of that and the family did not keep any of that. 😮 The Gein story never came up in my years growing up in WI. Beer, brats, and Packers!
