This video is about Day 8 of our South Korea travel series when we visited Haeundae Blueline Park and Yonggungsa Temple (Busan) on our third day in Busan.
A trip to Busan is not complete without a visit to the Haeundae Blueline Park. The park consists of the sky capsule ride and beach train. Depending on your budget and preference, you might want to choose between the Beach Train or Sky Capsule, or maybe even both! If not, there is also an entire boardwalk section where you can take a stroll along the coast and enjoy the view. Stretching over 2km, the Busan Sky Capsule is a romantic capsule that ranges from 7 to 10m up in an aerial rail, stretching over 2 kilometres along the coast. There are two stations for the Busan Sky Capsule, Mipo Station, and Cheongsapo Station. The majority of visitors will purchase a ticket from Mipo Station to Cheongsapo Station since Mipo Station is conveniently located near Haeundae. Most people would spend some time exploring the area around Cheongsapo station such as the Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory.
Directions:
Haeundae Beach. Walk along Haeundae Beach (on the left of the sea) till past the tall blue 'Haeundae LCT The Sharp' building. Turn left onto Dalmaji-gil 62beon-gil and walk straight forward. The entrance of Haeundae Blueline Park will be on your right. 12 mins walk.
Start Time (Beach Train & Sky Capsule)▸9:30 am
Price :
Beach Train: 1-way: ₩7,000 / Round trip: ₩10,000 / Free use: ₩13,000 (allow to get off at all 6 stations & re-board once at each station)
Sky Capsule (per capsule): 1-way: ₩30,000 (1-2 pax) / ₩39,000 (3 pax) / ₩44,000 (4 pax)
All capsules are private. i.e. travel in your own group with max. of 4 people per capsule.
To return to the starting location, purchase a one-way ticket from Sky Capsule's departure point or use the Beach Train or use the taxi.
From here we took the taxi to Yonggungsa Temple.
Haedong Yonggunsa, or Haedong Yonggung Temple, is one of the most impressive Buddhist temples in South Korea. It is famous for its picturesque seaside location. Busan’s “Temple on the Coast” is also a hot spot for watching the sunrise on the first day of the year.
Arriving by bus or by car, visitors follow a narrow road downhill past a multiple food and souvenir stalls to reach the temple entrance. The first signs of a temple are a row of 12 larger-than-human-sized zodiac animals and various other statues and carved stones.
At the end of the row of statues, there’s a towering 7-story pagoda, at the base of which sits a car wheel shrine, where people can pray to avoid car accidents.
From this point, visitors can descend a flight of stone stairs to reach the sunrise platform and western side of the temple ground, or continue straight down a narrow vehicle road to reach the Gwanseeum-bosal statue on eastern side of the temple grounds.
It is open 5:00 am till Sunset and the entry is Free
