The amount of times me and my sister must have recited this for the last 20 years. I find it funny how stumped they all are "Yeah that's weird, man". I imagine they were going to be putting more thought into it after this scene was over.
It's definitely a haiku. It's not a traditional haiku, it's modern haiku. Even the great haiku writer Bashō was not always constrained to a 5-7-5 pattern.
Fun fact. Bill and ted was released Feb 17 1989 and the first SNL Wayne's world sketch was Feb 18 1989! But Mike Myers had made the character of Wayne way before that.

Alvalanker EX there is a real haiku but this video isn’t clipped right. I mean we’re looking Down on Wayne’s basement only That’s not Wayne basement The “isn’t that weird” is not part of the haiku, just an afterthought.
