Lol you pronounced it wrong too, and also his owner's name, and his wife's name... Its "hahtch-ko, 2 syllables, owner's name is "Hee-deh-sa-bu-rou , oo-EH-no". Yaeko is Yah-eh-koh
The story of Hachiko is the most heartbreaking story I have ever heard of, a more loyal companion is hard to find I lost my second dog six months ago, it really hits hard
After watching this, I sat down with my 80yo mum and my 15yo son to watch the movie together. Such a beautiful story. Afterwards we hugged each other longer when we said goodnight.
The story of Hatchi reminded me of our sweet dog named foot. My Dad found him at a gas station in Detroit. He was just a puppy. My Dad said to the owner of the gas station… you shouldn’t leave your puppy out there he’s going to get hit by a car! The guy said the dog wasn’t his he’s a stray. My Dad picked the puppy up and put him in the back of the station wagon with us girls. He looked to be a mix of cockapoo and Scotty. Solid black with short legs and a big head. Dad named him foot because he constantly would trip over his own feet! That year we moved out of the city and went up north. Foot would walk us to the bus stop in the morning and would meet us at the bus stop after school. He knew when we were coming home because he would scratch at the door to be let out. He was such a loyal dog. Rain, sleet or snow he would meet us there. We would see that little black spot way down the road from the school bus and we knew it was Foot ❤️
Well done! Just visited Hachiko in Shibuya last week. Many people were there waiting in line to have a photo taken with him. Did not know about the mural. I will have to go back.
Very Beautiful Story. All should Watch, Appreciate & Support This Channel. God Bless Hachiko & May God Bless All Those Who Loved & Still Loves Hachiko. We Love Hachiko. God Bless Hachiko. Thank You.
Thank you so much for this. Such a beautifully done tribute to Hachiko. Probably the best one I’ve seen. We, as “humans” can learn so much from the wonderful story of this loyal soul.
I first saw HACHI A DOGS TALE with richard gere 1st time on broadcast tv the other day, wasnt expecting much but the puppy was cute so i thought "what the heck..." two hours later i was crying like a baby and huggin kissin my own fur-baby (tuxedo kitty named oreo, ) 2 1/2 years old now. Got him at 5 weeks old. Im 57 YO guy n he is my best friend. Great great film!
Thanks so much for this wonderful tribute! I had my first Akita well before the movie came out, and nobody in my country (Switzerland) knew what dog that is, but of course, everywhere I went with her there were huge gatherings around her. the movie itself makes me crying everytime i see it, and also your documentary. right now, my second, now elder and blind Akita, is sitting beside me.... oh, and dont worry about the spelling! transcription from Japanese script into Latin characters differ in any language anyway, English different from German etc. Main thing, we understand the sense of the documentary!
I imagine that Hachiko went to a train station in heaven and saw his owner emerge from the crowd getting off of the train that just pulled in. Owner smiling and making his way towards Hachiko for their walk. All dogs go to heaven ❤️
I cried a lot & couldn't stop myself towards the ending like after the passing of the professor! The part where the widow finally saw Hachi after like 10 yrs & he was all lookin old & rough. I just sobbed lol. And I'm a grown ass man & a dog owner of 2.
What an amazing story. I didn't want to pay to watch a Richard Gere movie, and yours came up along with it. I really enjoyed this. Another great true dog movie is "Red Dog" set in Australia.
INDEED A BEAUTIFUL STORY OF LOVE & LOYALTY........THANK YOU FOR PUBLISHING IT HERE ON RU-vid...SOMETIMES ANIMALS ARE MORE HUMAN THAN HUMANS....DOG MANS BEST FRIEND,,,HACHIKO WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED....
Real Love Story. Touch My Heart. Thanks JAPAN Goverment. Many Many Happy New Year 2023. Hachiko , Professor & All JAPANIES Brother's & Sisters. Aritra Das & Sarmistha Das. India. Kolkata.
I've wondered if Hachiko had actually seen his owner's dead body if he would have finally understood that he is dead and tried to move on with someone else. But because of whatever mental programming he had, he continued to believe his owner would come back for him.
I'm half Japanese, I sent this video to my mom and asked her about hachiko. Apparently the suffix "ko" means "boy" or "servant". In Japanese culture "servant" is a status symbol cuz servants are the people that execute the elite people's vision. It makes sense that the "ko" was added later and "hachi" is the number 8 and regarded as a lucky number cuz the number when written has a wide bottom and a thin top which resembles a tree with strong roots. I talked to my mom for over an hour about hachiko and she said "if you don't know hachiko, then you aren't Japanese". 😂😂😂
Ha ha , that's amazing , than you so much for sharing that , this story is one of my favourites , tell your mum I apologize for the way I pronounced certain words ☺️
@@Ponderingwithdave haha I'll pass along the message, it's ok my mom doesn't mind if people miss pronunce Japanese and told me I have the same gift she has that I can speak other languages as if I'm a native born speaker, something my brother didn't get. I go to this taco truck by my house and the woman that runs it asked if I was born in Mexico cuz I speak Spanish like I was born there so I know that my mom wasn't just saying that cuz of she is my mom. When you hear my mom speak English you can't tell that she wasn't born here. I've watched 3 videos about hachiko and yours was the most informative.
I'm a Japanese. The use of 「Koh 公」for Hachi is related to a 2nd person pronoun, not servant or the like. It's something like Mister with respect, i.e. similar to "Sir". I'm afraid you seem to be mixed up with 「Ko 子」(short Ko, not like long Koh 公) The reason why number eight (八) is considered as an auspicious number in Japan is because it represents a widening horizon and represents expanding possibilities for the future. In a World, where Loyalty has become just a tattoo. Where Love has become just a quote. And, where Lying has become the new, Truth; I don't even think Humans deserve DOGS. 🙁 That's a sad, state of affairs.

Those who are desperate to denigrate Japan claim that Hachiko was there simply because they wanted to be fed.Hachiko had been coming to the station for a long time because he wanted to meet his late boss. Those around him took pity on him and fed him.
I just watched hachi with (????????????? Gere) in it today and when I searched this movie up on Google and the story of hachi was shocking to see his true backstory was sad 😢😭😭 and I watched this video and it was sad in a way tho
Hello! Can you tell us more about Hachiko's life in Professor Ueno's house? Do you have such facts? Describe his life there, his relationship with the owner? How did Ueno treat him? How much did you love your dog? Did Ueno have a family, children? And what is shown in the Japanese film, when the professor took a bath with Hachiko, caught fleas from him for hours, and Hachi fell asleep in his arms is it true?
Do a search for "Hachiko Monogatari 1987 film (1/7) Japanese version with English and Spanish subtitles" to see the Japanese version about Hachiko's life. It's very good and it will tell you every detail that you want to know.
I once searched for God but with that search eventually turning up empty, I moved on. And just within the last couple of days for me I stumbled across the depiction of this supreme Hachi, yielded by the Richard Gere movie of quite some time ago now. So I was late in learning about this pure, noble-hearted dog. I watched the movie, not knowing at all what to expect, and at the end of it I crumbled into a heart-broken heap, sobbing until it seemed I'd flushed life almost completely from my body, emptying it of tears shaped by both sorrow and awe. I've never loved anything in a movie or any other form of art that I loved and will continue to love as I now love Hachi. To me, God remains a mere fiction, but Hachi will now live on for me as the very depth of true soul, devotion, and transcendent glory. If God existed, he'd deserve no more in my eyes than to bend at the knee before Hachi, the truest form of life that my imagination, now in its old age, has come to realize. I love this dog and will keep his matchless inner beauty and devotion as an inspirational guide setting an unreachable standard for me to reach, even if only once, but a standard still to truly love and to lead me on in what earthly years I have left.
