5Billy was the net takings of PooHole (the company that made pubg) and so Brendans take of that would be much smaller. his net worth is probably more like 50 million or something far lower than five billies. The company needs to spend millions a month just on servers and then think of all their overheads like rent and the wages of all their employees. Brendan would just be on a salary coupled with an equity deal as founder of the game but he is by no means the head of poohole or anything like that

And perhaps the Fortnite creator can show this guy how to properly port over to console. Yes, I know it’s “early access” but I also play PC so I know that early access still means playable. PubG on Xbox is definitely unplayable unless you can grind out 40 hours and to learn how to aim with 5fps. Nonetheless, I love PubG and Fortnite.

I’m playing PUBG on xbox never ever played on pc, it still makes me happy that he was able to bring the game to consoles no matter the performance. There’s a lot that goes into game creating that no one understands, it’s just inspiring to see him talk about the game because you can tell he loves making it just as he loves talking bout it

I am all for free market competition so long as it's not competition over public services like water, electricity, etc. The reason for that is because if monopolies gain control over any market the competition goes out the window and with it so does innovation. That is all I am saying, that an entirely free market doesn't always work for the best. I also said that he "recognises that at the moment we have no ideal way of protecting the little guy" and I meant that, I don't think any solution is perfect. I am also not saying PUBG is the little guy and i'm not defending PUBG at all, i am trying (very naively) to have a legitimate discussion in the youtube comments, which is exactly what you have taken from that. I'm not saying Brendan is a good person or developer, if you want my honest opinion I don't actually think he is, I don't like battlegrounds, it's not technically well created and I honestly don't think "throw a 100 men into an area and have them fight to the death" is that original of an idea either, he just got lucky pushing into a style of game that nobody had done successfully yet. You can't just always let the market decide, competition and innovation is good, it's almost always better for consumers but dirty play from big companies and monopolies harm consumers, competition and innovation. Like Remon above said, big companies can also use this against indies, i'm aware of that i'm trying to say we have no good solution because any already existing IP protection is too easily exploited in the games industry but i understand his point.

Oh, guess we've read different sides of the story, fair enough. In all honestness he is buttering PUBG in this interview. The game is extremely badly optimized and they're clearly ignoring customers in their forums. Alot of people are having problems with game freezes and game crashes but just simply saying "Has to be your computer specs" But knowing someone irl that has these problems with a newly built PC priced at about roughly 4k. The game is good itself but the way they're handling customer support is almost as bad as EA.

Except that wasn't what he was saying at all. You can make as many Italian crime movies as you want, but when you take every single thing that makes The Godfather or Goodfellas their own thing and then just blatantly rip it off, then you've crossed a line. He isn't trying to own the battle royale genre but all of the mechanics and components that make PUBG unique and I don't see anything wrong with that.
