@@Hesher93 The other thing is Bryce ain t that dumb, he has apologized to Thor, but another owner haven´t and is unwilling to drop the "the truth" video, wich is why tThor is not considering GL
Issue with SCL its so hard to keep track of it unless u know a website that follows each comp as it goes standings of the tour is hard to find altho apparently Evans Nana is leading still tho wish they promote it better
It's not just y'all. Every strongman commentator has Thor in their mouth like they are lovers. It's getting old as fuck. I get he brings more fans of himself to the sport, even though they don't know much about the sport.
In competition or out of it, it's irrelevant. A lift is a lift, if a top strongman official is there to check everything. 501kg is the official, legit record.
And Giants Live hold about as much official authority in strongman as Pete from my local gym does with a Guinness World record representive present. Strongman isn't a legit sport with legislation and oversight. Giants Live make it up as they go along. People treat GL like its the IOC and therefore whatever they say goes but it has no more authority and even less credabilty than Thor's gym.
I don’t think Thor is completely ready for a 505kg deadlift. Yes his deadlift is strong but is it 505kg peak weight? I don’t think so. If he trained it specifically I have no doubt he’d hit it but I don’t think he has the 505 in him currently. I
He did Icelands Strongestman as a deload for SMOE. It’s great to see him bringing eyes to “ smaller “ comps. I think he has more traction with casual fans than anyone. Hafthor, Eddie , and Brian all have a lot of very loyal fans, some of whom are more fans of the person rather than the sport.
Personally, i think Thor is doing the CL as a 'warm up' event, he is easily the favorite, and he knows it. I think he could use it to improve all his results in events, and its regular action, so i think he's smart doing something like that while he's coming back to his best
I'd place SCL above Utimates in the pecking order personally. The likes of Kane Francis, Evans Nana have gone via SCL to Giants Live. Pavlo Koriyaka, Travis Ortmayer, Aivars etc do SCL these days.
To the authoritarians of Reddit, gird up your loins and be prepared to censor and shout from the EU all of 24/25. Thor will break the WR on his terms, using the equipment he chooses, at the competition he wants, for the money he wants. As an F/U to Giants Live and Colin and his Reddit Army of authoritarians it would also be comedy gold to see Thor do it at a Giants live event and make them pay him 100k for it and then create a revenue stream supporting the SCL so they grow bigger than Giants. As an American I would enjoy that. 1776 🇺🇸
It's going to be hard to repair the relationship between Thor and the Giant's live/WSM guys when fucking Collin takes shot at Thor while casting. Just last night on Stream he made a double dipping joke. I get why Thor won't compete with them.
TBH people only really care about max deadlift. Anyone who lifts knows how hard deadlift for reps is and can appreciate it but lifting maximum weight off the ground holds a primal fascination in people's minds. I think its a mistake not to have max deadlift in any Strongman competition.
@@Hesher93 Yeah sure, seeing strongmen at a strongman competition lifting the most weight posssible off the ground is boring to fans of a sport where strength is the thing being tested.
@@Hesher93 That's like saying if the 100m was at every Olympics it'd be boring, same with 200m.100m is the ultimate test of speed, like the deadlift is the ultimate test of strength. They're lynchpin events, and they attract the most attention.
Unfortunately, it seems like Graham peaked too early and then took his foot off the gas. That 465 was way too slow. I believed he would do it before, but now I don’t think he’ll get it.
This is a huge advantage compared to Giants Live to have the current most famous strongman. However I gotta wonder what is making him do it, he'll be competing against guys that have like low 800s suited deadlifts.
With the SMOE, one of the biggest things that happened was a lot of strongman didn't perform well even though we expected. Evan and Tom were both WSM podium finishers and were both around the same place. But I can wait for the full video.
The ultimate power move would be for Thor to get giants to up the prize money for the record and run away with a big fat cheque, then they wouldn’t keep posting Eddie’s deadlift every second week on top
I am sure a max deadlift was spoken about, but i do not think as of this moment he has 500+, simple as that. Next year, highly likely, but if you look as SMOE just a short time ago he did not look like 500kg puller, excellent though he was. Imagine the shit-talking if he rushed into doing 505kg in a completion and missed!!
he didn't look at 500 puller at Shaw because it was very strict and dumb rules also he was prepping for a very heavy comp which made his deadlift lose a bit of power.
If Thor is not at your contest, your contest is not worth $hit. Graham has zero chance imo. Maybe 3kg more than last year if the stars are all aligned. Thor will break his deadlift record in the 2nd quarter of 2025.
Could not disagree more....strongman is not about celebrity (SMOE aka, Shaw Classic just learned that the hard way) AND it's not just simply about deadlifting a freakin freight train
@@chrisbusinelle7276 if the best strongman in strongman is not at your contest, your contest is not worth $hit. Its got nothing to do with celebrity status lmao his upper body is only at 60% bro. Imagine if he was allowed to squat to 1/3 depth, he would have won the squat (and the contest) with absolute ease. And thats with a 60% upper body.
There won't be any record breaking by Hicks. Twice he has shown big shrinks in his armor. His 3rd rep on the 420 kg set (or was it 430 kg? Can't remember), and now on his 460 kg rep. When you're going for a 480kg+ record, every rep 6 months prior should look like a speed rep (or close to it). Eddie did it right by never lifting above 455 kg during the year leading up to the 500kg record
Not correcting you to be a jerk, just casually letting you know the saying is "chink in your armor" I agree completely. None of his lifts in the leadup to this attempt have looked convincing that he would pull it. He's wildly strong, but it's not going to happen. It also really bothers me that he does touch and go for his reps rather than actual dead lifts.
