i was oilfield for 10 years im 28 now but yeah H2S scared me. My first week on the job at 18 my monitor went off and I started running and my foreman was laughing at me so hard. It was a false alarm but i tell ya I wasn't waiting around to find out lmao. Stay safe brothers !

Fuck I had bad experience. My boss actually idk what he was doing.. always reusing old shit and gas shot out in his face and he yelled boys me and my co worker when I looked up his knees hardly bent and fell straight back. Ran too him held my breath and dragged him out. Me and my co worker. I had to take a breath and the gas was so strong scared the shit out of me. Be we made it. Scary part was watching him come too. Felt like forever.. but he came back in like 40 seconds. Idk maybe a minute. My co worker told him idk what you were doing you tried grabbing my dick so I knocked you out. Lol

I get pissed at my guys if they don't stop what they're doing when a low level alarm goes off. While 14ppm won't kill you, on my site, anything above 0ppm is enough to cause concern and head to the muster point.

H2S is terryfing shit. I've seen way to many videos at workplace safety courses and training over the years. Watching a dude run in to a building to save his buddy then die convulsing and foaming blood out your mouth while your eyes basically melt is some shit i cant unsee.

How do you know who died? I know H2S is fatal at high concentrations but I'd like to find a news article or something clarifying which workers died and which ones survived.
@k1ng5urfer
@k1ng5urfer 3 месяца назад
@@friencheetah I can tell you with some heavy certainty those dudes died or at best recovered with massive brain damage (very unlikely). The convulsions that the rescuer goes into when attempting to reenter the man-lift is a sign that the brain stem is already dead/dying and motor, respiratory and quickly cardiac control is gone. The other workers are already completely motionless after much longer exposure to the same gas and are almost certainly long dead at the point of the video. It is not really survivable. By the time the convulsions have begun he has no ability to respirate unaided any longer and his brain has been deprived of oxygen long enough brain damage is guaranteed and almost certainly permanent. Theoretically he could have the H2S cleared from his lungs and put on forced ventilation to get enough oxygen into his bloodstream to prevent further brain damage occurring and could make a partial recovery. But given the lift speed and clear lack of adequate support and safety measures on this site i find that monumentally unlikely. RIP boys, and F*ck whatever POS was in charge of that site.

@@ashevilleguitarpedals This isn't a "sociopath" thing. This is a "if you enter that space, you will be Victim 2" thing. This is H2S we're talking about. If he's down, he's almost certainly going to die unless there's a rescue team on-site. The most you can do to help the downed worker is to leave the space and call for help ASAP. But sadly the best course of action is to prevent these situations from happening at all, because H2S KILLS FAST.

I'm reading through these comments and agree that personal safety is the main priority in these situations, but damn... that man without a respirator died a hero. It's true that he failed to ensure his own safety and that costed him his life (or whoever directed him to go down there without a respirator) but that doesn't take away his initiative and the lengths he went to try to save a life. A hero. Please remember to wear PPE everyone, it's easy to forget about ourselves when rescuing, but we can't rescue if we don't first protect ourselves. Thanks for sharing (from a nurse).

I remember my dad telling me of a well that was being dug back in the 1930s or so. They were down about 80 feet. The two men down there went lifeless. They sent a man to go check on them and then of course, he went lifeless. History keeps repeating itself. Ppl never learn. Seems the only guy that survived here was the guy wearing the SCBA.

It has a few different sources but in this video it's likely from decomposition of high sulfur organic material below the construction area. It's called different things and 'sewer gas' is one name. In the oil & gas industry it's often called 'sour gas.' It's heavier than air an will concentrate in low lying areas.

This is communist propaganda. Yes, the video is accurate. And certainly, precautions need to be taken on the job site. But when you watch this video, note that there’s no context. That matters because statistically, factory work and construction isn’t very dangerous. There are several other occupations which are more dangerous, such as taxi driver, high school teacher, and plumber. But the objective of communists is to control the entire economy. So they use workplace accidents to claim that only strict government control can ensure safety. That control will be total surveillance. If you are unfortunate enough to drive a Mack Truck, the truck will sign-in to your Google account, and then link driver controls to your psychological profile. So if you accelerate or brake too hard, those small crimes will go in your file. And those are real crimes.
