*OMG! I did this all the time in Brawl's online!* There was no moderation in Brawl's online, so I was unbannable! xD It was so fun to hack in stages that are unplayable. My favorite was hacking in the Target Smash (LVL1) stage... It was even more fun letting the match go to sudden death because the bombs only spawned at the bottom/center of the stage, so me and whoever else would be able to play however long we wanted. The stage where you test your controls was also playable. It had no death boundaries, so the match would literally last forever until we all just quit the match. 🤣 The Custom Stage option was only able to be picked via hacks because Brawl's Net Code didn't allow Custom Stages, but if I choose it, the game spawns us all in a complete blank stage (no floor & the background is black)... 🤣 it was so funny because there were still death boundaries so everybody would repeatedly just fall to their death, then respawn... basically, who ever had the best jump would survive xD. Also... not only was Giga Bowser playable through hacks... but Super Wario was playable too! -- but, if you choose SW, you HAVE to die before the match ends or the game will crash (presumably because SW does not have a win/lose animation -- giga bowser still t posed lol). Another funny hack was being able to actually hit your opponent while they are in their victory pose within the actual results screen; this was because the result area was an actual stage like in Ult. That code would let me to get last the petty last hit xD... but if I die or kill somebody the game crashes 🤣. Ah-Memories. ;)

As someone who's worked with making games, that thing with the results area and the like being loadable as stages is actually extremely common with most engines, as just about everything is built as a 'level', filewise. Hell, if you knew the files you could even probably load the menus as a stage, though depending how they're set up you could easily end up with a crash or it not really being someone you could effectively play on.

You are so entertaining. Thanks for sharing the cool backstage view of Smash. It is, as you said, very interesting to get a glimpse of the "how is it made" part of things.

Although they wouldn't work well for versus or competitive, I would LOVE if Nintendo put Boss characters like Master Hand and Giga Bowser in as playable characters. Granted they're unfair UNLESS you make them abide by the 64 hack rules where they have HP instead of percentages and stocks, so they're still even footed with you.

I encountered this same hacker RareKirby yesterday randomly online. I was Bowser and he fought me as Pac-Man on the Monster Hunter Rathalos boss stage he hacked into the game. It was fun and I'm grateful to him for the experience of getting to play on a stage that normally is only playable as a boss battle.
