This time I head to Henry Hagg Lake to test out the Garmin Striker Cast and to see if there are any pan fish to be caught. I didn't catch much, but the fish finder was pretty awesome. It is not substitute for the boat mounted units, but I will give it a thumbs up and the more I learn about it and use it, I will probably like it more. I will need to understand the screen and settings a little more before I discount it. Please enjoy the video and don't forget to like and Subscribe. Thank you for watching.

I do too. I am going to have to do a little hike around it and fish where I can.

@fatmanshenanigans I usually fish near the dam where you were. I run the hagg lake fishing report page on facebook, so if you make any new videos fishing at Hagg Lake, feel free to post them on the page. I'm sure people would enjoy watching them.

Can this be used in salt water. If so what keeps a larger fish thinking it bait and swollen it?

It can be used in saltwater. I have used it. As for. Fish not thinking it's bait? I don't know what stops them. But it does float and most of the fish in shore here don't come up to the top.

I’ve thought about one of those to use with my float tube, let it float along side. (Maybe Kayak too?) Most times I want depth and water temp. You need a float tube to get off the shore. 😊 Thanks for letting us see you try it out.

Thank you for watching and I am happy to show off my new toy. LOL I am going to use it more and more in my excursions in fishing. It is a nifty little unit. There is a version with a GPS in it, but it was like 40 more. But I thought it was really cool. Let me know if you get one and how you like it. The charge does last a while so it might out last your phone.

@@fatmanshenanigans I think, you could make a number of casts and slow retrieves from the shore, to note any underwater structure (rock and trees), depths, holes, etc. (keep a written record?) Might give a better idea of where fish like to hang out? I’ll look forward to more of your excursions.

@@archit2796 I think you are right about the slow retrieve. This one also has 2 frequencies. The lower freq has a wider scan, but also more false positives where the higher has a more narrow scan and is a bit more accurate in its ability to detect fish. I am heading to Seaside this weekend for crabbing and some surf perch fishing. I plan to see how it looks on the river where I drop the pots. I am also going to stick the GP in a pot for a while and see what happens. I also want to try it in the surf, but not too sure how well that will work with the water movement, but I think it will be fun nonetheless.

@@fatmanshenanigans I don’t know much about surf Perch fishing or crabbing. Oregon RU-vid anglers: “Rage fishing” and “Angling Addicts PNW” seem to really enjoy themselves Ocean fishing. I’ve met them both……. (A fellow fat man) cheers.

@@archit2796 I haven't met them, but I have watched a lot of Angling Addicts and he is a real fish slayer. I will have to look up Rage Fishing. When are you going to start your own? lol
