Though I havent seen the video but you reminded me some 18 years back when you just add a router and your net will stop (single user broadband). Then i used ttl modifying in MT to bypass firewall rule of ISP to use the router
Side note. If you want to hotspot from an android cellphone without being caught then you can set up a proxy on your phone and route your hotspoted devices through that proxy.

Edit: I had to set it to bridge, not to LTE interface. It works! I am still amazed with Tiks! ;) After adding this postrouting, TTL from PC is 53 when MT terminal has 54. Any advice?
So a problem you might run into with this method is that if they check the devices IMEI and see that its not spoofed? You could run afoul of your carriers ToS.

By plug in modem (not mode as you mentioned) he means a USB 4G/LTE modem, connected to the Mikrotik's USB port. If I recall correctly, you can plug Android phones directly to the Mikrotik's USB port and share the phones internet to the Mikrotik via USB.
Regarding the hops, pc -> Mikrotik -> USB modem . Pc would have TTL of 65, Mikrotik would be 64, USB modem would be 63 etc. Atleast that is how I understand it to be.
i did that and worked for a couple of days but today I'm being thortled to .8mbit DL...upload is ok...TMobile somehow noticed it, I think the Radio IMEI need to be spoofed to an actual phone IMEI. otherwise they know something else is accessing the network and is not a cell :(

Providers only check the IMEI when they provide a locked device or router that's sold as an integrated device or service. This video is specifically about SIM plans for your phone that the provider has restricted tethering for.
@@mikrotik Here in the USA, some mobile operators will check to see if the IMEI is a "phone" or if it is a "LTE modem" such as a Netgear LBR20. I had T-Mobile blacklist the IMEI for a Netgear LB1120. The router would not register on the network. Moved the SIM to another router and it worked.
@@mikrotik of course they check the MAC address! It is easy to blacklist most of the popular LTE routers available on the market of a given country... all your LTE deviced should have option to change the MAC of LTE interface!
@@weinosby tethering is where you share your LTE connection from your phone to other devices, typically using the Hotspot feature. Some LTE providers have data plans where they do not want want you to tether. These data plans are intended just for use my your phone and not other devices in your house (because the LTE providers doesn't want you to use so much bandwidth). If you use one of these tetherin-restricted LTE SIMs in a router, then it won't work because you are effectively tethering using the LTE router. This video explains how the telco detects tethering and how RouterOS can workaround it
I really wish you wouldn't have pubilshed a video like this.. You're showing people how to exploit a flaw in the cell phone network's method of regulating their paid addon services... Meaning.. You draw attention to it.. It's going to push them patch out the flaw. You're showing people how to exploit. It's not a good practice, and you're basically screwing over the people who already know this, and use it every day.
The ISP will eventually know by looking at who uses illogical amount of data no matter what you did to go around it. Even now, there are many devices now which allows you to change your Imei, not only TTL. But like I said, ISP spotlight will fall on you if you use illogical amount of data. So you have to be smart in handling your data. Most devices will have features where you can monitor your data, so use it.
