I honestly can't tell if I face subtle cheaters or not but the three most common cheats I *feel* like I deal with are: The small speed increase Unprompted speed boost And a small lag spike when I am close enough to hit them.
Honestly, that last one might just be DBD. I think the game begins to validate positioning a lot when the killer is near survivors. I play on an old laptop, and in about 30% of my games, I get massive frame drops whenever the killer gets nearby me. I can only assume it's a combination of an increase in packets, my old laptop, and a killer playing from the moon.
@@irregularassassin6380 Definitely a possibility and validation is also able to explain a lot of the other stuff. The problem is it's hard to tell because those are also cheats that exist on top of that. :(
@@DarkTailsTheFox yeah, the fact that those subtle cheaters exist in a game that already has so many problems is really frustrating. Never wanna rush to call someone a cheater but it’s even worse to be beat and believe that you genuinely lost in a fair match.
@@khalilrahme5227 since Shadowborn increases the vision field, it looks as if he was faster, but it's just the perk giving a little bit more of visual field
At 0:35 Otz mindgamed his red stain because his body was obscured by the pallet and the guys subtle speed boost was enough for him not react in time and he literally ran into his lunge range
And then there are the ones that you can't down, and just teleport all around.... while Tbagging you and calling you a horrible killer even tho you killed everione else it's just sad..
it could've been a mix between shadowborn's pov + self-aware + rpd's corridors. i often come across survivors who seem to run faster than normal when using sprint burst in RPD and i think it has to do with the map's corridors being really, really narrow. somehow it makes it look like they're pro athletes
The relative speed of the survivor shouldn’t change It still takes x second to close the gap regardless of perceived speed About 4 seconds roughly to be back where you started as far as gap another 1-2 to have your red stain on them After thousands of hours regardless of what it looks like the chase feel will be the same and you know it’s just perception
@@jrich436 The thing about RPD's corridors being tight contributing to survs' ability to gain distance is that if they make a lot of turns you're going to lose more distance unless they fucked up on the turns too or you're very precise with movement. Survivors have an easier time moving through the map quickly because they're smaller, so sprint burst on rpd is still better than on other maps if the survivor knows where they're going (which they probably do).
@@jrich436 exactly my thoughts too but maybe with increasingly good ping between the chased and chaser the hallways on rpd might make sprint burst "faster" or "efficient" like extremely to the point the 3 seconds of sprint burst seem like 4 because of how narrow and straight the hall is. my logic is telling me this because the game could be not having to load as much of the map as it does when all 4 survivors are spread apart on rpd. in this clip all 5 players were on the same floor and corner. super sussy.
I agree that it's sad that we have to analyze videos like these to double check that someone wasn't hacking because it's not uncommon for subtle cheaters to exist in DBD but I also think double checking sketchy gameplay of other people is an important part of cleaning up the DBD hacking pandemic.
@@randomrecruit i come from thousands of hours in fps games where high fov is standard n dbds fov without shadowborn is super narrow, gives me motion sickness n is jus generally uncomfortable to play
@@thenihilanth3382 Bond to see survivors. Windows to see pallets/vaults. VIsionary (Felix perk) to see generators. And open handed for the extra range. My go to build.
This video perfectly exemplifies the bigger issue with cheating. Subtle cheaters cast such an air of doubt over every game you play, and take a lot of the fun out of it. You don't know if a victory or loss was truly well earned because you can't quite tell sometimes if somebody moved a bit too fast, or if they got sprint burst 5 seconds too soon. Most players don't have every game recorded and don't get the benefit of hindsight to check it out, and its such a shame.
It's even worse when the hacking is attached to generator repair speeds because the killer can't be everywhere at once so you sometimes just have to assume "oh maybe there were 3 survivors in that area on that gen....maybe why it popped so fast...and then they stealthed away" It's very hard to explain and even harder to prove super fast generator repair speeds were due to hacks.
Yes of course, absolutely no doubt about that. I was wondering if he somehow saw her before he got there but that was the first time so he had no reason to think that she had already used it
@@user-ng4wt9bg4w Well, a good sprint burst user typically immediately uses it to get to a gen or to get it 99% at the begging of the match. Bad sprint burst users usually walk everywhere and only run when leaving gens or when the killer gets near. She used it really well but still walked at the beginning, and he didn't have good LOS until when she used it so it makes sense why he was confused there.
@@TheDreadedJuggernaut It’s not always best to use it at the start of the game. (1) Maybe she spawned at the gen. (2) She has fixated and may have spawned close and obviously walks quicker. (3) She clearly got use out of Sprint Burst by saving it there (she avoided a hit). I agree that people walking around for the whole match basically throw the game by being so suboptimal, yet you totally don’t need to use it if you are near your goal/ideal location such as a gen or whatever. Also if you’re unaware of the killer and you are near your goal if it were to be a Blight that immediately ends up on you, you’ll have your Sprint Burst ready. It was either that he just assumed that she used it at the very beginning of the match, or saw the scratch marks around the gen and confused them for the other person. Not having good LOS doesn’t mean that he should conclude stuff like that though. Have a great day anyways
@@user-ng4wt9bg4w I mean, you explained exactly why it was reasonable to assume she already used it yourself, then said not to make assumptions based on reasonable assumptions? Idk why you're correcting me on sprint burst usage too when all I mentioned them for is why he assumed she used it, not to give a lecture on the only cases you can ever use the perk for in every possible scenario.
@@LiteByt yeah, it only captures half of the perk and imo the less important half. I guess fixated was the same, but at least that covered the important part
What spooks me is seeing Fixated, Calm Spirit, Head On, and even Alert in a game instead of full hand of meta perks on everyone. And there's only one Dead Hard! Truly a rare match. Hope there was no one cheating
@@avocadothecat Oh yeah. Easily. I see at least 1 or 2 Circle of Healings in a good portion of my killer matches now. And as survivor I use it a lot as well. It's insanely powerful and I'm personally expecting a nerf to it in the near future.
Definitely cheating. Haven't watched the whole video but I can already tell at 0:35 the subtle speed boost was enough for them to be too fast to react to when otz mindgamed his red stain, that the guy literally ran into his lunge range
Are you surprised if those players see the same killer perks over and over? Everyone can use whatever perk/item they want in this game, and players are not to blame if they are op.
I'm pretty sure its this, have seen 2 within 20 hours a while ago. after watching the whole video I'm not sure, though I'm nowhere near his hours it just looks weird to me. its not what I experienced being 3 bursts while looping shack, but it still looks jank. increased FoV and that fixated/ sprint burst might be the culprit it feeling this weird.
I think it’s FOV for sure. I once saw a streamer call out another streamer for “tp/speed hacks” watching the VOD review from both sides showed it was the killers stretch res that made them look stupidly fast
In the first encounter she is just walking until halfway up the stairs, and then breaks into sprint burst. Due to the railing obscuring her at just the right time we don't see the subtle change in her posture.
@@terrormansakata9626 you can see in the post game scoreboard she had fixated. It was the other person at the beginning that was running so that's why you see scratch marks. They were not hers though.
At the beginning, she didn't have Sprint Burst 99'd. You can see her walk with Self-Aware halfway up the stairs while the meg was sprinting (0:25) . I really think it was just Shadowborn making it look suspiciously quick, because she never gets sprint burst back unusually quickly.
yeah, she was just using fixated to walk everywhere. actually super counter productive. edit: when he hit her before the first kill, she didn't even run away with the speed boost. just walked down the hall. that's why she had SB back when he tried to hit her at the top of the steps.
Actually, I'm a proud (and sure enjoyer) Shadowborn-Blight addict, and the times I faced Fixated in game did not felt as speedy as the fixated user on this video, but maybe it's just me(?
I sometimes run a meme build with friends. Tenacity, Urban Evasion, Fixated, Sprint Burst. Always surprises me how many killers I juke with Fixated's speed. They always stop looking/following JUST as they're about to get to me and turn around.
Man, I havent watched any Otz vids or streams in nearly a year. This was such a little gem to find out of no where. I thoroughly enjoyed the little mystery and Otz's bewilderment, followed by a clean conslusion. Like come on, the stairs free vertical movement combined with fixated to explain the speed?! Thats too fucking hilarious.
Its true that it feels like being gaslighted when hackers do it subtly and when they do something that clearly needs hacks to do it can be seen as just a well timed use of a perk unless closely viewed
2 days ago I was having a rough match as nemesis since I recently started playing killer again but later in the match i have a Meg who doesn’t get downed by my hit, runs quicker then normal, picks herself up in the span of 5 seconds twice and uses dead hard as soon as she picks herself up to avoid my hit (they were running quick n quiet, borrowed, sprint burst and adrenaline but there was still one gen left) at the moment I was done with dbd but now I have a funny clip to look back to!
The other day I played against a premade with an autoheal cheat, also they autounhook themselves. At least I win 31k bloodpoints for hitting them and using the power of the doctor
Auto heal could have been med kit add on You CAN Kobe (self unhook) without deliverance If they did it twice, each time on the first try it’s highly unlikely and then I’d say hack for sure
@@jrich436 Nono, it was actually a hack. I keep hitting the same guy more than 30 times and he kept instahealing in my face lol even he recover from the ground multiple times, the same with 2 of his friends. At the end of the match I saw that they were new steam accounts and they started to insult the teamate that wasn't hacking
I played against a premade doing the same thing and reported all of them. Ran into them TWICE in a row the same day. They basically farmed with me and made me let them go. They all were able to auto-unhook themselves and instaheal in my face.
A lot of these streamers do that where they overreact to something and immediately call it hacks. Cheating is prevalent though, so I can somewhat see where he's coming from.
@@MDCxThePG to be fair, otz one time missed a Kate who went into the shack and she ‘disappeared’ but actually just went against the wall instead of going to the pallet or window
i finally caught a stream for the first time and actually watched you live. thanks for actually being a content creator who definitely actknowledges and interacts with all their fans !
I’ve seen a couple very subtle chests such as: Slightly increased vault speed Infinite flashlight/toolboxes Faster exhaustion recovery Infinite dead hard Very small increase of speed Automatic dead hard Longer lasting sprint bursts/ speed boosts Certain perk effects without the perk, ex. Self caring without self care, dead hard without dead hard or decisive strike without DS
Vault speed might be one if the survivors don’t have spine chill or the other vault perk I forgot, they might have vigil for dead hard or they have 2 of the same person and you possibly mixed them up, I don’t think there are automatic dead hards (honestly sounds like autoclicker),do you keep track on how long someone runs, speed increase without being in endgame where all gens are done or using exhaustion perks and everything else is reasonable or suspicious unless or survivors are identical then you need to keep track of names because we don’t wanna falsely accuse people unless there is confirmation
I often use that build on survivor. SB, Fixated / Self-Aware, Lightweight, Urban Evasion sometimes Virgil instead of UE. The point is to run away ASAP and hide as soon as you get out of LOS. You use the higher walkspeed to gain more distance than usual while hiding your trail, you make your trail fade faster and you use UE in order to gain even more distance with smaller cover. It's useless for true chases, unhooking or working gens, but it allows you to fool killers better the more skilled they are, because you "vanish" out of the area they predict you to reasonably be in. It's a tiny margin but these perks help capitalising on that tiny margin between expectation and reality.
I know when I bring SB I usually try to save it in the beginning of the match for as long as possible. You never know if the killer is gonna find you first & you’ll need that SB to get somewhere safer :) I also pretty much always bring Fixated with it, idk why but it feels wrong to go into a match with SB & not Fixated lol
I had a hacker yesterday that made it really subtle until I got 2 of them on hook, she then ran at the speed of blight and when I caught her unhooking changed her own health state
She saved her sprint burst in the beginning. I don’t think it’s that hard to figure out. She was walking (fast) up the stairs and once she saw the killer she started to run and used sprint burst
99,99% of the time, against everything that's not a Hillbilly and speed wraith, it is best to use sprint burst at the start of the game to just get to a generator ASAP. Saving 15 seconds on a generator by running there is a lot better than having SB ready in the 1/4 chance that the killer finds you. In short, against any other killer, walking to that generator was an incredible missplay.
5:00 this was the most weird part for me. But rewatching it she was walking very fast after the hit cause of the sprint burst that she got from it. It’s just that usually people run while she was walking instead
Now although it might appear at first to be a bit sus especially when these trash bags ruining our game, but it all checks out when I think about it ( *as a rat who uses this combo myself* )... More than likely they walked to the gen and when Otz looked at them they walked away like the rat they are because spine chill and did the age old meghead Sprint burst when they're close gag... undoubtedly they probably started walking every time otz stopped chasing which explains the constant SBs
I also thought they had spine chill in that first chase they were to far from the gen and Otz was too fast for them to just leave the gen by hearing the Wraith
Hey Otz! What's the FAQ? been watching you since the start of the year but I've never had the chance to watch a stream, love the content please keep it up! ❤
I use fixated and sprint burst a lot and I will also point out that fixated walking looks a lot faster on the female survivors due to the different animations so that could also play a part in it
Some of the speed boosts could be from the pumpkins and parts where it looks like she’s moving faster than she really is is from the FOV increase. One of the things that I like about increased FOV is how movement looks more natural but when you don’t use it constantly it looks whacky.
Just remember that the more fast you are, more likely to your walking animation starts growing for a running animation. You don't press shift to run, but your character do that little speed walk. Bhvr updated that animation a while a Go. I think Otz should go on a match using fixated and then kick a speed pumpkin to see the difference in the animation.
As someone who regularly runs Vigil-Sprint Burst-Fixated, I feel represented, assuming that person isn't actually cheating (typing this at the 6-min mark)egularly,
Though it's a little late, my hypothesis is that (using RU-vid's slowed down playback) when otz starts uncloaking you see a Meg and a Mikaela, Meg vaults, otz loses sight of the Mikaela, I think the one he was chasing ran to the right (scratch marks on the door in the hall to the right) and it was the second Mikaela that was just walking away from the gen he saw that used spring burst when he regained line of sight of who he thought was the same Mikaela.
I used to run this build lol (no botany knowledge, had BT instead) and it was very fun. It’s even more fun now with the new Vigil, although I’ve been doing For The People/Vigil/Empathy/Dead Hard more often nowadays.
Otz: "I suspect she could be cheating, but I could be wrong" Otz's chat: "OMG! Report the cheater, she's obviously hacking! Kill her first born and imprison four generations of her family!" Otz: "Oh wait.. she's not cheating. She was just walking, I was wrong" Otz's chat: "haha.. yea.. those perks are crazy good.. haha"
TBF the most common hacks I encounter are minor speed boosts to everything and Extra perk Hacks that allow you to run more than 4 Perks, and I've found this to be the case on both sides
I’ve had weird lag spikes right when I can hit people (I just assumed that’s my console’s doing) and I’ve also run into a lot more people who fling open the exit gates within 0.03 seconds after I closed hatch and they don’t have any speed altering perks, but I suppose they just have a better gaming chair then I do
If just sprintburst and fixated was enough to make Otz question a player's legitimacy, I can't imagine how killers feel about me when I use vigil on top of those xD. Literally can get sprintburst mid chase, it's so nice.
Honestly with the event as well they could done a nice little smashing pumpkin act for haste just before that a couple of those questionable encounters. I know I’ve done it a few times right before getting chased.
If you use sprint burst/get hit and then just walk (tested with fixated) your survivor animation will become running. This survivor had walking animation, thats hard to see because shes carrying an item, but i think it was walking animation
Vigil, sprint burst, and fixated... pulled the build right out of my head. I was playing around with that idea literally yesterday. Unfortunately, I don't have vigil.
It really does suck that first reaction is "Cheater?" and not "Non-meta build?". If only something other than Easy (To-Bypass) Anti-Cheat was used. Thanks for the video Otz!
The guy was walking everywhere with fixated to keep his sprint burst until he was in chase, and the guy walked with fixated mid chase to sprint burst away
Self-Aware (Fixated) + Sprint Burst is a build I picked up from ANGRYPUG. Not sure if he's the creator of the build or not, but it's an AMAZING build when paired with perks like Adrenaline and Wake Up. The stairs effect does make it look like she's sprinting, but the Self-Aware + vertical movement could easily trick the eye. It's not you Otz, you're just paranoid like the rest of us that our lobbies are filling more and more with hackers.
I started playing survivor, and I notice a huge problem at low rank survivor games: AFK killer for grinding BP or de-rank. On average, 70% of the matches are AFK killers, and the killers have script to type out ads to sell hacks. In those ads, quote: "It is not bannable for AFK, use it to grind BP effortless!". I am still waiting for BHVR to do something about it with all the reports.
console? The best thing I do is make the most of it. Do gens with others for objective, get hit and heal in front of them for altruism, stay long enough in the basement for boldness and escape healthily for survival.
She had spine chill which let her know you were coming, she was already walking off the gen as you came from the doorway, only to begin running art the top of the stairs, felt like the sprint burst lasted a while NGL tho
I just had a cheater in a game with some friends, a hunteress with 0 perks or addons, but somehow had the effects of BBQ, had obvious wallhacks, could hit you with a tomahawk even when out of line of sight, and could snuff boons simply by walking over them... such skill, much wow
