I love how they change things up with every cast rather than trying to find people who look and sound similar to the original. It is fun to see everyone’s take on the characters.
I've seen the show 8 times in New York and I completely agree with this comment I love how each person portrays their role so differently. Kudos to casting
His voice is so clear!! I genuinely thought he was autotuned, until I watched another video of the performance taken from the audience and he sounded exactly the same!!!
I wouldn't have noticed in either version without this comment. Listening to both it is much clearer in this version. It really does strengthen those lines.
@@cgt9056 you're kidding right??...... Many people do it, from movie stars to Broadway stars 😂😂 I think the accent is cool but for you to say " can't get rid of an accent you've had all your life that easily " is just you making excuses
I saw her as Angelique on Broadway twice & there is a certain way she portrays her roles that are just fantastic like Lillias is amazing as Lady Hermes but there is just something extra with Melanie’s Hermes that is just amazing!!! 😁😁😁😁
My poor Orpheus looked like he was having an anxiety attack 😭😭 Hope he's doing well, his portrayal of the love of Orpheus is the best I've everr seen. Much love to everyone, and peace ❤
So, the one armed ensemble member was in the show when it was in London before the Broadway run. I remember seeing it on its last night at the National Theatre.
Allie Daniel as the 3rd Fate is getting a lot of special mentions and deservedly so, but I’m truly obsessed with the way Bella Brown as the 1st Fate does the line “Who are you to lead them?” Not only does she sing it sublimely, there’s something about the way she looks at Orpheus that conveys pure malice. Gives me chills every time!
Okay, I love LOVE the subtle additions and changes of the ending. First, the marimba/xyliohone like instrument playing the argeggio through the first of the double chorus section… then when Eurydice is singing her line and the PERCUSSION
i have such a hard time liking different portrayals of hadestown than the live album, but this is genuinely mindblowing!! every single character was cast perfectly!!
@@Dirgimzib Yes the Bway Cast does has its diversity but Fate 3 (Allie Daniels) is Trans & also covers Hermes as the Understudy, Grace is mixed, There is an Amputee cast member as Ensemble & so many more. There is more to diversity than just Race & Ethnicity 💙
i once did a production with Grace... so happy that she is breaking through !!! She was always such a kind and pleasant girl and so incredibly talented !! Will never forget how wonderful it was to play alongside her ! I wish her all of the best and i am so so happy to see her doing such amazing things. She is so incredibly gifted
Saw this in London yesterday and was blown away by the vocals. Just listened to the cast recording and it just doesn’t capture the raw visceral performances that this cast are bringing to the material.
i’m actually sobbing i love this so much. also i love how in the cast there’s a visible disability and there’s a trans woman. you don’t see stuff like that so much, even in such a notably inclusive place like theater. also persephone is absolutely stunning and this new cast overall is incredible. i’ll literally swim across the atlantic ocean if i have to to watch this.
The fact that one of the chorus members, which is a heavier dance role, has a limb difference is amazing as a disabled woman who didn’t see a single visibly disabled person in musical theatre growing up. I remember openly sobbing as I watched Ali Stroker receive the Tony for Oklahoma since I knew it meant today’s disabled theater kids would be less likely to be told that no one want to see a disabled (insert character name) when they audition for a part.
@@samanthanotsamiam8404 beth hinton-lever (the woman with the limb difference) is also an understudy for eurydice which will be lovely to see!!!! & allie daniel is an understudy for hermes. as much as i absolutely ADORE the main cast, i'd love to see those two in these roles too!
Is the amputee company member here the same one form the London production all the way back from 2019? I remember that being such a striking image in that bootleg
I saw this on the 6th of July. The cast was slightly different but incredible nonetheless. If you're considering going but are unsure, please take this as a push to go! The only thing I'd recommend is getting a seat a little higher up, not on the ground, so you can see the stage effects to their full potential
Apparently (this was confirmed by their Hermes, Melanie La Barrie) that its just for promotion to kind of give the hype of the newest production of Hadestown or something like that
