Not defending Trump, but who isn't "very anxious" at the thought of being arrested. Most people panic when a cop pulls behind them in traffic -- doesn't matter if they're not doing anything wrong.
If I know I am generally a law abiding person, I am not that anxious when a cop pulls me over. I've got a taillight out or something. Trump is anxious because he has a lifetime of crimes he hasn't answered for. Once that box is opened, he has A LOT to be......anxious about. And deservedly so.
As of yet, nobody has suggested he is going to be arrested. He has to appear before the grand jury. This is Trump trying his hand at insurrection again, this time taking down the justice dept.
Excellent point .. just because a case is trivial in comparison to the multiple other more egregious crimes he is alleged to have committed, doesn't mean they won't be tried.
Yah, I 'm not holding my breath. Even if he's arrested, he isn't going to jail. They'll take his picture and fingerprints and then accept his bail money and send him on his way. It would be the same for anyone under similar circumstances.

This IS the first of 4 criminal charges he's about to get hit with. There are also a few civil cases on top of that. This is the start of the avalanche. So the party is just getting started, and it's going to get better and better!!
Call me petty but, I would love it if they didn’t pick him up until late enough in the day that he would need to spend the night in jail because the courts were already closed.
The fact that the Capitol was overrun and sacked and there was no effort whatsoever to evacuate the president from DC to a secure, remote location tells you all you need to know about who launched and directed the attack.

I think it's the whole "president" thing that makes it unprecedented -- no pun intended. This country doesn't indict their presidents. We may force them out of office and into hiding, but not usually to jail. Trump is not going to jail...not in the near future anyway. If he's arrested he'll be out on bail after he gets his picture and fingerprints taken.
It is unprecedented because the DOJ has been weaponized against its political opponents. Trump will get off on these charges. There is a statute of limitations; all this will do is rally the base and the moderates it Trump's favor. If this happens Tuesday. The left will not win in 2024.

If your average Joe Citizen would be arrested and jailed for a particular crime, then Trump should also be held accountable for the same crime. Trump is not immune because he used to be a criminal President.

No politician would ever say "I will be arrested on day X" unless they really knew it. It's a sure sign of defeat. All other crooks, e.g. like Scam Bankman Fraud, all claimed they did nothing illegal and would "not be arrested". For a crook to admit "I will be arrested" is a huge positive sign: a sign of defeat.

I just want to make sure I understand the situation correctly. In the United States, someone who is convicted of a felony loses their right to vote in a presidential election. However, they can still run and be elected US President, is that correct?
Each states determine that. I think about half the states allow you to vote if you have a felony conviction once you have served your time. It is moving in the way of allowing people to vote, i believe a few states in past few years changed to now allowing felons to vote. The actual constitution has very few restrictions on who can run for president.. i think the idea being that voters wouldnt vote for a felon anyway.
The NY indictment is only a prelude to what awaits him in GEORGIA. This is my opinion the prosecutors are letting the NY indictment go forward first before he’s hit with what I believe to be a massive INDICTMENT in GEORGIA.
With our corrupt judicial system, I don't know. I am not at all confident. If Trump does escape prosecution entirely, which, unfortunately, is more likely than not, I do not believe it will help him get elected. Our system is so weak and corrupt and our voters are so gullible, and our elections are not even by popular votes. We need to reboot, get money out of politics.
And we haven't even gotten to his 1/6/2021 culpability yet. His ultimate compilation of sentencings will make Bernie Madoff's multiple consecutive life terms look like house arrest on weekends.
The relatively smaller case should allow them to work out any kinks in such high profile prosecutions as well as gain them insight as to how the defense will operate. It also works to gradually drain his money supply & support.

If he actually is arrested and has to go through the process, I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with him. He is going to bully and threaten every single person along the line, from the arresting officers to the guy who handles the fingerprints, and so forth.
