Obvious spoiler is obvious.
The framerate is choppy just cause... I don't have a good pc ok?
Still looks nice anyway.
If you're wondering, the time limit is like 2 minutes to save the plane from crashing which is pretty quick when you just get thrown into doing this blindly and having to understand things quickly.
Game splits into 3 endings:
Coel:
Save the planes along with dangerous research. Gone rogue along with Coel.
D3f4ult (6:09):
Just let the plane crash (or if you were trying to save it, fail to do so) .
Kaguya (7:50):
Crash the other linked plane to destroy both the research and report of the chemical weapon along with lives.
Credits at 13:42
Coel's ending takes down both D3f4ult and Kaguya's server making sure they won't be doing the same thing again (thus going rogue from the group along with Coel.)
The difference between the D3f4ult and Kaguya ending is minuscule, the D3f4ult ending would talk about leaving the report plane alone while the Kaguya ending talks about how the user (you) took down the other plane.
All 3 endings lead to the same server ip & ending credits.
A few notes regarding possible endings:
It's possible to delete the file of the plane before D3f4ult does. It does not however change the text displayed in the chat while doing so and at the end it'll still refer to D3f4ult sabotaging the plane.
It's possible to upload the 747FlightOps.dll to the plane right after D3f4ult removes the file thus not making the plane controls fail in the first place but the story won't progress until the planes controls fail and you fix them.
It's possible to save the plane with the research and crash the plane with the reports. This won't change the text for the Coel ending however.
Forkbombing / rebooting your pc while the event is happening won't do anything but pause it.
Forkbombing the plane itself won't do anything but make you lose connection to the plane. D3f4ult will still delete the file. If you happen to restart the mission after doing this however the game will break and you'll be stuck at the chat.

Indeed, nearly every event like that got me, even the original game when you are retaliated against by the rogue hacker, it hooked me. Can't wait for the multiplayer, lets see how much they let us play with the VM to brick someones OS. He'll need to support scripting as well though, it doesn't feel right typing tools out over and over when you would normally have scripts for specific attack patterns.

Yeah I completely agree. That part really hooked me aswell and the similar event in the DLC was cool likewise. I can't wait either, but I wonder how they will pull it all off. I think mod support comes first which means new content will be generated rather often while the devs can work on the multiplayer? But yeah, scripting could be cool aswell or atleast more arguments to the different "hacks". Not sure how it would work yet totally, but I will loook forward to it.

if you look in the install folder (content\hackerscripts) it looks like he's been toying with scripts for NPC actions or something, I'm hyped, I hope that the world is persistent though and you VM exists on the server after you log off.

That script you see there is what happens when NAIX hacks you at first if you read it :) You get forkbombed and you have to restore your x-server file in the original hacknet if you remember (Blue screen). But in theory he could add more of course :)

There is actually a way to prevent that. 1. When the 1's and 0's start filling the memory storage spot, do ps. 2. Locate the pid of the file. 3. Do this: "kill [PID of ForkBomb] 4. However, eventually, Naix will realize and then do the command "reboot". However, this no really known way to stop this.

I just realized that while you are talking to Kaguya and Coel the reason why the plane starts to lose altitude is because of D3f4ult, wow that was extremely quick and wow he was barely even hesitant.

It's not about the speed, it's about their zero tolerance regarding human lives it seems. Kaguya preached carefulness and subtly in all the missions before and suddenly killing many innocent people for some weapon research is okay? Lol, looks like Kaguya and D3f4ult change their mind everytime their head pops off their pillow in the morning. Seriously, killing so many innocent people because of that potential chemical weapon is the same as killing them with the chemical weapon. I'd rather take the risk that the weapon is still out there and sleep peacefully, knowing I didn't put 150-300 lives on the line because of potential weapon research. God this game is awesome and the mission is a perfect extrapolation from project junebug. It couldn't have been better. Great DLC.

It's not really an easy choice. like +Derps said, a chemical weapon would potentially cause WAY more deaths than even both of the plane crashes combined. You either risk that, or you let the people on the plane die in order to "guarantee" that the chemical weapon won't be used. However there's actually no telling if there was only the ONE hard copy. For all we know, there could be more copies that weren't on that plane, making the deaths on the plane pointless.

i wont lie, even if you do crash the plane, that research could be done again from scratch, not to mention that there may be other copies. letting the plane crash is a lose-lose scenario.

I thought for sure I failed this mission, the plane's altitude dipped below the screen by the time I alerted the pilot...I must have JUST made it because after a second it slowly rose from beneath the bottom. Tense stuff!

This was a great DLC but I don't think the creators understood how planes worked. There's a lever/switch to the side of the seat that allows the pilots to take manual control of the plane. Even with all engines lost the plane can glide for hours, it's not going to fall like a rock out of the sky. However with no ability to use the radio or transponder it'll make contact very difficult. No doubt fighter jets would be scrambled to ascertain what's going on.

The hacker might have put it into a nosedive so that it won't glide. Interesting point about the lever that switches to manual control. I didn't know about that.

Do remember that this game is set in the "near" future, and if you've been following recent airline developments, you'd know that certain companies are currently pushing for fully online automatic planes, with a single pilot for systems checks. In this game, it's fair to assume that it's at least possible that by shutting down the on-board computers could render the plane inoperable. And before someone says it, yes it is a 747, but who's to say it wasn't retrofit for a new fully automatic flight system?

The real life crash this year of Boeing's 737 MAX 8 airplanes was due to an oversight of a lack a common override feature... the autopilot forced the plane to crash. So about that...

The Kaguya ending should be named ending. Kaguya mabye says that it's better this way.But in the other ending he just tells us to leave is as it is.

I just finished this awesome DLC. I also chose the save option where I saved the plane from crashing. I was a little disappointed with how anti-climactic it was and was expecting a Face-Off between the four of us, but I guess that would have been too much for the game to handle. All in all it was a welcome and awesome experience.

Awesome game, little disappointed we didn't see ANY sort of attempt from Kaguya/Default to get back at Coel/Player if you foil their plans. I would especially expect it from Default. Or having Coel try to take you down if you side with them. Just kind of expected there to be more of a "ok, the planes are safe, but now Kaguya/Default are out for us" and dealing with thwarting their attacks. My PC was never attacked once, except for the one required time where Coel helps you out. Just seems odd that they both kind of dropped it and moved on with their lives.

Neat thing, that required time? Not actually required. Given you leave a disconnect log when you DC normally even if you wipe the logs beforehand, Striker can chase you down when you fuck with his stuff. A forkbomb, though? That just leaves a generic crash log with no IP attached, protecting you from him.

Looking at the comments I guess I'm the only one who wasn't blown away by the ending. I mean, we were left in the dark until the very end so there wasn't much emotional investment to save the planes or not. So when I was trying to save the plane I accidentally issued the reboot command b/c I didn't see the reload firmware button. Was I upset I didn't save the plane? Meh... It was a fun game/DLC but I wish there was a bit more to the story I guess. If I remember correctly, the game Uplink at least showed news stories or a news ticker based on your activity which gave you more of a feeling that your actions had consequences.

The RC apparently ordered a hitman to "deal" with Bit. As the RC didn't elaborate on the method, the hitman service went off to kill Bit. The RC explained that he wanted them to "trash his computer or something" and explained that Bit is too important of an asset to kill.

There's a txt file that says Kaguya planned an over the top and extremely noticeable attack a long time ago to force an antivirus update with a backdoor that Kaguya and anyone he wished could exploit. There was no weapon, nor data. That backdoor into the flight records was to find the most populated planes. The more casualties, the more a disaster is noticed. Kaguya was shady from the start, and the txt file on his PC reveals his true colors.

completed this twice now and despite knowing what was coming I still didn't manage to save the plane the second time. On a weird note through, the first time I played it - a file got modified (which I had to change OUTSIDE of the game to get back into it) due to a 'hacker'... and im pretty sure after the plane crashed I had to chase the bad guy and kill his computer?

iirc after you save the plane you can get a mission (presumably from Kaguya) to alter the incident reports, so it blames a firmware malfunction instead of a hacker attack

Basically, Kaguya Recruited you because of your "Ability" to Hijack Software from Companies before they are released, aka Hacknet and Porthack, even though it was Bit who sent you the files.

Isn't 0-days about knowing (and perhaps using) an exploit before the exploit is publically known? So neither things that are meant to be released or hijacking non-released software, but knowing of an exploit before anyone with an interest of fixing the issue knows about it.

Approx. 300 lives compared to millions if that chemical weapon research got out...probably one of the biggest and hardest choices I've seen out of this game. While it doesn't sit well, I think Kaguya's ending is probably the 'best'. It feels like there's just no other way.
