The Haibike Xduro AMT Pro is a top of the line all mountain style electric bike with full suspension and middrive motor. Light weight, high end frame and components keep bike under 50 pounds. Only offers pedal assist with max of 20mph but Bosch drive system is intuitive, responsive and well balanced.

Cool! Glad it helped. There are several other Haibikes to check out and I'm hoping to do so later this year. This is like the top of the line most expensive one ;)

I recently test road the bike a step lower than this xduro amt pro called the xduro fs. It works great. Torque assist is very smooth and overall a well handling bike. The frame and torque assist mechanism are the same for both bikes, what distinguishes them are quality of the groupo, wheels, fork and shock. For those people that think they are cheating exercise and not getting a workout, do not worry you still have to peddle the xduro, but at approximately 30 - 5% effort depending on one of four torque assist settings. You are still throwing it around the trails and riding like a true mountain bike, although with a lot less peddle effort and more bike weight. Hate that steep hill you have to get over to make it your favorite trail head? Hate no more because this will take you over it with ease. During my search for a new mountain bike, I recently compared a trek fuel 9.9 to the xduro amt pro. You just get so much more in the xduro amt pro with the additional torque assist mechanism. These bikes have been popular in Germany and U.K. for many years and bugs have probably been worked out. All the translated and English reviews from across the pond have been overwhelmingly positive. I ordered a xduro amt pro and I am awaiting its arrival.

Hi Kathy, yeah I like the FS 27.5" a lot! Recently reviewed it here: electricbikereview.com/haibike/xduro-fs-rx-27-5/ I hope you enjoy your Haibike, these are awesome machines and I love how they still ride like bicycles but make climbing easier. I've got a knee issue so it's a huge benefit for me :)

I'll be posting a bunch more "overview" style reviews in the coming weeks because I had limited time to test at Interbike. That said, I rode the bikes at Outdoor Demo and during the three days of Test Track to get as much info as I could :)

There are several other XDURO models to choose from with lower specs that cost a bit less. Considering the price of some non-electric mountain bikes out there (up to $10K) I think this bike makes sense :)

Yeah! They're doing an awesome job and I imagine that pretty quickly you'll be able to get one Down Under. This past year at Interbike I saw Bosch systems on the Haibikes, Easy Motion bikes and Felt bikes! It almost felt like they were taking over...

Thanks mate. i bought the Bosch first gen motor it did over 10,000ks. 70km 4 times a week and never missed a beat. Then one day just about to start my journey to work grinding and locking up it died.. now going thru the warranty process, will post how that turns out.. i really hope these electric bicycle are not a ticking time bomb.

For the Eco motorcyclist & speed demon. Reasonable price for the spec, & built for purpose. Mid-drive & Iodine wheels amongst other bits lighten the weight, so it remains a mountain bike, unlike say the stealth. Nice bike.

Great bike! With all of that suspension does the bike ride really comfortable on asphalt? It seems to me it would be more comfortable than a cruiser. I bet it would be a rocket with a 750 watt motor. As always, I enjoyed the review.
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 9 лет назад
It does feel great on asphalt, full suspension is awesome but the seating position on this is pretty forward so your back and neck can still feel sore and the saddle isn't soft at all. The motor is more than capable of reaching 30+ mph but it's purposefully limited to comply with law in the US. Check out this speed pedelec Haibike with the same motor that is a speed pedelec design meant to go up to 28 mph electricbikereview.com/haibike/xduro-superrace-28/

ElectricBikeReview.com I looked at your ride again and that is a sweet ride. The Emotion is a great looking and riding ebike. Suspension has become an issue with me as my bikes do not have it. The only thing I wish my Manhattan / Golden Motors kit bike had that it does not is suspension. I will get that awesome post you reviewed and live with the front.

Enjoy watching all your e-bike reviews. Along with the Haibikes, I have also been looking at the Stealth Bomber and Fighter Elec. Bikes. If you were going to be purchasing one of these bikes for your own personal use of the three which one would you choose? Haibike Xduro AMT Pro, Stealth Bomber, Stealth Fighter? The problem I'm having is finding a vendor who has these bikes in stock where I can get in a test ride :( Thanks for your feedback and keep up the GREAT work with your reviews.
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 10 лет назад
Thanks Shawn! I'd definitely go with the Haibike AMT Pro because I ride on city paths and mountain trails a lot and I think the Stealth bikes really stand out (they are much bigger and aren't much fun to pedal). If you have private land and are really looking for more of a dirt bike then the Stealth bikes are tons of fun... You can go much faster, jump higher etc. but there's no pedal assist, again... it's more like a really quiet motocross bike. You might be able to scoot around town some with a Stealth (depending on where you live) but be very careful because any accidents could get you into legal trouble (unless you get it licensed like a car and add turn signals etc). I hope this helps :)

Electric Bike Review yea I am considering to buy one of these at the beginning of spring. I am particularly interested in the Xduro RC 29. I just dont know if I should settle for a 25km/h or a faster 45km/h bike. I think those with a 350 watts motor are those which always provide higher speed but Haibike only has two or three of those as far as I know. One that is full-suspension and one in the racing bike genre. But no hardtail bikes with 350watts motors yet! (as far as I know, according to their website) looking forward to see your other bikes reviews!
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 10 лет назад
propheccy To be honest, the Haibike line is still pretty new to me so I can't speak to the different models with motor and speed upgrades. They all look pretty cool and I know the European ones were running 250 watt motors last year with the 20mph top speed limit. I'm glad more bikes are getting the 27mph top speed :)

Electric Bike Review ah btw there's something that Ive been wondering recently: the terms "ebike" and "pedelec" are used equally in descriptions about these bikes nowadays which can be quite confusing since there is a fine and important difference between the two. For this reason I'd like to ask you whether it is possible with the bike that you demonstrated in the video to drive with it without using the pedals yourself? I think you did that in the vid but I just want to be sure that these bikes can be electrically driven while not using any "manpower" of your own.
@propheccy
@propheccy 10 лет назад
***** hey mate thanks for the technical answer, being an engineer myself, that was exactly what I had been waiting for. I believe that the mainreason why these bikes enjoy such popularity is simply due to Bosch's superior quality regarding the Motor-Drive unit.Ive heard everyone say that it doesnt overheat under extreme circumstances and really keeps the promises of the manufacturers. Something that cannot be taken for granted these times ! I'd really like to buy one of the faster ebikes with the 27mph, especially now that I finally understand the part of the pedelec-point. Then again, here in Europe, I have only seen two bikes offered so far who have the 27mph, which includes one racing bike and one ful-suspension bike. I am actually waiting for a hardtail with this feature since I do not need an fs or racing bike. Perhaps I'm lucky enough and something's gonna happen till next spring when I'll make a choice and buy one of these marvelous electrobikes. I am also faithfully expecting to see an ebike equipped with throttle mode, as I am sure that this would also find a lot of interest among customers. This is really a market that is going to thrive considerably within the next years... just like Tesla Motors. It is the dawn of electrically powered vehicles, you could say. since battery technology is so far advanced that we can really finally do something with it in this field of invention. Do you own one of these bikes btw?

Why do douche bags always say " but the whole point of a bike is to workout" . The gym is where you workout.. A bike is something to ride.. I ride my bikes for fun.. I dont need to workout..And if your are using a bike to workout your a weakling.. pump some iron.. Bikes are for jumping, turning, learning, looking, being a human outside, and enjoying real air..
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 10 лет назад
The ironic thing about our perspective on bikes is that it's so rooted in our own time of obesity and fitness obsession. The first bicycle was the German Draisine built in 1817 with more traditional models appearing in France around 1860. Back then, people just wanted an efficient way to get around instead of walking. While bikes may be about fun to some and working out to others they are really just a machine that converts human energy into forward motion more efficiently. Steve Jobs once said "The computer is a bicycle for our minds" given how efficiently it translates our input into productivity... just like a bike.

Have you ridden the Focus Thron or Focus Jarifa with Impulse drive? I've heard that this drive is more quiet than Bosch, being equally powerful.
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 10 лет назад
Yeah, I have ridden those bikes and posted a couple of reviews here: electricbikereview.com/category/focus/ the Impulse system is pretty great (and very quiet). They are a part of the Derby Cycle Worke group from Europe that also makes Kalkhoff and more of those ebikes should be making their way to the USA in 2015 ;)

Electric Bike Review I'm from Poland so pretty close to the source :) Which bike would you pick motorwise for mountain riding if you had to - Focus Jarifa Offroad Premium XT with XION drive or Haibike XDURO RX?
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 10 лет назад
Pe Gie I'd go with the Haibike if I could get full suspension. If both bikes had to be hardtails (to be fair since the Impulse Drive uses a hub motor vs. mid-drive) I think I'd be pretty closely tied. It's quieter and feels zippy no matter which gear you're pedaling in but also changes the balance of the bike vs. mid-drive. It's a tough call, the Impulse motor feels very strong and also has regenerative braking: electricbikereview.com/focus/jarifa-offroad-premium-xt/
@pegie829
@pegie829 10 лет назад
Electric Bike Review I knew you'd say it would be a tough call ;) But imagine you have money only for one bike and you HAVE TO choose :) Xion hub or Bosch mid-drive? Both hardtails. Or maybe impulse 2.0 mid-drive?
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 10 лет назад
Pe Gie In that case I'd go for the Haibike because there are more dealers here in the USA and Currie Technologies has great customer support. I like the center balance vs. hub (which is tougher to service with flats, spoke and rim issues) and appreciate the way it senses when you shift and cuts out but still leverages your sprockets vs. a hub motor. Now, if the Xion setup had a throttle it might be a little different... The Bosch centerdrive is louder but not that much. Hope that helps!

@wojtek1415 My 48V-BionX has FOUR ReGen levels/modes! Remember ReGen does a great job as a motor-brake on long downhills, giving u more than one brake resist levels (so rotors won't overheat!). Also u can optimise ReGen, as on higher speeds it generates LESS electricity!

Many of the Haibikes come on several sizes so they will fit your body (even if you're tall) and they go very very far because of the efficient centerdrive system. You can often get 50+ miles per charge. Another Haibike that's pretty cool is the Superrace electricbikereview.com/haibike/xduro-superrace-28/

That's true, at ~46lbs this would be a beast to climb with if the battery went out. Thankfully there's a huge display with capacity and sophisticated range estimator so if you did run out, it'd be your fault. It's like saying "the crappy part about swings is when a kid walks in front of you and gets booted into the sky!" but that only happens if you're not paying attention ;)

Something where even a relatively well trained biker like me won't be able to ride (or will choose to walk to conserve energy) 3) tech specs: how steep is the head angle? Chainstay length - is it any different from a regular bike? 4) Handling in the more extreme conditions (i.e. steep + technical uphill, downhill)?...

It costs ~$7,800 and you can read more about it on the full review at electricbikereview.com/haibike/xduro-amt-pro/ Haibike also makes other models that cost less and aren't as fancy. As a mountain biker I find these bikes to be hilarious. If anyone tried to ride one of these with us they would get an endless amount of shit. For old people and commuters maybe they make sense, or I guess for people like the guy in this video who have injuries. If you don't fall in any of those categories and you ride one of these on the trails you are a wuss! You can get a real bike with as good or better components for much less.

This is one of the most expensive ebikes I know of! There are other Haibike models that have similar features but just use lower quality components. I think this is their top of the line model so that's where the cost comes in. It keeps it tough but also light weight. A less expensive option is the Easy Motion Neo Jumper which also has full suspension.

How did I miss this conversation until now? I think the trails that are designated as non-motorized should stay non-motorized. E-bikes have the advantage of being quieter than combustion engines, but like Ryan said, if more people have that much more power and start tearing up the trails with acceleration at the twist of a knob, then the trails will not be sustainable. The OP makes a good point that increased ridership may increase visibility and bring more resources to bear, but most of us that use pedal power would rather keep some trails less busy.

You make a good point, especially with mountain bikes... To me this product makes most sense for someone with a hurt knee or who wants to keep up with stronger friends or go further on a ride. It's definitely a lot of fun to ride. Other ebikes made for city or street are just great for commuting and stuff, you can get to work faster and without sweating or maybe ride further if you live far from work :)
