Haida Gwaii formally know as the Queen Charlotte islands is also known as the edge of the world as the world is like walking on the edge of a knife you have to walk carefully and keep your balance or you will fall off. It is thought all creatures or beings are equal to us, we are no different than the animals around us the Haida people worship the supper natural beings. They believe we all must coexists together as one! In this video we set out to catch spring salmon and coho to last us through the cold hard winters of Canada and pay our respects to the beings and say thanks for all they provide us with, for our family's.

I love the outlook of these cultures it's similar to maori Culture in New Zealand. They say the earth is our mother, it cares and provides for us, and we should love it and protect it.

Glad you enjoyed watching. Great father son memories that I will cherish for life! We have been to the queen charlottes before but not since the name change; Also we were further south and not so remote. I would of loved to have some more time to explore on land and go see Old Masset which is just a couple km down the peninsula. Let's just say we are all fished out for now and enjoying the good eats.

Thank you for sharing, absolutely beautiful, and such rich history! You my friend, have a cast iron stomach! We went out on Lake Michigan salmon fishing as a family. It was pretty rough, and I took Dramamine just in case! 🤢🤢At least i didn’t throw up! Was it a Bonus to catch the halibut? We all love salmon, and I just crave it! Who caught more, you or your dad? Perfect to be able to spend the father/son time….those are the times you’ll always remember!

Rough water is never fun but luckily we did okay. My father and I brought home the same amount however I caught half his fish for him as the old man was very tired. It’s crazy how much work it is to reel in those salmon. The halibut was defiantly a bonus to catch as they are never guaranteed so we were extremely happy to be bringing some home. I have fished the queen charlotte islands before but it’s been years and since the name has been returned to the Haida people so it was nice to return. A trip I will Cherish forever!

if your in Masset you must take time to go out to Tow hill and walk the lava fields and the boardwalk along the river and the island....just a great 3 hours

ahh I wish I looked into doing some things and this sounds neat. However I was on a private trip with a bunch of guys and no vehicle. Thanks for the recommendation I may be going back again this summer so maybe try an arrange transportation before hand. I would love to explore more in this area and not just fish!

The thing is about Massett....if you look in Jan....their are about 8 houses to rent....we rented a 3 bedroom home with our own backyard barbecue....covered with a awning.....Gerrys Fishing ....is the Lady....they no longer do the fish thing but she has two duplexer....3 bedroom only $300 a night for the house.....their are 6 good guide operators ......and a few bad ones....so at $1500 a day 3 people per boat....its reasonable for 3 or 4 days on the water......i have all the contacts....feel free to email me with contact info.....i went for 3 years no complaints ...nice to catch a fish and barbecue it that night....how about that
