Hades - Easy Allies Review 

Truly one of the best roguelites I have ever played. Anyone who is intimidated/not interested in the genre but normally likes Supergiant’s blend of elements owes it to themselves to give Hades a go. A personal GOTY contender and guaranteed we will be seeing it’s name when its the critic’s turn to talk about the best of the year.

One of my favorite games of the year. Seriously, this game is phenomenal.

The underworld looks like a dance club rave.

It is an incredible game. It gets better the more you play and that doesn't even stop when you "complete" it. There is so much to do, it has an amazing story to absorb, and the gameplay is the best in the business. It is the GOTY so far without question.

The small percentage of people who don't like this game are just Haders

Completely agree with this score and love this game. It's amazing, true game of the year nomination in my book. A little tip for those frustrated. Remap the controls. The default dash as a face button is annoying. I moved it to a shoulder bumper, and it has made all the difference.

Waited until there was a physical release: got it last weekend for the Switch - I cannot stop playing this. It's the greatest roguelike I've ever tried and has set a standard for me when I look at the genre from now on.

This will be my last run for tonight. *clears a run* Okay time to go to bed... What is that? Meg and Nyx wants to talk to me? Darn ran out of ambrosia to gift them and I also need 1 more diamond to get that nice summon. Okay time farm for stuf. *a couple of runs later* A random shade in a corner : cause of death playing to much Hades.

I've been playing for more than a year now. The feeling when you get the combination of boons you want and become a murder machine is amazing. And leave it to SuperGiant to find a way to tell a complex and evolving story in a roguelite. Every character gets a chance to shine, and every voice actor rises to the occasion. Just amazing. (Could really use one more zone - but if you think you've seen all the boss fights after your first successful run... Nope.)

That rating is so understated and earned.

I love this rougelite format. While Dead Cells also does a good job of learning more on your runs, Hades's voice acting and cast of characters makes me sometimes want to die instead of escaping just to learn more

Played since the early access launch. It's amazing how much they improved the game and polished it since then. A masterpiece that keeps giving great content even after dozens of escapes.

Finally won after 21 runs and it was the best feeling in the world. Barely getting to hades on run 17 and getting spanked only fueled the fire to finally beat him. I feel like all the bosses give you that feeling on your way to your first victory.

100% agree with everything said in this review. Magnificent game. Hopefully they continue to add more zones and enemies.

Definitely up there among my favourite games of the year, which is impressive since I don't particularly dig Roguelites. The soundtrack in this game is just **chef kiss** . Warning: the portability of the Switch combined with the addictive gameplay make for a deadly Dual Boon.

Severely underrated review, amazing work guys.

This game is incredible. Might be my favorite Supergiant game which is saying a lot because Transistor is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm not even the biggest roguelike fan but the way they add context to the idea of dying over and over again is incredible. There's always something waiting for you when you get back to the Pool of Styx. I've beaten the game, seen the credits, and I STILL feel like I'm just getting started.

Looks like a pretty sweet game, like God of War meets Doom. I wasn't gonna get anything else this year aside from Cyberpunk 2077 but well.......maybe one more......

damn, 9.5 even with the complaints about variety. I already bought it, but now i'm even more psyched to play it :)

I have played this game since it was in Early Access, when Meg was the only boss in the game. I have loved this game for literal years now and the way that it's grown and gone from strength to strength has been awesome to see. Much love for Supergiant. 💙

Straight 10 from me. Jaded gamers give this a go. Haven't felt this great about a game in years.

Really happy that Huber kept details about the story very light. Getting to experience how Supergiant inserts story into a game like this is definitely part of Hades' appeal. Do not sit on this one, it's been good all throughout its Early Access and now 1.0 is easy GotY material.

Most engaging gameplay loop I've ever experience. Only game I've ever played through early access. I would actually periodically open Steam just to check for updates. Love this game, glad I'm seeing it get the praise it deserves.

If you are debating it, I have tried rouge-likes for years. This is the first one that has truly hooked me for just one. more. run.

Looks fucking awesome. Love these guys, think I recognize the protagonist voice as the villain from transistor, pretty unique and great. Waited for this to leave early access... It's time

Damn it Huber I was hoping for a 10/10 man... Jokes aside, this has been one of my favorite games for quite a while and I'm having a blast seeing the reactions from everyone now that is officialy out! Supergiant has done it once again.

It may have less "battle content" than Dead Cells for example, but damn does it shine in other areas. As expected from Supergiant Games everything just oozes with charm and style. All the banter during a run with all the different gods and enemies you face and the story bits back in the House of Hades are an absolute joy. Progression is incredibly fair and motivating, which made it seem like the game was a bit on the easy side at first, but once you beat the final boss a few times can start custom-tailoring your runs with tons of added challenges for further rewards and additional unlocks. I've put in well over 60 hours since release, finished almost 50 runs and i'm still craving more. Definitely one of the best rogue-lites out there.

first time playing a supergiant game and really am not a fan of roguelikes but man this game has me hooked. it's the best parts of a lot of different great games tbh and that art style pops off the screen.

I think a game can be a masterpiece, hell I'll even say a game is amazing but it takes a lot for me to call a game truly perfect, Hades is one of those games.

A awesome game, it was already great in early acces and now that its out its even better! I really hope this game gets a sequel of sorts, the story is interesting eneugh for it and the action just makes u want for more :)

I truly don’t know if I like this game or dead cells more. I like the progression system in this more but I enjoy the action in dead cells more. This by far has a better story tho.

Just to add because the review doesn't mention it. There is an optimal God Mode which reduces enemy damage by 20% and when you die that percentage increases permanently. It's a really nice little feature that makes the game more accessible for those who wish to play the game but struggle with some of the more frantic encounters towards the end and is just the cherry on top for an already fantastic experience.

This game's soundtrack is GREAT.

How does this compare to children of morta? I loved that game esp. In local coop?

Hades is cool as hell

My only issue (more like a nitpick) is that I find that not all weapons are equal. I found my playthroughs being way easier with the spear while the gauntlets or the sword leave you vulnerable against many foes.

Is it just me or does the opening narrative sound like the guy "Little Finger" from GOT?

I've owned this game for half a year and still haven't escaped successfully, albeit I only had about 35 hours in it and haven't played since v0.6 or so. I really need to get back and finish this one off, it was a blast up to that point! Edit: Like #666!

Tempted to buy this on Switch, but I want the trophies, so I’ll wait for the PS4/PS5 version.

This is my GOTY.

So glad you guys reviewed this incredible game, but it was one of those reviews where it felt like 60% of the runtime was used just to explain what the game is and how it works. While I get you usually need to give a bit of context before getting into the critique, it felt like very few critical points were made in the video compared to the time spent discussing the ins and outs of the mechanics themselves.

This looks interesting, but I'm just really burnt out on roguelikes.
