falinks should tilt with the terrain so this doesn't happen. honestly, each soldier should be its own entity so they can all move invidivually, but i doubt gamefreak has the time to do that :(
@@unf3z4nt i have a coding experience too. i have done enough fumbles in my classes to know that when a code starts working, you dont stop there. you enhance it to the best of your ability. it is not hard to code the height of each unit of falinks as a function of terrain height and all being constrained to remain within a certain vicinity of each other. processor does all the dirty work of actually computing and displaying the output, doing computations 10⁹ times every second. if this was some indie developer, i'd give them a pass and all criticism will be +ve. but no. gamefreak is no indie.

Why don’t all Pokémon just move at the same speed as the player, like in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Regardless of their actual speed stat, it would solve the pop-in issue with them
or you know they could move at different speeds based on their speed stat or something else similar to Let's GO. the quicker pokemon would even sometimes run ahead of you and that was actually one of the best parts of that game. its not that hard to at least set limits on how far behind they can fall without just... teleporting over to yoy
Probably because following pokemon was most likely a last minute addition to the game. All pokemon use their normal walking and running animations and speed they use as wild pokemon, in fact it's literally a wild pokemon chasing you.
this game is sad, for the first time in over a decade i dont feel like playing a pokemon game, i finished the game but basically forced myself to do it , after the crud story ending i just did not pick it back up i dont know if theres any end game content aside from DLC nor do i care they really dropped the ball on this game

Extra year or two? No way! Atleast 3-5 years MINIMUM. You dont make quality in a rush... the old pokemon games used to be released years from eachother and they're all arguably more enjoyable than when you pump out a game in only 1 or 2 years
@@afattaco7278 almost every pokemon game from gen 1-4 (not including the 3rd game made for every gen which took longer) were released 3 years from eachother, pokemon black and white (gen 5) was released 4 years after diamond and pearl (gen 4). Pokemon X&Y (Gen 6) was released 3 years after gen 5 but only one year after the sequals but i assume they had two different teams working on them since gen 6 actually did require the remaking of every model due to the transition to 3D and then sun and moon (gen 7) was released 3 years after gen 6 not including the remakes ultra sun and moon which were only released a single year after their original games which makes them more of a "oh heres rhe actual completed story we just wanted more money" but that sun and moon argument is for another time... anyway then sword and shield gets released a single year after ultra Again where was i wrong?

It’s Pokémon’s fault for rushing it, their idiots who don’t care if it’s good or not(the older games were so much better because since it was pixilated therefore easier to make, they were able to add more details to characters and the stories). That actually could've been one of the greatest ideas for GF, if they actually cared. You see, I'm absolutely for Meltan moving so painfully slow... but you really should be able to pick it up. It would give so much character to this little pokemon.
Just have it that certain Pokemon like snow that are too slow just teleport into their pokeball. Or if you want to put in effort, have 'am ride the bike in the basket or something.
I don't mind the National Dex being cut out. What pisses me off is the fact that they removed it only for the sake of "better quality animations". I can see how *H I G H Q U A L I T Y* these animations are.
they removed it AND made an overall shallow game. the most 'return on investment' for the loss of Nat dex is the variably higher quality textures and scenery. a game without a good game or interestung characters but just good scenery isn't much of a game at all. even then their open world design is uh... novice-like? for the most part
You've encountered a galarian wailord. In galar, wailord are known for their ability to grow and shrink to suit their mood however it comes at the price of having to teleport in order to traverse the land
In the let’s go games they actually tried to make the Pokémon their actual size, like onix for example because when you fight him the screen zooms out and looks upwards

exactly. criticism is good, feedback is good, it can improve what you love. just trashing on something for the sake of trashing on it is not what we are doing here. sad thing is... gamefreak blatantly admitted in the past that they dont really look at fan feedback. and lets be real, they still dont and never will, because this stuff sells. and im just as guilty of it - i bought the game and the expansion pass. i had such high hopes for it to be better than it was.... but next game or dlc pass i very likely wont buy. i just keep getting disappointed. theres so many here i want to love, but the execution just makes it impossible. i think the only thing i love here is the map (textures aside) and some of my favs returning - but those shouldnt have been gone in the first place and most of my favs will come in the crown tundra, or in an almost inevitable dlc 3/4, or simply never.... crown tundra better be hella good

I can't tell what's worse: that they actually *tried* to give their cash cow darling Charizard, only Charizard and *not any other Pokémon,* a separate "sprinting" animation so it can follow a running/biking player, or the fact that they *somehow screwed even that up* so it still ends up teleporting behind you like "nothing personnel, kid"
There is a scene in Pokèmon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, where you stop 2 grunts from capturing a Wailord, and they just take a Wailmer and call it a Wailord Mini. Out of Pokèball Wailord is pretty much just the actual Wailord Mini.
Can we talk about the “interaction” we get with the following pokémon, because that was one of the reasons everyone enjoyed it in heart gold because you could basically talk/interact with the pokémon following you. In the dlc all we have is a exclamation point coming from our pokémon and then all they do is a little attack animation

@@manuelredgrave8348 True, honestly I played ultra moon after sword and it felt leaps and bounds like a better game. While the actual story was mediocre at least some characters were decent. Lillies whole coming of age story I actually really liked. It also helps that I could put anything on my team, because the dex wasn't cut.

Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee were nostalgia-baiting, obvious cash-grabs, and STILL, they had more effort and more care put into them then Sword and Shield. Also, hard pill to swallow for some but still a pill that needs to be had, they're both more fun to play.
This makes Swsh even more pathetic since LGPE was critised for similar things like barebones content, story, characters and nostalgia pandering. It's crazy how LG was considered the worst Pokemon game by many , I mean like "nothing swsh could do, could possibly be worse than this" and yet, here we are. They clearly weren't meant for long time fans, they were meant to help pokemon go players get into the main series by mixing pokemon go mechanics with mechanics from the main series. i think the biggest problem was the advertisement. They weren't advertising it like it was meant for pokemon go players, it was more like they were trying to appeal to the biggest audience possible, and that sort of thing just left everyone confused and frustrated. Plus, the year before, they said lets go was going to be gen 8, which caused even more confusion Sword and shield on the other hand, yeah this is just unacceptable.
That would be really funny, since it looks rushed as hell, what with the teleportation and sliding Pokémon around. They had all that time to at least polish the feature and they created this? I'm not mad at how it looks rushed, I'm mad at how much money you're supposed to pay for this shit.
this game, with the dlc costs 90$. sun and moon costs 40$ with the money this game costs, you could buy 6-8 indie games with more gameplay value than this trashy waste of a pokemon generation

They didn't lie though because they never revealed that Pokemon following you would be in the game. Lazy? Yes because they just reused animations from Pokemon Camp, which is why some Pokemon are so damn slow. Lying? No because they never advertized Pokemon following you in the first place

fun fact: a simple math calculation can be included in the game that would make the pokemons able to move in base of their speed stat. this can also be added with basic divisions on the frame data so it doesn't affect the quality of the animations.
What I find truly apalling, is that not a single high-rank person in GF and TPC saw this crap and thought "this looks bad, we should fix it". No. They saw this, and they thought it was fine.

I know people shit on Let’s go because of its gameplay but you can’t deny they tried their hardest to make the Pokémon accurate, even if it was just the original 151 plus Meltan and Melmetal.

I heard one of them saying, “They brought back the National dex.” They only brought back 200. 200 =/= all (200 Pokémon aren’t all Pokémon.) Unless Gamefreak is making more DLC to add the rest of the missing mons.
And appropriately enough, they used that one bird sound (or whatever it is) that was also used in Ocarina of Time! (This is the same game with the infamous N64 trees, after all.)

Remember how on game boy color you got 2 entire regions for the price of 1 and now you have to pay 30 bucks for clippy half finished animations and a dlc map so small that it makes Kalos look like Unova. I like sword and shield but there probably the least polished main line game. The 3ds games had more polish and that system was more limited than the GameCube. I swear each Pokemon only has like 5 animations. LETS GO PIKACHU AND EEVEE HAD MORE POLISH AND THOSE WHERE FILLER GAMES!
kalos is one of those games thatt screams "it needs a remake" And it clearly does. they were only in X and Y AND that was it. Alola got its redo in the Ultra versions and Unova too. Sinnoh at least had Platinum. Not Kalos. it didn't even got a third version, a sequel version, Alola basically stole Zygarde from it however i am genuinely scared they try and fail horribly here in switch
@TY JACKSON oh don't give me that crap. If the crown tundra is going to be this big experience then why would they still charge full price for the isle of armor? And even then they still charged us for a post game that was free in other Pokemon games. That's the main point I'm trying to make. Want your Pokemon to follow you (which was free in the last game)? Give us 30 bucks! And even then it's been downgraded and you can only do it on the dlc map. Get my point? There just selling us things that should come with the game!
I remember when we thought sword and shield would be the ultimate game on the switch. Wild areas with Pokémon interacting with the environment as if they are actually realistic based on their personalities, flying, surfing, animations during battles, and being a good open world game in general
The thing that made me the saddest wasn’t any of this, but the fact that after your Pokémon walk with you for a while, they don’t give you a little present like they used to. I miss that, it made me feel special
I'd prefer it if it of course it had better animations, and a better storyline! Oh and back to the traditional grass encounters instead of the Pokémon running around. I'd love to see voice acting too.
Gamefreak should take notes from level 5. Yokai watch 4 (also on the switch, but japan only i think) has great overworld graphics that don't dip when you walk away from them and a follow mechanic that works smoothly.
I honestly can’t believe that a team of professional animators and game designers made this game, and are proud of the product. The stuff in this video is pretty inexcusable from a triple a game company, and I expect so much better. The stuff in this video is impossible to be proud of.
At the same time there's so much more to the game than just these but I guess people think there's actually that many little things in a game to actually make it to be a true problem.

Te problem is that gamefreak or TPC arent probably playing the animations enough to maje a quality game. For examine, yo make a good game you need ti pay your works 20 dollars a day, bit of you just pay them 10, they will obviously half ass it. Now imagine it being that you need 1000 dollars a day but you are only getting payed 500, your are obviously only going to work at half of your best and not as beat as possible. If you didnt understand, its not that they are getting payed alot, its that they arent getting payed for a quality, triple A game.

I’m starting to think what everyone has been saying about TPC being overly greedy and GameFreak cutting corners has been right all along, it’s just taken this long to finally see it for a lot of people because of how glaringly obvious it is this time around....... BUT EVEN THEN so many are blindly accepting it. They can do better, Pokémon deserves better. The Pokémon Company MUST do better.

Which is triple amounts of stupid. The new wild area doesn't use any different code from the one in the main game, so it could work there with no extra work required. But if it they included it in the main area that would a reason to give that to all players for free. And that doesn't make money.

The worst part about the Wailord shrinkage for battle is that it's sitting at the very front of a large "land" area that's WAY too big for it... like it was MEANT to be massive even in battle, yet some crappy algorithm shrunk it by accident and the devs were just "Meh, I can't be bothered to fix that".
