If you use armor breaking abilities that can cancel attacks from a slight range then they aren't that big of a problem. I dislike the enemies with shields much more.
I actually made an interesting connection with the Soul Catcher enemies. You know. The butterfly balls. The ancient Greek words for "butterfly" and "soul" are both "psyche." And Soul Catchers emit a bunch of butterflies. Need I say more.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like 6:11 always comes in somewhere either during the Asterius solo miniboss, or during the boss proper. Which, I'd believe it if Darren paced the music just so that this undeniably badass section of the song lined up to pump the player up to literal hell and back during these fights.
I listened to The King and Bull and was wondering why I remember the boss music being different. That should tell you how many times I've died to these two.
Ah.... This has turned into my favourite song to have on while walking. It just makes me feel great, gives you a grand feeling. Also kinda matched my walking pace when it came next on the OST list. Helps you kinda just keep going with your head up high and fixes your posture in the process Good stuff, good stuff. Honestly the whole soundtrack is So Good, but this one deserves this little special note here. Go ahead and try it yourself~ Put on headphones and go for a little walk through town
I've seen people compare the other elysium theme to the doom E1M1 theme, but i've noticed that this theme (specifically the miniboss section) has a resemblence to BFG division.
This. This is the part of the soundtrack where I get my head handed to me. Elite archers, elite shieldbearers, armored exploding chariots chasing me out of cover...
Interesting fact, Ares's throwing attack, the cutting disc, is the easiest and fastest way to defeat the dynamic duo. Just go to some edge, place both the minotaur and the clown between the wall and the pillars, once there just spam the throwing attack, they will only last a handful of seconds this way. And if you have additional charges or you also have the Ares acceleration, this will be even faster.
*Asterius:* I see we meet aga- *Thesues:* Wow you’re SO tall! *Asterius:* …thanks? *Thesues:* How tall ARE you? *Asterius:* Um like 6’6”? 6’11” with the horns? *Thesues twirling hair:* omg “with the horns” you are SO funny!
Bit of an improvised line... 4:15 - "Welcome back, young man. Now let's..." "Say no more, Asterius. We shall send this blackguard back where he belongs." "I'm saving you for last, Bull-man. You deserve the honor, unlike Theseus." This... music kicks some hell! Loved the ambient when first walking into Elysium and I knew I was gonna appreciate the unleashed version. Absolute genius! And it makes me wanna humiliate Theseus. Sometimes, I just raise the volume a little too much when this song is up.
RIP Jon Huber (AKA Brodie Lee, "The Exalted One"). I know that this song has nothing to do with him, but man - This really hits hard now that he's gone.
Butterfly balls are laighably easy to counter once you get the butterflies under control. Its the shield dudes and chariots (with armor) that are the problem
My god, at the beginning I hated so much the myrmidons part because they are strong and annoying with that soul thing and all but I ended appreciating this area of the Hades just because this music. Shiiiiit that scaling omg 🤘🤘🤘
Here's a rough outline Key: E minor Intro: Bounce around octaves of E Setup: Hold on syncopated E for 8 bars, pickup out of the section is a B-flat (Bb) Main theme: Syncopated B, end of every 4th bar is a C. Repeat 4x, last bar drop to A instead of C. Finish with 1 bar of G, q-note triplet G F# F (descending chromatic), 1 bar of E, then octave jump to E. Repeat the entire section, but only play the 4 bar phrase 2x before the descending chromatic motif. Arpeggiated Fdim7: Eigth-note triplets E F G# F G# B C B G# B G# F E F G# F G# B C B G# B (x2) C B A B C B A B C B A B C D Eb D C D (x2) Hold on D for 2 (or 4) bars Repeat once to [Setup] Q-note triplets: E E E E E E C C C C C C A A A A A A# B B B B A G E E E E E E C C C C C C D D D D D D D# D# D# D# D# D# 4 bars of B Setup x2, main theme, Fdim7 Outro: Similar to the setup, but every other pickup is an F instead of a Bb. Then F q-note triplets octave jumps for a few bars. Repeat entire song from setup, add e-guitar, turn drumset up to 11, end on E
You made me realize that the same thing happens to me. Lol I would suddenly feel so much more engaged and reactive to the game. The music is way too good
Goddamn do I hate this enemy type. Like, Kudos to Supergiant for legit keeping it challenging, but I've never lost as much health as I did when I got tunnel vision chasing down the eyes before respawn, while their buddies guard them nearby.
Personally, I thought those enemies provided a nice ramp up in difficulty compared. It just makes me scared of the enemies that'll be in the next biome
I want to like this song with no reservations, but the damn repetitive parts at the beginning with the spooky theremin noise lodged themselves into my brain and have been replaying in my mind nonstop over the last 24-48 hours. The rest of the song song rocks, like, the solo bass parts between fights and the kickass part when you're fighting a boss. The melody is fine, but I can't get THOSE parts stuck in my head. Just "OooooooooooooooOoooooooOoooooooOoooooOOoooooo" It's just that damn synthesizer. I get that it sounds like a spooky ghost because Elysium, but Goddammit Darren why did you earworm me? Well, good work on the soundtrack anyway.
