Thats not true. Lol. Most people dont care about quality at all. If that were true people wouldnt buy ahien. Yeah ik shien is cheap but i think it exposes that people are wearing to wear cheap bullshit without care for quality. 70 for a dress is cheaper.
Dresses without lining and coating more than $15 is INSANE. As someone has been sewing for years these companies need to be called out more for not finishing products and selling them at whole price
Over the years, H&M is a bit of a hit and miss. I had really good things that lasted for years. And then other times they broke after 3 washes. But the quality does seem to be getting worse! Especially for the price!
I agree! I have a navy A-line dress from 10 years ago that is so classy and indestructible, but I haven't seen anything of the same high quality/ design for years.
Well that perspective depends on how old you are. I've had certain pieces, like wool trousers, for nearly twenty years. I feel like quality has gone downhill for so many brands in the last decade (which is why I hold on to the same good clothes for so many years, haha).
That's just not accurate. I had great clothes from there in high-school. I even still own one of the jackets. It's literally 20 years old and in amazing condition especially for how much I wore it. My issue is H&M has no right to be charging what they are charging when their quality has gone down so much.
Wow, H&M got expensive for what they make, and it's still walmart quality. The point of going to H&M was it's affordable for lower wage workers (or it was affordable, $78 for that is insane.
This reminds me of shopping with my aunt when I was younger at Ross. She would always look at the details of clothing like loose threads, tears, etc and would take them to the counter point then out and ask for a discount. She’s 70% of the time get it discounted without being able to return and would fix them at home.
@@caromarie-coonchenYes that's what they meant : the group should let COS be their more expensive quality brand and H&M be their fast fashion brands, instead of selling H&M stuff at a higher price
I love ARKET quality. Still H&M but price vs. quality ratio is really nice. Amazing mostly natural fabrics, strong build quality and stitching. COS is a little bit “too much” when it comes to style for me. ARKET is exactly my thing with all the classic and basic stuff.
They used to have good styles, decent fabrics and relatively affordable in my country, now they looks like plastic and not worth the prices.. So sad to see that
I’ve stopped buying H&M after being a customer for over thirty years because the quality of the clothing has become so poor and the material actually FEELS toxic on my skin.
Omg I am laughing too dayjm hard right now 😂😂😂 why are they selling mid luxury prices for even worse than Shein quality of clothes. Thanks fot another great video and thanks for protecting our money from situations like these!
Honestly becoming a Seamstress myself was kinda both a blessing and a curse... 😅 I can argue myself out of expensive purchases but also can't look at pretty dresses the same anymore 😭😂
Lol I can relate. Also learnt to sew my own clothes and knit my own cardies. It's so interesting how I don't get tempted AT ALL when I am out shopping. Nowadays when I look at a dress, I'm immediately thinking what patterns I have in my stash that I could re-create it with. Then I just do it.
I have vintage H&M from the thrift and the quality was ok back in the day. Some stuff ive worn and washed for a decade without issue. What's going on out there!!!
@@elliet1754 haha i’m actually currently sewing a dress i bought from h&m that i ripped, but it’s still so much better quality than the dress i bought from there recently ☹️
@jungjaehyuns its so sad that the quality has gone down soooo much. Sadly, the companies that do have quality in their products are very expensive, like Aerborcombie. But I do give it to them that the finishes are done how they were 5 years ago in other companies.
H&M is LOSING their mind. They're marking up un-lined dresses made of kitchen rags that used to go for 3 euros on sale a few years ago that now are 11 euros ON LAST SALE. The prices are insanely high for cheap fabric and poorly executed stitching. Not to mention their really questionable designs. Seriously, what's going on with H&M?
The first dress with all the snagging is how I feel when shopping, I end up just buying a basic cotton tube dress at the end of the day because of so much weird crap out there. H&m has only ever been good for interview shirts and pants. But I hope the prices haven't gone up cuz that's ridiculous for the crap they sell
The prices are shocking to me these days .. I still grab some decent basics but refuse to spend more than $35 or $40 in this store now. Hardly anything is worth it anymore.
Buying off season is the best. That's how I get "organic cotton" and silks for the low. Buying quality cashmere in the summer or birkenstocks in winter is chef's kiss, especially if you have the Honey extension.
Hola, creo que esto hará que miremos al mercado de segunda mano con ganas y convicción, más allá del medio ambiente será por supervivencia. Es una buena salida. No sé ¿qué es Poshmark? Un saludo.
I went to H&M recently after not having shopped there for a couple years as their business pants were affordable, durable, and used to fit me like a glove. I found TWO items of decent quality that fit me and the one that was on sale was also unlined. Most of the items were early SHEIN level trash (based on observations of what friends had purchased). Items were made of mostly synthetic fabric that was paper thin and looked as if it had been worn in for over 10 yrs and/or had horrible unflattering cuts and were sewn terribly. So sad. Looks like I can only rely on thrifting for affordable business casual now.
Not even trying to be ugly, but i would shop target or Walmart before seriously shopping at hm. Not only is hm very cheap in quality, the styles they sell are very ugly. No one wants their budget glam shyt.
Idk what happened to them, growing up I spent my summers in Sweden with my grandma and at the end she always took me there to get back to school clothes. She took me there because they were CHEAP but the clothes were actually decent and lasted me easily all year and more (usually just grew out of them). I was so excited when they came to my city in the states. Granted I was 7-16 yrs old then and am 36 now so this was awhile ago but it still sucks to see they have gone downhill.
H&M has always carried poor quality merchandise. Overpriced disposable garments that you're lucky if you get one full wearing out of before they disintegrate.
My educated guess would tell you that EVERY garment in a size medium is not only not made the same but not cut or sized the same. I wouldn't be so quick to judge and a zipper should still not split from the fabric with a little give shows lack of quality.
Some items in H&M’s premium range that you can see on the app are good - I’ve bought 90-100% wool trousers and cotton jeans from there and they’re great for the price: more expensive than their standard ranges but less than the typical brands who do such quality garments that are out of my price bracket. But their main range is terrible. Why are they so popular?
Meanwhile, I am sewing a new set of linen dresses and shirts, embellishing them with hand-woven (tablet-woven) linen trims. A hand-spun, hand-knitted 100% silk shawl in my WIP basket. Another pair of fully hand-made, finest nubuck/leather shoes to finish. What would I need the shops for?
Unfortunately you have to dig through to find something decent. I've had to do it since I was a super thin 18 year old and even less as a chubby middled aged 40 something year old. I can never buy something off the rack that fits amazingly as a dress. I'm pear shaped. I have to look for high quality vicose or high quality floaty on the bottom. None of those dresses would fit me correctly.
No, seriously! I shopped there for a few items but not anymore. H&M started out ok (maybe bc we [I], as customers, didnt know better??), but now they have literally no excuse. R&D def needs an update in the Co.
You're probably closer to the factory that made it. These things are so cheap in material and labor that most of the cost comes from transportation. Not that it costs $40 more to get it to the US. Figure it's more $8 vs $16 with an 80% markup.
America is price gouging in all aspects because corporations are allowed to get away with it. There are far too many policies that are allowing corporations to price gouge, still pay low wages and oh yeah get all the tax breaks in the world all while still producing CRAP product.
I have an H&M pencil skirt from 5-6 years ago. It's no luxury garment but the drop in quality is SO obvious when I compare it to what is being sold today.
I used to go to H&M for back to school shopping and it was cheaper then but still poor quality and overpriced. Those leggings split before a year was up💀
@@marleyhill34 yeah my casual leggings are like the high intensity work out ones because they are usually a thicker material. But if I ever buy new leggings again I’m probably going for a specialty pair from a nicer brand so I feel like I got more of my moneys worth
And this is why I only shop there for certain items from natural fibers. And I SCOUR through them. I’m not spending that amount of money on clothing that is not gonna last.
I am actually really happy I haven't worked retail for the past four years (not .my choice lol) I couldn't imagine trying to sell this shit. I worked in high-end retail but I do know their prices have come up too...for no reason 😅
It seems like with the first shirt you showed they’re expecting people to overlook the crappy craftsmanship (if you can call it that) & convince yourself “it’s the style”. Sadly, I’m sure there are plenty of people who bought it.
I’ve been cleaning out some clothes I had in storage from the early 90’s..the quality is so much better from the fabric, to the design, everything. Makes me sad honestly that we’re getting so swindled now.
I didn’t even know H&M sold stuff at that price point lol I just buy my toddler stuff there because it’s cheap and cute and I know she’ll tear it up anyway 😂
i only shop at the sale section at H&M. i bought a super cute tshirt for $4 and a hoodie for $16. theyre good quality, too. you just gotta know where to look!
I bought one jacket about 8 years ago from h&m that was really well made, but every other time I've looked in there the clothes have been both really poorly made and of the most appalling fabrics.
Fast fashion doesn’t offer quality for the price the items are listed at. It’s very difficult to find something decent, even in Zara. They try to provide the “look” at the cheapest price possible, without the hefty price tag but it’s not even worth the retail price. Italian and French designers and mid range stores far better quality than high street stores. At times, you get things for the same price or less.
I rarely buy something from that brand because every time I go to the store I don't see good quality and it seems expensive for what it is... and I see that you agree with me... I see on social networks how they promote H&M outfits but when I go It doesn't look as good in person. I prefer to shop at Zara
It’s insane how much quality of life has reduced a the price tag of everything has increased like literally wanting to invest in my wardrobe has become a pain. Because to get good quality you have to break the bank to have a decent made fit which is overpriced and probably cost pennies on the dollar to construct. People won’t stop supporting it. They are continuing to buy these low value items at high prices. Even designer stuff are a rip of.
Almost all my tops are from H&M (I jabe like 6 tops, minimalist closet) yeah, most of the stuff there is kinda trash, but every once in a while you find something good
