Whenever I'm feeling down and blue, I tune into Lanier's channel and I am uplifted anew! Heck, I was sitting here in a pair of sweats while stuffing my pie-hole with cheese-wiz and downing a mountain dew...but magically I am transported and find myself wearing a Hugo Boss suit and feasting on caviar while sipping a champagne cocktail. Go figure! Okay, I don't wear sweats nor feast on cheese-wiz or drink mountain spew, but your wonderfully classy fragrance reviews sure do make me feel like a million bucks!. Enjoyed, as always.
Lanier, you are always SO interesting! Love the history and artistic flair in your lovely, detailed reviews. You are the very BEST reviewer IMO. Thank you!
Thank you Lanier for reviewing this fragrance, I have been leaning towards a purchase of Habit Rouge. I enjoy your very well done videos! You're the BEST!
+jcarrickzilla you made my Sunday afternoon perfect with your kind comment. If you do get Habit Rouge I hope it surpasses my description and that you will be happy with it.
i tried to give 2 thumbs up to this video because liking it isnt enough to describe how great is your job, very well done review, looking forward to try this legendary smell
This is such an interesting video Lanier!!! No edits here. And I love the commentary with the candle and cocktail! I'm really back into this marvel Baroque fragrance. The layering of the EDT and EDP is is like swinging from a chandelier in some grand earlier time. Almost a Holy Grail scent like feeling of The Italian Renaissance or The French Revolution. It's not everyone's thing but it's really monumental! Riding in a red jacket without words needed.
Thanks Lanier...always a pleasure to peep your vids...both for the fragrance review and the cocktail selections! I have this both in edt and edp...I enjoy both quite a bit. Have a great holiday season my friend.
+The Bopper It wouldn't be Christmas without a visit from The Bopper! Thanks my friend and my you have a safe and wonderful Holiday Season. Cheers, Salute et Fabuleux!
My pleasure! I’m new to your channel, and I’m so happy to have accidentally discover it while researching the newest addition to my collect, Habit Rouge. I appreciate your ability place fragrance within a broader cultural context. If we are to believe that fragrance is an art, then we must make effort to discuss it beyond the narrow minded “performance and compliments-getter” frameworks. Your analysis is thoughtful and compelling. Such a pleasure finding a new, articulate and thoughtful creator in this space! Keep up the good work!
Smelled this today... Apparently worn by Keith Richards, and thats who I'm reminded of. This, to me, is 60s rock and roll in a bottle. Absolutely sublime!
Thanks! Hey btw, I really recommend Replica Jazz Club to you... I'm just very curious what you make of it. Kind of reminds of this one a little actually ;)
Another classy review with interesting cinematic and cultural references. Scents are not created in a vacuum, of course, and your reviews make this clear. I agree with you on the sweetness trend and your recommendation to wear what you like and not to blindly follow trends. You are a true gentleman!👍
Happy Holidays! I A great scent . I have a mini and seeing this makes me realize I need to buy a full bottle, Thanks for the wonderful review. Cheers !
The fragrance, class! I do enjoy your reviews. Carnaby St. is still one of my favorite places in London. Right next to Liberty, which means fragrance paradise! I wish you a happy holiday season. Cheers
I have the edp version . God damn i love it . my brother inlaw smelled it and instantly hated it . I felt insulted and offended. some people just don't have a nose for a masterpiece like this . like you said it's very sophisticated.
Nice review.. I have smelled this before, but I don't seem to remember it other than having orange smell. I would like to smell it again and maybe buy it since Guerlain's fragrances are great :)
Parth I Love your comment. I was once that college guy with the sophisticated nose too! I'm thrill as well that you have a new jewel in your collection.
Thank you, Sir Lanier for this masterful review! I, too love Habit Rouge and am so happy to have found it! JPG's masterpiece, your review of it captures its spirit perfectly. Would you ever consider doing a video review of Vétiver? I wonder what cocktail you'd pair w/ JP's first men's fragrance, which is also splendid. Anyway, thank you.
Sounds very interesting one indeed... I enjoy the videos get a little drink mixing lesson some history and a fragrance review to top it up. Whats not to like!
Great review! Thanks Lanier. This one has been sitting on my To Try List.. but you just kicked it up to the top! Question though, what are your thoughts on the EDT vs the EDP? Is the EDT the one to go for?
Just discovered this channel . great stuff mate. Don't get this HR at all . I kept hearing it was a mp .But on my skin its dreadful. citrus for about 30 seconds is nice . But then I thinbk its rose , on me awful , like an old lady . Don't get any vanilla at all , at poor lasting to boot . On a brighter note , smelt Channel Pour M today 4 first time . Lovely . Next on list . Cheers from Edinburgh Lanier ,.
HABIT ROUGE is definitely not for everyone,it's a very MATURE,COMPLEX,BOLD,DARING LOVE/HATE cologne, now me personally it took me awhile to really like it,for the scent that it is,it's a CLASSIC,in my opinion nothing else smells quite like it.... L'INSTANT the ORIGINAL square bottle is another MASTERPIECE that tends to get overlooked....
Just got my mini today. I really wanted to like this one but I truly dislike it. There's a piercing powdery sweetness that seems artificial and unpleasant. I wanted to take it off my skin as soon as it went on and later wiped it down with 4711. I'll stick with Chanel Pour Monsieur, which I dearly love.
Hi Lanier think I might try the Eau De Parfum version. sounds gorgeous. I will nip into Debenhams and see if I can sample this seductive elixir of love!😂 if not I will buy some on line. I'm totally confident in your appraisal of this fragrance, and will test it on Mrs Trouble and unsuspecting female work colleagues! well maybe not work colleagues, far to good for that lol.
Oh Henry Mancini composed some of the best movie music and won a number of Oscars. Yes , fashion really changed then!!! I love me a Guerlain ....... must take a new sniff of Habit Rouge - that new one. I am with you .... what is it about all the "sweet" ?? I am a woman and I hate the sweet , sweet perfumes being forced on the market to us! I really think they are appealing to the kids and get them "young" and so - more consumers of your products but ....... women and men like us Lanier stop buying!!! LOLI guess this is why I love the "old lady" perfumes ...... yes I hate that label but , sadly , this is what the younger set call Mitsouko, Shalimar etc!!!
+LadyKoKo B give me an "old lady" like say, Sophia Loren over a Miley Cyrus any day! Bring on the return to sophistication, elegance and charm. Out with sloppy overly sweet and laz. In with the refined, polished, the sublime. I went to an elegant 40th floor cocktail lounge overlooking the city last Friday night and it was filled with people in ragged jeans and torn sweatshirts. It was sad.
+Lanier Smith I know Lanier ..... people wear "casual / nearly Op Shop clothing " to Weddings now !!! Its not just your country .... mine too in Australia !
I want this scent for myself. If my Papa don't steal it from me hee hee. We both like the same scents. I am mega into men's scents. So much more exotic.
If he adores it. I will buy him one too. Fathers Day soon. So, cool you met Mandy. Her Tangerine Per-Erh tea is so lovely too. Thank you for wonderful responses deary. Blessings.
